Chapter 149 The Secret of Great Powers

Lei Guang persisted, hurling one profound-level spiritual stone after another into the pool.

He carried a total of 50 spiritual stones with him.

Splash!

The final throw signaled the last stone he placed into the pool.

The pool began to swirl even more vigorously, its light transforming into a brilliant white.

A grin spread across Lei Guang's face, his heart racing. Entering this pool was the key for Qin Chen to attain immense power, propelling him to become one of the great venerables.

In the future, this pool was fiercely contested. From this pool emerged what was known as the Dark Souls incident, where thousands of soul beasts with incredibly powerful dark abilities ravaged the city of Shanghai, killing hundreds of thousands of poeple.

It required many strong figures from all corners of the empire, with numerous foreigners joining the battle.

After the Dark Souls were dealt with, this pool was discovered, resulting in bloodshed as many tried to enter it. Ultimately, Qin Chen emerged safely.

The light intensified. However, he suddenly felt something behind him. He swiftly threw himself sideways. A middle-aged man was about to strike him!

"Who are you!" he shouted, anger furrowing his brow.

"It doesn't matter who I am. The thing is, you cannot enter that pool!" Gong Zui retorted, his tone icy.

Lei Guang stood up, his expression calmer. "Why can't I enter?" he asked lightly.

"That pool cannot be entered by anyone else, nobody in this world!" Gong Zui responded.

Hearing this, Lei Guang unsheathed a spear with a fiery tip. "Then, don't blame me for being ruthless, old man," he countered, his tone cold.

Gong Zui grew even angrier upon hearing this. He immediately lunged at Lei Guang and unleashed a punch.

Yet, it was successfully blocked by Lei Guang's spear. Not satisfied with just one attempt, Gong Zui delivered a series of punches.

The sound of fists cutting through the air was brutal, and the "Tack!" sound of Gong Zui's fist being blocked by Lei Guang's spear echoed in the cave.

At this moment, Lei Guang waved his spear, and fire formed instantly, shaping into a crescent, forcing Gong Zui to retreat a few steps.

"Like I said, old man. You will regret this," Lei Guang said coldly.

Veins bulged on Gong Zui's forehead; anger was evident on his face. "You're the one who will regret this, brat!" he roared simultaneously with a powerful black aura erupting from his body.

A large shadow of a black tortoise materialized above him.

Although he came from the Long family, he didn't awaken the martial spirit of a dragon. That's why his name, previously Long Zui, had to be changed to Gong Zui, following his mother's first name, as per the Long family tradition.

Meanwhile, Lei Guang furrowed his brow. That giant black tortoise... He could sense it was a Class B martial spirit.

He concentrated, and the next moment, the shadow of a giant lion with red eyes, spikes on its back, and a flaming tail appeared behind him.

That was his martial spirit. A-Class: Spiked Lion.

"Now, the real battle begins!" he declared.

In the dimly lit cave, the air crackled with tension as Lei Guang and Gong Zui faced off, their eyes locked. The vibrant blue light from the pool cast eerie shadows across their faces.

Lei Guang lunged forward, his spear ablaze with fiery intensity. With a swift movement, he aimed a fierce thrust at Gong Zui's chest. Gong Zui, with his unwavering defense, raised his arms, his Black Tortoise martial spirit forming an impenetrable shield.

The impact resonated throughout the cave, echoing like thunder. Lei Guang's Spiked Lion roared, its fiery mane illuminating the cave with a fierce glow. Gong Zui's Black Tortoise held firm, its ancient and sturdy shell absorbing the impact.

The clash of their martial spirits sent shockwaves, causing rocks to tremble and fall from the cave's ceiling. Lei Guang gritted his teeth, his eyes burning with determination. He spun his spear in a swift, calculated motion, aiming for Gong Zui's legs, aiming to destabilize his defense.

Gong Zui, however, anticipated the move. With a swift sidestep, he dodged Lei Guang's attack, his tortoise spirit providing him with unexpected agility. Sensing an opportunity, Gong Zui kicked Lei Guang on the chest.

His kick was so powerful that Lei Guang crashed into the cave wall, creating a resounding "Bang!" that made the cave tremble.

Lei Guang gritted his teeth, "Grant me strength, my spirit!" he shouted.

With that, a red aura erupted from his body, engulfing his entire spear in flames.

On the other side, Gong Zui remained focused. Despite having a defensive-oriented martial spirit, he couldn't afford to let his guard down against Lei Guang's attacks.

Lei Guang darted, bombarding Gong Zui with various deadly strikes. The two of them engaged in a fierce battle inside the vast cave.

---------

Meanwhile, in the scorching sunlight, an object moved so swiftly that it left birds in the sky stunned, causing them to plummet to the ground.

Upon closer inspection, the object revealed itself as a human, none other than Long Tian, in his half-dragon form.

With wings on his back, aided by the speed of Zeus's lightning, he accelerated toward his destination.

This was the first time he had flown at such a speed, his focus singular: reaching the Shanghai forest.

---

After more than 10 minutes, Long Tian arrived in the expansive forest area. He halted his flight and now hovered in the air, his eyes surveying the entire area.

After a few moments, he finally located his target, right in the midst of the dense forest.

He descended and landed directly in front of a cave, its entrance concealed by thick bushes and tall trees.

He had been here before, behind the screen, while hunting soul beasts a few weeks ago.

Without hesitation, he entered the cave. His heart pounded; it would be a great loss if he couldn't access that pool.

Once inside, his gaze immediately fell upon Gong Zui, sprawled on the ground, his body covered in blood.

Gong Zui, realizing Long Tian's arrival, pointed towards the pool, "H-He entered inside," he said.

Directing his gaze to the pool, Long Tian gritted his teeth; intense anger visible on his face.

The blue light was still visible in the pool. Without hesitation, he ran and leaped into the pool.

He seemed to vanish without a splash effect from the pool.

Seconds turned into minutes, and the blue light in the pool completely vanished, turning into a clear pool with two fish inside.
