Chapter 644
“Wake up! My immortal legion!” Hela shouted as the ground began to tremble, and countless undead appeared as they began clawing their way above ground. What was even more shocking, several giants were also resurrected along with the other undead! Hela herself held a huge long sword in her hand. It was her original weapon that she used once she got serious, the Nightsword!
Obviously, Hela felt an endless shame as she was constantly being cut into pieces by a mortal! She was an Asgardian Goddess, and as long as Asgard was still standing, she would be immortal! But that didn’t wash away the humiliation she felt! Now, it was time for this mortal to taste the true Goddess of Death’s power!
However, Dio didn’t seem to be afraid at all! He calmly assessed Hela’s power and lit a cigarette for himself. Because he was done here, Thor should be able to finish his task too in the near future!
“That’s enough, Hela! Asgard is yours now!” Thor shouted as he got out of the palace.
“Wise choice, brother! Your trick won’t work on me. Not that anyone can beat me, to begin with!” Hela said confidently.
“Well, I doubt that! I believe he can do something to you!” Thor said as he pointed his finger to the palace. At the same moment, a raging fire burst out of the palace, and a Flame Giant appeared as it destroyed the Asgardian Palace! Hela noticed what was happening, and the look on her face immediately changed!
“NO!” Hela shouted as she realised that Ragnarok had already started! The Flame Giant was Surtur, and now that he got his Eternal Flame back, he was at his full power! Hela looked at Thor with disgust and contempt, but there was nothing she could do. The Ragnarok has started, and the only way for her to stop it was to stop Surtur from rampaging!
“Now I am here, Asgard!” Surtur said as he waved his sword around, destroying the beautiful building that has stood centuries of time. Hela immediately flew towards Surtur at mind-blowing speed. She didn’t care about anyone else at the moment as she only wanted to preserve Asgard and stop Surtur from destroying her power source!
However, Surtur was an Elemental Giant, meaning that Hela’s physical attack wouldn’t do anything to Surtur right now! Surtur right now was the perfect enemy for Hela as she there was nothing she could do to stop Surtur from carrying out the Ragnarok!
“Stop! I will kill you myself!” Hela shouted as Surtur didn’t seem to care. It seemed that Surtur was too absorbed in destroying Asgard to concern himself with anything else. Hela tried to stop Surtur by blocking his Sword of Twilight with her Nightsword, but as their sword collided, she couldn’t withstand the impact behind Surtur’s attack!
“You are too weak! Get away from me!” Surtur shouted annoyedly. But Hela didn’t listen and rushed towards Surtur once again!
Meanwhile, Dio and the other watched the fight between Hela and Surtur from a safe distance. He already rescued the Hulk and prevented the Hulk from attacking Surtur himself! Fortunately, the Hulk was much more reasonable right now, and he wasn’t as angry as he was earlier, so it all worked out to Dio’s favour.
“Everyone has evacuated. We should go too!” Dio said as he patted Thor’s shoulder.
“I didn’t expect that the one who destroyed Asgard is none other than myself!” Thor depressedly said as he looked at Surtur and Hela in the distance.
“Don’t worry about it too much. As long as your people are still here, you can rebuild Asgard again later!” Dio said as he smiled at Thor. Thor already knew this as Odin himself also said the same thing, and so, Thor silently nodded as he didn’t have anything else to say to that!
“So, did you take the Tesseract with you?” Dio asked as he remembered that Tesseract was supposed to be still at the Vault right now.
“I don’t know about it. It is not with me!” Thor said solemnly.
“What? What do you mean?” Dio asked confusedly.
“When I got to the Vault, I didn’t see the Cosmic Cube anywhere! Maybe Hela or someone else already took it before I got there! But I grabbed this thing before I got out!” Thor said as he pulled out the Casket of Ancient Winter.
“What is this?” Dio asked confusedly.
“This is Casket of Ancient Winter, the Frost Giant’s treasure! This was the most valuable thing inside the Vault as most of the other thing there is fake!” Thor said indifferently.
Dio frowned as he didn’t expect the cube to be lost! So, who would take such a thing with them now? Dio began to wonder if Hela really took it for herself, but after giving it another thought for a little while, it didn’t suit Hela at all! So, was it Loki? Loki seemed to be the most likely culprit right now. After all, he was treacherous and cunning!
But then again, Dio wasn’t sure at all! There was no way to confirm the cube’s whereabout right now, as asking Hela about it was not a choice right now! Dio looked at Hela and Surtur’s fight and noticed that the fight had become more intense than before. Certainly, the end of Asgard was near!
“Let’s just go!” Dio sighed as he hoped that the future wasn’t too unpredictable as it was now.
The Dark Battleship successfully flew to a safe distance. The only thing that was still visible on Asgard right now was the Flame Giant Surtur that was still swinging his sword all around Asgard, destroying everything in its path. But before Dark Battleship was too far to see anything, Surtur thrust his Twilight Sword to the ground, destroying Asgard completely!
Asgard exploded without leaving anything behind!
The surviving Asgardian on Dark Battleship couldn’t help but cry in sadness as they watched their homeland disappear before their eyes. Thor himself didn’t seem to believe it himself as he still looked at where Asgard was supposed to be in horror.
