Chapter 499 Battle Of Valeant - Retreat (12)

As Leon, Dardan and Hadrion kept Pheher busy, Asteria returned to Michael's side to assist him with dealing with Deeno. Meanwhile, other battlefields continued to evolve. The final Minor God of the Army of Destruction's Vanguard Force was taken care of by Kaladin, Grokus and Nero. After that, they joined the other summons of the Undead Army to sweep through the weaker mobs of the Army of Destruction.

As for the battles that were being fought by the Major Gods, at this moment, a breakthrough was finally made when Shorn severed the head of Daraya and ripped out the other party's Divine Spark from his chest. Without hesitation, he crushed the glowing red crystal, causing a glittering red powder to fall from between his fingers. He did not let them go to waste, taking hold of them and forging them into a glowing red scale that floated up and attached itself to the back of his right hand. In the next moment, his aura soared!

With a bloodthirsty expression, he turned and set his sights on Pheher. He knew that if they were to win this battle, then Pheher needed to be taken out of the picture. As for the others, he did not bother with them, as they were already been bogged down by teams of Gods from his side.

Whoosh

Two gigantic, red scaled wings sprouted on his back and he instantly took off, turning into a beam of red light and rushing to Pheher. In the middle of flying, his body rapidly morphed as he took on his true form - a giant, red scaled dragon whose scales seemed to have been carved individually from red crystals.

In truth, each of Shorn's current scales were not the real scales he had started out with. Over the years, they had been replaced one by one. Each scale had been carved from the essence of each enemy he had killed. Whenever he had the chance, he would replace a weaker scale with a stronger one. All of this fed back to him and empowered him over time.

By transforming Daraya's Divine Spark into a scale, he had immediately gained about 30% of Daraya's power at his peak. If he wanted to squeeze out more power, then he would need to meditate on it and take his time to assimilate the scale. But for now, he needed to end this fight.

A giant Dragon, even larger than Pheher, landed a short distance away from where the four Gods were doing battle. Upon feeling the heavy presence exuded by Shorn who was no longer holding back, even Pheher was taken aback. He felt that Shorn could stand up to him without losing much ground if they were to go one on one.

'This world is full of so many talents and monsters! How are they even on the list?!' Pheher, for the first time, doubted the validity of the list. He delivered a kick to Dardan, pushing the Beast God back, and held up his swords to block the beam of black light that came from his side, but he was not able to block the black bone spear that was wrapped with lightning and many other debilitating effects.

As soon as the bone spear pierced his skin, bone sprouts immediately grew from it, digging into Pheher's flesh and muscles and making it difficult for him to just rip it out. It then began to fuse with his own body, but this was much more difficult. It required Leon to call upon his meager understanding of the Law of Transfiguration that he had stumbled upon some time ago.

But aside from those, a deadly, weakening energy began to seep into Pheher's body at the same time with all these, causing his face to pale.

It was at this time, that Shorn landed and opened his mouth, letting out a golden-red beam of concentrated energy. Pheher's eyes shot wide open before he resolutely made a decision.

'Retreat!' A gray card appeared beside his head and flashed. In the next moment, he vanished, narrowly missing the golden-red beam, which shot off into the distance before crashing into a mountain. The mountain and everything around it were consumed by a blinding explosion.

Shorn's eyes narrowed as he turned around to the battlefield he had just left. Pheher's size had shrunken down again and he appeared behind Deeno who was being beaten black and blue. The Fate God had three of his arms ripped off, and the skull of one of his two heads had been brutally bashed in.

Pheher appeared behind him and grabbed him before teleporting again. He did the same thing for Ruth, before completely vanishing from Valeant.

"They retreated." Shorn muttered in rough breaths. His posture slowly relaxed and he reverted to his humanoid form. His two crystal scaled wings flapped behind him as he kept himself afloat.

Around him, the others also returned to smaller sizes. They were riddled with injuries, but they were alive. That was good. Together, they all teleported away to regroup with the other Gods.

The battle came to an end shortly after, as Leon's Undead Army swept away the remnants of the Army of Destruction's ground mobs. Leon let out a sigh as he felt the astronomical amount of Divine Power he kept on expending to revive the soldiers reduce to a much more manageable level. It was not easy for him to keep up such an expenditure, but he was thankful that his reserves were much larger than they should be for someone at his level.

With the battle having come to an end, it was not hard for everyone to take stock of any losses they had gotten through the battle. Thankfully, because they out numbered the invaders in the first place, none of the Gods on Datar's side had fallen in battle. As for the warriors beneath the God level, Leon's Undead Army had been able to masterfully handle them, so there were no casualties. This was the exact reason why Leon was such a valued asset in this war.

If not for his Undead Army, then the other Gods would have needed to bring forth their own forces, which would lead to a greater loss for Datar, and would allow the Army of Destruction to benefit by reducing Datar's fighting forces.
