Chapter 935: They Always Think Gods Have To Do With Unexplainable Things

Raphael looked at Rowena deeply. She seemed at peace in her sleep. The girl looked so beautiful and enchanting. Ah, but he dreaded when she would wake up and remember everything that just happened.

He sighed. "When I returned to the human realm to assist you, I discovered that you ran away from an easy life at a palace."

The Seventh Prince shook his head. He immediately corrected himself.

"No, that life wasn't easy, but you still put yourself at risk in such a dangerous and unknown world rather than stay there." he corrected himself. "Then I find out that you incurred the wrath of the mermaid king and just earlier–you tried to attack a royal family."

Raphael smiled and pulled out a parchment and a quill.

"That is why–I must have to relay to my friends that my work is not yet finished until I can be rest assured that you will not put yourself in danger's way again. Ah, it's hard to settle a debt, isn't it?"

"Is… is she still not awake?" Prince Liam wandered over to Rowena's chambers the next day. All day had passed and he spent it alone, mourning and trying to make sense of the situation. Now, he decided to visit Rowena and checked on her condition.

"No. I believe she is still resting and trying to recover from her exhaustion," Raphael explained.

Raphael only meant to let Rowena sleep so she wouldn't be able to accidentally attack the royal family, but then she refused to wake up. It worried him, but Raphael realized that the strain of the visit to the mermaid realm truly brought a great weight on her body and mind.

Rowena must have forced and pushed her limits to deliver the panacea, but the truth was that for someone who never even experienced magic up close, it was dangerous.

"I see… she did everything for Julian," Prince Liam smiled tiredly.

There were dark circles underneath his eyes, he looked exhausted himself.

"Indeed," Raphael said.

Liam rubbed the back of his neck and fought the tiredness in his eyes. "I see, then I suppose I should go. There's a lot of things I still need to take care of."

"Of course," Raphael said.

Prince Liam blinked. He almost expected Raphael, the stranger, to ask him what he had been up to, but there was no curiosity whatsoever. It seemed like Raphael was only concerned about Rowena.

The crown prince–and he was truly the crown prince now, Liam killed his brother. That was the truth.

Prince Liam cleared his throat and looked at Raphael. "Would you care to join me for dinner?"

"Thank you for the invitation," Raphael said. "However, I must stay here and watch over Rowena."

"I understand your concern and care for her, but you also need to take care of yourself." Prince Liam insisted. "Even with everything happening… how can you take care of matters if you don't eat."

Raphael wanted to scoff at this mortal who worried about him not being able do anything if he didn't eat. However, he realized that's what humans usually think. Their lives revolve around sleep, eat, work, sex, and whatnot. None of those matter for immortals like him.

He cast his glance outside the window. He was in a mortal realm. It was better to pretend that he was human too and live like them. In this

case, he must eat. Getting the future king of Verona become suspicious of him was not going to help Rowena.

"Very well," Raphael finally nodded. He looked at Rowena one more time then walked toward the door with Prince Liam.

In the dining room, the servants had prepared a sumptuous dinner. Both men ate quietly. However, despite his calm demeanor, Raphael could tell that this human prince was in dire need of someone to talk to.

"I wish I could postpone the funeral until Rowena wakes up," Liam said over breakfast.

Raphael looked at the human prince as they sat at the dining table. He only nodded silently.

Liam realized that his guest was not much of a talker. "My father has locked himself in his room—that's why I think it's good to be able to say goodbye, so he could finally accept it… but Rowena is still not awake. She must want to see Julian buried."

Raphael halted his spoon in midair when he heard the last sentence.

The reason why they were here was because of Rowena's wish to see her friend.

"Yes. That's right." He agreed. The comment struck a chord in Raphael's heart. He looked at Prince Liam attentively and asked, "Is Julian still in the infirmary?"

"He is. My father urged to keep him there and is clinging to the same hope as Rowena that he might awaken, but I'm afraid that the doctor insists that today we should try to move him out. We can't keep him there lest..."

"I see." Raphael closed his eyes. He immediately knew what to do.

Magic coursed out of him and made its way towards the infirmary and into the body of Julian. Raphael decided to cast magic on Julian's body so it would be preserved until Rowena was awake. It was not a difficult thing to do.

"What do you think?" Prince Liam asked. "I can try to hold off the doctor's request but…"

The young prince still felt uneasy and unsure of himself. He was not used to making big decisions.

"Perhaps let the doctor check on him again, I'm sure you can delay it a little," Raphael suggested.

"That's what I thought too." Prince Liam smiled in relief.

"This is unprecedented!" Royal Doctor Gerald looked over at Julian's body at Prince Liam's insistence and was stunned.

"He only looks asleep doesn't he?" Prince Liam said in awe.

"It's only been one day, Your Highness, so perhaps there is a reason for it…"

However, the next day came and then another.

Upon Prince Liam's orders to keep Julian in the palace, the doctor wished to try and do his best to preserve the body and apply the necessary ointments, but Julian looked as if he was only asleep.

That if you shook his shoulders, he might awaken. It even made the doctor also hesitate from doing anything to Julian in case he turned out to be wrong.

What if the young man truly was alive and was in a state of comatose?

Elsewhere, Raphael himself stayed mostly in his quarters and visited Rowena's, but word was already spreading quickly that even he heard it.

It came from the maids, servants, and butlers of the palace and then reached the entire heart of the city.

"He must have been anointed b

y the gods—why else would he still be in that state?"

"Anointed?"

"This man's appearance laid waste to the evil queen Serena's facade and revealed the truth to us… that is why he is still here!"

"He surely is blessed by the gods! Even death cannot touch him."

"Wow.. this is a miracle!"

"Perhaps, this is a good sign from the gods."

Raphael sighed and only shook his head.

"When strange and unexplainable circumstances happen, they always think gods have to do with it," he complained to himself. "Well... they are not wrong in this case."
