Chapter 508 Two Days

Upon seeing Devos fail, Two immediately made a decision. With the death of Devos, he had become the new leader of this team of loyal summons.

"Retreat!" He called out and used his power to create a burst of mana and Divine Power that sent Fenrir flying back a short distance. As soon as his comrades heard his order, they immediately tried to pull away from their opponents, which was not easy at all. Beating a hasty retreat would leave their backs open to devastating attacks from the opponents.

This was why Two immediately used a secret technique to instantly teleport behind the others and pull them away from their battles, before teleporting in front of the portal. He cast a look behind him and passed through along with the others, disappearing from the battlefield.

However, their retreat did not stop the continuous stream of creatures that passed through the portal unendingly. The blood thirsty creatures constantly let out snarls and growls as they dove down to the ground. Their sheer numbers made it difficult for the cannons to completely kill them all by the time they reached the ground. Thankfully, there was an abundant number of soldiers ready to meet the swarm of invaders.

Raegan glanced down at the creatures before holding up his spear and swinging it in an arc in front of him. A black light flashed and in the next moment, countless monsters that were in the trajectory of his attack all fell from the sky, their eyes blank, as their souls had been shattered by that move. Their bodies had even been sliced into various portions.

'Brother, we must conserve our energy and prepare for any more surprises. Come and rest. I know you have used a large amount of energy to end the battle so quickly.' Darren's voice rang at the back of Raegan's mind. The ruler sighed and nodded his head. He and his brother shared a unique bond that had come about as they had been the first to be created by Leon, and they had bonded closely after that. They could easily tell what the other had been through and discern the true state of the other's being. If Darren was in danger, Raegan would instantly know and vice versa.

Raegan returned to a place where he could rest along with the others that had fought the A rank summons from the Paragon of Undeath.

The battle continued to evolve over time. It took two days and two nights before the portals began to slow in their activity. The monsters gradually stopped coming out and eventually, nothing popped out again. The portals remained, but the signs of activity from them had dimmed so much that it seemed as if they would disappear at any moment.

This made the defenders of Datar raise their guards. Over the past two days, many casualties had risen. Some smaller Kingdoms had found themselves to be in such a bad state that they had begun to evacuate their territories and seek help from others that were stronger than them. Many of their soldiers had been killed and even more civilians had died.

The bigger powers were hesitant, but also a bit eager to welcome those that came crawling to them. This was because they were thinking of the future.

If they were able to weather the storm and survive this tribulation, then they would be able to grow to a much larger level! With the forfeited territories of these weaker Kingdoms that had fallen to shambles, and the population base of these Kingdoms, then they would be able to grow to a much greater height than ever!

Powers like the Gublin Empire and the Elven Empire eagerly accepted any stragglers that came knocking on their doors. Even some Kingdoms accepted the requests for aid from other weaker kingdoms.

Surprisingly, the Dura Kingdom was also one of those who had been able to weather the storm in the past couple of days. They had received some solicitations from some other weaker powers that requested aid or something similar, and they had welcomed those that had come to them with sincerity.

King Damian sighed as he looked at his armor that was being restored back to its peak condition. He had put in his all in the battle and even his Castle Golem, Daham, had fought intensely. His A rank statue protectors had sustained heavy damage and some of them had even been destroyed. Replacing each one would cost a lot and take time.

"Damian." The former king, Raymond, called out from behind Damian. The old Elf walked up and placed a comforting hand on his son's shoulder. "I know it is not easy, but that is how things are. We are lucky we are doing better than some others. I heard that some kingdoms were wiped out in their entirety." Raymond said, his eyes looking over Damian's shoulder and looking out at the capital city down below.

The streets were dry and empty. Not a single soul could be spotted down below as all the people had been evacuated into underground bunkers at this time. Only the soldiers were in their barracks, recuperating. Some others were standing on guard, waiting for the invaders to attack again.

"...I know, Father. But that does not make it any easier. After fighting for so long to retain our sovereignty, we had finally succeeded in leveling the playing field and getting rid of the constant oppression of the Elven Empire. Now, they are our supporters. But even after all that, we have been faced with an even greater problem..." Damian sighed. "So many soldiers died in the past two days. Many more will die soon. We cannot sustain this for long."

"What do you suggest?" Raymond asked.

Damian looked up at the sky that had a red tint. The red clouds did not allow him to see the sun that should have been shining brightly on the lands of Dura.

"I am afraid I will have to reach out to a friend."
