Chapter 294: To the vast world (3)

“There are Amons!”

“Be careful!”

It was chaotic. The quiet forest had woken up immediately. Along with the forest, giant monsters also woke up from their slumber. The forest rumbled with roars and the soldiers became fear-stricken as they glanced into the forest.

“Ugh, is that what I think it is?”

“It must be a dinosaur!”

“What kind is it? A carnivorous one?”

That’s when a red signal flare shot up into the sky. Some sighed.

“Dammit, it is carnivorous. But that’s where the Emperor is at. Too bad for that.”

“Yeah.”

“I hoped it would come this way. I wanted to try some of that meat.”

No one was worried, however, as they were ready to hunt down any monsters or dinosaurs that might be in the way.

“Hey, don’t let your guard down. We have a Kong here.”

“Oh... Kong.”

The soldiers were afraid of the word. Then, a whistle blew. It was the signal to start the fire. On the beach, soldiers were getting ready to lure out the large monsters from the forest into attacking them on the beach.

“Get ready with the mines!”

“Connect the fence from here to there!”

“These trees will be good enough to serve as our defense!”

Soldiers began to quickly move to establish a base.

“Lion! It’s a giant lion!”

“Sabertooth tiger!”

“We have 50 Amons incoming! Fire at will!”

Cannons and guns fired from all sides. The monster conquest was going well. As the monsters were driven out, soldiers began to set fire upon the forest to clear the land. One group started the fire and another controlled it so it would not grow too large.

“Whew. Now it’s clear.”

“Yeah. These plants, you need to give ’em some care,” a soldier grumbled as he burned branches and grass. The plants had grown so huge after twenty years.

“Ugh! Monkeys!”

Monkeys were seen from within forests, running away from the fires.

“I heard those things grow into that Kong,” a soldier commented as he watched the monkeys running away.

“Yeah. I heard that’s terrifying. I saw the movie.”

“I hope that thing doesn’t come out here.”

“Who knows?”

Along with the soldiers, Ainos women with their construction equipment and vehicles began to pave the way to establish a base. Joonbum smiled as he looked at Ainos women, who were all trained by his mother to use these machines, now doing their part back on Earth. Jinpok came over and said, “Misun says that they recognize us now.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. It feels weird.”

“I know.”

Silence fell as they had nothing more to say about it and old memories from Earth came back to them.

“Oh, I have reports on Kong sightings about three hundred kilometers northeast from here. I think human hideouts are near the lake there. We have three hundred survivors all wanting to be rescued.”

“That’s a large number.”

“Yeah. They say they had over a thousand people last year, but the monster attacks killed most of them.”

“Aren’t there Kongs?”

“Yeah, but they’re not interested in saving humans. I think they are busy looking out for themselves with so many monsters. And they can’t stop small monsters from hunting down humans.”

“Right. I saw that there were a lot of small monsters here.”

“It won’t be easy.”

Jinpok frowned, but he looked determined to lead the expedition to rescue those people.
