Chapter 697 - The Scarlet Lord
Scarlet House, Ocien.
Max stood there looking at the Lord of the House. There was silence in the hall, and nobody spoke. Both of them seemed to be observing each other. It was all until the Scarlet Lord finally broke the silence.
"Come and have a seat.."
Max nodded, and then walked towards the sofa and took a seat beside Naze who was sitting there in silence from the start to end. He had nothing to do here, he was just there to accompany Max.
As for his relationship with Wilson, the two couldn't be anything more than Acquaintances if he had to describe it.
"How is Wilson?"
The first question that came out of Lord's mouth surprised Max a bit. He didn't think this man was a caring person. At least not if he considered all the things that he had heard until now. He thought that this man treated his children of his two wives differently.
Was it not true?
Max tried to read his face, but either it was all false or this guy was just too good at acting, because he couldn't find anything. It all seemed very genuine.
"Wilson is doing fine. I am sure you have been following his performance through the competition," Max spoke as he carefully observed the man's expression.
"That's good to hear.." The Scarlet Lord nodded.
"I didn't think that the Lord had been keeping tabs on me. I am honored to be invited here." Max smiled in a pleasant manner.
Naze looked at the fellow, and really felt speechless. He couldn't believe this guy just slid a knife in someone's neck with a smile on his face.
If one listened carefully, they would realize that this guy had just taken a jab at the Lord instead of actually praising him. He was clearly asking the Lord what was the motive behind him tracking his movement. Yet, he went ahead and portrayed it in such a manner.
The Scarlet Lord shook his head with a slight smile on his face, "Who isn't interested in you in the current situation? Besides, you are obviously under my radar for being my son's friends."
"I have invited you guys here to show you the hospitality of Scarlets. Back when I visited Capital once, your father had taken care of me. It's only obvious that I will look after his son."
Those words indeed surprised Max a bit, he wasn't expecting his father's name to pop out here.
"You knew my father?" He couldn't help but ask.
The Scarlet Lord nodded, "We were classmates and good friends during our Academy days."
"I see." Max nodded.
"Has there been any news about him?" The Scarlet Lord suddenly asked. It was not something unknown. Both of Max's parents were missing.
"None as of yet." Max shook his head. He wasn't going to tell that his father had turned into a demon after all.
A slight frown appeared on the Scarlet Lord's face upon hearing that, but he just sighed then, "Too bad, I haven't gotten any information on my side as well."
The two talked for a while, there was nothing much serious about the conversations.
An hour passed like that in the blink of an eye. It was only then that the Scarlet Lord got up, "I will have to leave now. But, as I promised you will have to entertain our hospitality while in Ocien. If you have anything you need, then just ask the servants. I will make sure that you won't have any trouble during your stay here."
As he left, the servant who had come to pick them up at their station, once again appeared taking them to their rooms.
"He didn't seem like a bad guy." Once the two were alone, Naze suddenly spoke.
Max didn't reply, but he couldn't agree anymore with him if he had to consider his first impression.
But, was this just hospitality?
Was the reason for bringing them here so simple?
Max would have believed it if it happened a day or two later.
But, the fact that it happened the moment they stepped in Ocien was rather suspicious. It was clear that the Scarlet Lord was tracking his movement. Was it just because of Max's recent achievements?
Max couldn't digest it for some reason. There was definitely something that felt odd here.

Arean, Trinity.
The Competitions seemed to have reached its final phase.
Oddly enough, Arcane's final opponents was Trinity.
Trinity had a miraculous recovery after their first loss, and were now the favorites to win the event.
They had defeated two giants before reaching this point. Both Orca and Ethera had lost to them.
It was very odd but no one could doubt their strength. When this was the event they had selected after evaluating their strengths and weaknesses and hence won.
But, some might not believe.
After all, there were few important factors that had played a role in their victory.
On Orca's side, Nathan couldn't participate due to his head injury. He was the ace of their team for this competition. And, when fighting with Ethera, Mr. Cool had once again left speechless with his antics. This led to them losing the bout.
Hence, those guys had managed to come up to the finals to face Arcane in this battle.
"Well, it's the finals.." Axel smiled as he looked at Terry and Eren. "Last time we missed by a mere inch, but it won't be the same this time, right?"
"Yeah! I will smash them into oblivions!" Eren hyped himself up, but the moment he said this, an odd look appeared on people's face.
They were fine with him winning, but could he just stop talking about smashing people. He almost killed a guy last time.
"Why the hell do you guys keep giving me that look?" Eren cried in frustration. What had he done to be receiving all this gazes. Even when he passed by the hallway, people would go silent in fear.
The girls and kids would even run away after seeing him. This was not how he dreamed himself to be!!
