Chapter 330: Great Forest (4)

‘He seems to be much stronger than me though…’ Gorun thought.

“Hey, you said that you’re a guide, right? Then you should take the lead with me.”

“Yes? But sir, this is…”

Gorun turned grim as he looked at the others.

‘No! Stop them! We have to get out of Goard territory, not go back in!’

Gorun wanted to shout at them to stop, but he couldn’t. He couldn’t say that when he had been saved by them.

“Hah.”

Gorun sighed as Graham smiled and explained, “We have to go into Goard territory. If we try to go around, we will go through Red Verron territory.”

Gorun immediately turned pale.

“Red Verron?! Are you sure?”

“Of course. Why would I lie?”

Graham declared as even Bolec gasped.

‘Red Verron…? Who is that?’

‘I don’t know. But they all know its dangerous.’

‘Yeah.’

Joonbum, Doral, and Jinpok whispered to each other. Red Verrons were actually red ant-like monsters a little bit bigger than a pinky. However, they were so terrifying as they could eat everything in their path in seconds, and their bite causes their prey to hallucinate.

“B-but how did you know?” Gorun asked Graham.

Graham smiled, “I came here before. A lot of people died that day.”

Graham spoke as he pointed somewhere, and Doral immediately fired an arrow. A Goard head that was emerging from a tree was struck by the arrow and died instantly.

“Ugh!”

“Whoa!”

Gorun and Bolec both gasped in shock.

“At that time, we had three hundred people, yet only four survived.”

“Four?” Gorun asked back and Graham shook his head.

“Yeah. Well, but they all died not too long after. Greed kills anyone.”

Graham mumbled, then laughed.

“Well, you two are lucky. We won’t die as long as we have those three with us. So stick close.”

“P-poison! Try not to breathe it in!”

“Fire!”

“Argh!”

Guns fired and blood splattered all over the place. A large snake called Jormungand screamed in pain and thrashed around frantically, causing the entire area to quake. A gigantic monster, the four-hundred-and-fifty-meter long snake began to wreck the entire area.

“Trees are falling! Watch out!”

The original over three hundred soldiers were now down to two digits as the snake-like monster ran rampant.

“Dammit!”

Bijet hid under a tree. All of this was the result of a few merchant’s greed. They hunted the snake-like monster Jormungands. The hunt went well when they attacked a fifty-meter long Jormungand. Sending an RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenade) into its mouth was enough to handle it. It was an easy hunt that ended in their favor. It seemed that everyone thought hunting these monsters were more realistic than finding a dragon nest.

After taking all that they could from the Jormungand’s body, they held a feast with its meat that night. The meat was so much that they simply couldn’t finish everything.

-I think we can just go back now. This one is enough to pay us for our costs.

The Jormungand skin, bones, and poison were enough to pay off the cost of the trip and with profit left over. The night passed quickly and they were preparing to set out again when a huge shadow cast over them.

It was a Jormungand, but much larger than the one they hunted.

-‘This is a disaster! The one we killed is a baby!’

That’s when weird screams were heard from the monster. The large head of the Jormungand moved over the head of the baby Jormungand. Its large body then began to run over the humans, squashing them into the ground.

‘Dammit… we can’t even kill a snake and we’re against a dragon?!’

And like that, another mercenary group was wiped out by the giant Jormungand.
