Chapter 35: Bombardment, A Harrowing Dodge
Erix controlled the metal plate below his only foot's sole and slowly but steadily flew beside Rin.
"Erix, command your pet to fly over 10 meters away from the frog," Rin said. "From what I observed, that frog's tongue can stretch 10 meters in length."
"Attack it from long range if you can and target its legs to stop it from jumping!" Erix commanded his pet, told it to stay over ten meters away from the frog, and commanded it to aid others in attacking it from afar.
The Frog Monster couldn't jump toward the military since it was heavily barracked with a tall wall, but it could still jump away to run or attack, so Erix wanted to prevent that.
*Whistle!*
The Eagle cried loudly in response and maintained proper distance while Isabella, Lena, and Serina started attacking the monster frog while sitting on the floating Bloodwood Eagle.
Isabella used her Flame Whip skill and some additional mana to extend its range before she started whipping the frog.
Lena used her mana-empowered bullets from her pistol while Serina used her Druid Bow to attack its legs.
"They are attacking. Look! That flame whip is so fucking cool!" A youth shouted as he saw Isabella's long fire whip strike below.
"That's a magical bow! It's glowing!"
They couldn't see the frog, but they could see the Bloodwood Eagle floating in the sky as Isabella, Lena, and Serina attacked the Frog monster.
General Tark and Ben turned silent, but a fire of desire started burning in their eyes.
They also wanted such powers!
Rin used all her mana points by shooting five more Sword Beams before turning to Erix, "How will you attack?"
"Well, let's see how powerful my Metal Control skill actually is," Erix said with an anticipating glint in his eyes.
He spread his arms and looked at various metal spikes, boards, and other metal structures lying outside before muttering, "Rise."
All metal structures in Erix's range flew up and started gathering!
"T-That…" Ben stammered as he saw a shocking sight.
"Powerful," General Tark muttered.
"What the fuck?! He can control metal!"
"Magneto!"
All those people from Bunker B and C who didn't know about Erix were shocked.
Erix controlled all the metal objects before gathering them in one place.
"Are you trying to mesh those metal objects into a ball?" Rin asked in surprise as she saw those metal objects bending.
"Yeah," Erix nodded as his face turned severe. He got his hands together with his palm into a bowl form. Then, as his hands got closer, the metal objects in the sky started bending and meshing.
Sweat beads appeared on Erix's face, and his body trembled at the amount of control he was exerting.
"Uhh, it's a bit hard," Erix frowned as he was feeling resistance in his head and also a headache. It was tough and exhausting to his mind and body to control metals in such a way.
"You can do it!" Rin said with a clenched fist and a fiery smile.
*Greee!*
On the other hand, the frog was annoyed by the attacks from the sky and jumped despite the attacks and injury to its legs!
"Shit! Fly up, quick!" Serina shouted, but the Bloodwood Eagle was faster as it instantly flew forward in upper trajectory at full speed.
But the frog was also smart and opened its mouth to try to hit the Eagle with its tongue after jumping.
Fortunately, it fell short of several centimeters and failed to hit the Bloodwood Eagle!
Isabella, Lena, and Serina got sweaty in just a few seconds of that event.
They could also feel Bloodwood Eagle's heart beating faster.
If that tongue hit the Bloodwood Eagle, it would've died in a second!
"We must not get hit by its attack, or we will instantly die," Isabella said as she put her hand on her chest to calm her pounding heart.
"Yeah."
Lena and Serina nodded as they sighed in relief.
The people watching also sweated hard at the scene. It happened too fast, such that they weren't prepared for such a counter-attack, but the Eagle also dodged quickly, so it barely escaped.
"Damn, that was dangerous!"
"Death brushed past them."
"But they are safe! And they are winning!"
"What is that lad doing?!"
"Erix is preparing a big move," Serina said as she saw a meshed metal ball in the sky that was as big as the frog!
The monster frog's vitality had reduced significantly since Rin, Isabella, Lena, and Serina could freely attack it from afar. They had done all they could in the first two minutes and completely exhausted their mana.
The barricades and Bloodwood Eagle proved very helpful in damaging this tough foe and keeping it suppressed.
"But the frog can dodge Erix's attack unless it can't move," Lena said as she creased her brows.
Suddenly, the Bloodwood Eagle started moving back toward the base as Erix gave it a command.
Erix flew up and landed on the Eagle before saying with a grin behind his mask, "I am going to make a big attack, and for that, I'll have to stay alone on this bird. You three must leave, quick."
"If you are going to attack with that, then I will use my Frost Shield," Isabella said as she consumed the remaining mana she had saved for an emergency skill to conjure the Frost Shield.
"I'll let this shield float on top of it so that it doesn't detect or see your attack coming."
"We'll also distract it!" The bodyguards shouted.
"Hmm, it will still hear the sound of my attack. So, when you see my attack nearing it, hit it with your Frost Shield," Erix said.
Rin guessed something as her eyes widened, "do you want to fly very high in the sky and drop that metal ball?"
"Haha, yeah," Erix nodded and said, "It weighs over three hundred kilograms, and I can't constantly control it forever, so I must go now."
*Whistle!*
The Eagle flew up, taking Erix upon his command while he controlled the metal ball to fly it alongside them.
On the other hand, the monster frog saw all of its hateful prey standing on top of the gate and started fiercely attacking the 3rd fence.
"Uh, I think you need to use your Frost Shield to block its attack," Lena said with a wry smile.
The soldiers had long stopped shooting from the corner towers as the bullets did not affect the frog and simply bounced off.
"Is he planning to drop that rough metal ball on the frog?" General Tark spoke as he saw Erix flying high with the metal ball.
"Yeah. If it lands on the frog from a high height, it will surely die," Ben said with a nod. 'It will gather more kinetic energy from higher heights and deal more damage. So, he has a brain that works with brawn, huh? Tsk, so how do I get him to give me a tamed beast?'
On the other hand, the main reason why Erix wanted to kill it with one shot was that he feared some near-death skill of the frog.
That Helix Flower became super nuts when it fell to 100 vitality. Although the flower was a special monster, and this Frog was a normal monster, Erix still wanted to kill it with one shot.
