Chapter 453 The Future Of Obsidian Skeletons

Kaladin was lost for words. He almost felt as if he had stumbled upon a hidden cache of his master's secrets. But this secret was something that would benefit them too.

Some distance ahead, a pool of red, hot magma bubbled and boiled. Above the pool of magma, a ball of dark red magma hung in the air, slowly swirling and boiling with a dark power, one that Kaladin and Nero felt deep in their bones. Because that same power was what had given them life. The very essence of Obsidian Skeletons radiated from the orb of magma!

"I see you have found it."

All of a sudden, Leon's voice rang out across the cavern, shocking all the summons. They stepped back and quickly bowed their heads.

"We did not mean to pry, Master." Kaladin spoke up and the other two supported his words.

"It is fine. I had intended to show it to you later, but I got busy." Leon appeared in the air above the orb of magma, his regal robes flowing in the air behind him, blown by a nonexistent breeze. He then turned around and faced the ball of magma before waving his hand at it.

Vast waves of Divine Power rolled into the ball of Magma as Leon used his previous experience at creating Raegan and Darren to mold new members of the Obsidian Skeleton race. Before today, there had only been five members of this race, but from today henceforth, many more will be born!

Like drops of water, the bodies of newly born Obsidian Skeletons fell into the pool of lava down below. However, they did not burn or get damaged. The pool of lava nourished their bodies instead, allowing them to become stronger and more reinforced. In fact, as they were, they had a much higher starting point than Kaladin and Nero!

The skulls of the Obsidian Skeletons flared with a purple flame. They slowly drifted to the edge of the lava pool before their bodies moved and they pulled themselves out of the lava pool. They stood at the edge, looking at their bodies with confusion.

Crunch!

At that moment, their attention was drawn to the figures that had stepped forward. Nero and Kaladin took the front while Grokus made himself scarce. As this was an important moment in the history of Obsidian Skeletons and as he was not one of them, he did not want to steal the limelight.

The Obsidian Skeletons gazed up at the powerful figures of Kaladin and Nero and felt an instinctive need to bow and worship them. It was only natural when they were faced with the Gods of their own race.

"No." Kaladin stopped them. "Not to us, but to him!" He gestured behind them and the Obsidian Skeletons all paused before turning around one by one. Their eyes landed on Leon's majestic figure before becoming enamored by him. The strong bond that radiated from the one who created them was clear and strong.

Thud!

The first Obsidian Skeleton fell to its knees and bowed its head, followed by another, and then a dozen more. One by one, they fell to their knees and bowed their heads.

Leon felt a powerful wave of faith emanating from each and every one of the Obsidian Skeletons. Unlike the impure and scattered faith that came from the denizens of his Cromwell Empire, the faith that came from these Obsidian Skeletons was pure and unadulterated. It was what every God wanted from their followers.

'I'm pretty lucky that Obsidian Skeletons are not as bothersome to create as other lifeforms.' Leon thought to himself as he saw this. While he could not mass produce them always, making a few thousand of them was not too stressful at the moment. It only exhausted his Divine Energy, and he would need time and rest to recover it.

Before, he would not have exhausted himself so much by making thousands of them at a time, but with his loyal companions here with him, he had much less reason to hold back.

The reason why Obsidian Skeletons were much easier to create than other lifeforms was because of how little resources they needed to be born. Other lifeforms needed a lot more vitality to form a soul and consciousness. But Obsidian Skeletons, and most Undead Lifeforms for that matter, only needed a tiny bit of vitality to nourish their soul and consciousness to be able to live.

Skeletons in general needed even less vitality than other Undead Lifeforms. This was because they were just bones. As simple as it sounded, that was all it was. The Law of Undeath was so ridiculous that it bypassed many of the requirements to create life. It was only after his ascension that Leon had realized this.

However, even at that, at his current level, Leon could not create Obsidian Skeletons without scruples. He would need to take it a step at a time before he reached the True God level. It was only at that level that he could create as many Obsidian Skeletons as he wished without any drawbacks!

Leon looked forward to the time when this would be possible. More Obsidian Skeletons meant that he would get stronger. The same went for his Obsidian Skeleton summons, Kaladin and Nero. The two of them were among the first of their kind and would grow stronger with more Obsidian Skeletons. Not to mention the faith they would gain, but the numbers of Obsidian Skeletons that existed would directly boost their strength! Their strength would also be boosted by the overall strength of the Obsidian Skeleton race. The stronger the members of the race, the stronger they would become!

Of course, as Monarch of the race, Leon benefited from this trend too. It was even in a more exaggerated manner than Kaladin and Nero. He had already benefited greatly when Kaladin and Nero ascended. With their ascension, he felt his strength level rise greatly, and with the birth of these Obsidian Skeletons, he felt it nudge up once more. When these new born skeletons grew, they would feed back to him!
