As soon as Nanny Sun finished speaking, a waiter came in with a cup of hot water.

Pretending as if he didn’t know anything, he continued eating leisurely. Around four minutes later, old Mister Lin suddenly suggested that everyone drink a cup of fruit juice instead of wine.

So, he was overthinking things.
His grandfather’s method of making him and Shi Yao drink this fruit juice was so simple that... they didn’t even need to use their brains.
Naturally, no one would reject old Mister Lin’s suggestion. The whole table of people stopped talking and also stopped moving their chopsticks, and they all picked up their glasses of fruit juice.
After clinking their glasses, everyone raised their heads and began drinking.
