Chapter 749: Wei Qiongyi

As Shang Xia strolled about in the institution, students, and a good portion of instructors and deacons couldn’t detect his presence.

That was one of the few methods he developed after entering the Five Elements Realm.

He could use his Five Elements Dipper Qi to twist the space and light around him. The entire area around him would be separated by a spatial barrier and he could perfectly conceal his presence. At the same time, he wouldn’t affect others’ sight. Everyone would be unable to see or detect his presence, thus ignoring him.

3 years after the formation of the Azure Ascension World, the Tongyou Institution expanded to a different scale from before.

Even though it was limited by its population, the requirements the Tongyou Institution had for its students surpassed several ordinary Holy Lands when recruiting outer disciples.

That was also the reason why the overall cultivation level of those in the Outer, Inner, and Upper Divisions had been greatly raised.

In the Tongyou Institution of the past, a third of their students in the Inner Division would enter the Martial Extremity Realm in the second half of the year and they would be considered the most outstanding of the bunch. Now, close to half of them would be able to do that.

Unfortunately, even though the overall quality of students has increased, the number of truly elite students they produced was severely limited.

The number of students who managed to enter the martial Intent Realm in the Upper Division was far from the proportion of students who entered the Martial Extremity Realm in the Inner Division.

It only served to prove that after entering the martial Intent Realm, improving even further wasn’t a matter of throwing resources at their students. After all, the Martial Intent Realm could be considered the first true hurdle of cultivation. No matter how much one increased the amount of resources they received, the difficulty of entering the Martial Intent and improving further wouldn’t change. It relied on one’s belief in the way of cultivation and determination!

The students of the institution weren’t the only ones whose standards were raised. The same situation played out in every part of the institution. Those who held responsibilities experienced a similar increase in abilities.

Of course, the Tongyou Institution wasn’t the only one expanding and growing stronger in the past 3 years. The Tongyou City had been going through an all-rounded upgrade. The You Continent was also flourishing with activity as everyone went about their business.

As Shang Xia crossed the institution, he arrived outside the Teaching Division and realized that all the students had already been dismissed. Only then did he discover that night was starting to fall.

Sighing helplessly, Shang Xia got rid of the barrier around him before concealing the aura in his body.

Before he got far, someone emerged from one of the training plazas. She was slightly taken aback when she noticed Shang Xia’s leaving figure but a smile soon appeared on her face. She chuckled, “Teacher Xia, is that you?”

Shang Xia paused for a second and turned around to look at her. He chuckled in response, “Teacher Wei, why haven’t you gone home? It’s already so late.”

In the 5 or so years that Shang Xia had been in the Martial Dipper Realm, he hadn’t been doing too much teaching in the institution. No one knew why, but Liu Qinglan didn’t get rid of his position as a teacher of the institution. In fact, his salary was also paid in an extremely timely fashion!

Shang Xia brought it up to Liu Qinglan before, but she brushed it off somehow. Receiving his salary and not doing much made Shang Xia pretty uneasy. As such, he would head over to the Teaching Division from time to time to check on the person who was assigned to plan lessons for the students. He would also make several amendments to the teaching plan and give pointers from time to time.

Because of that, the role of the Talisman Instructor that would be switched up every year became in extremely high demand. Many Talisman Masters used everything they had to get themselves the spot. All they wanted was to compile and plan out their lessons for the students meticulously before letting Shang Xia review them. Once they did, they would receive his teachings regarding the things they were going to teach as he wanted to ensure they were clear on the topic before passing it down to the students of the institution.

Everyone who took on the job improved tremendously in the art of talismans after the year ended.

“Are you here to pick Yuanyuan up? The Inner Division has been dismissed already and she should be home.” Wei Qiongyi approached Shang Xia and they left the institution together. “Oh yeah, because the institution has been requesting for lessons to focus more on the region Across the Ocean, I have been compiling everything I know while looking for additional information about it. That is why I would leave a little later than the rest.”

“The region Across the Ocean?” Shang Xia muttered. His expression turned serious and he continued, “Is the institution planning to send the disciples of the Inner and Upper Division to the region Across the Ocean to temper themselves?”

Wei Qiongyi forced a smile. “You should have heard what happened in recent years. The amount of resources the institution is pouring into the students has increased significantly. Even though there have been more students entering the Martial Extremity Realm, there hasn’t been much improvement in the situation regarding Martial Intent Realm cultivators...”

Seeing how Shang Xia was listening intently, Wei Qiongyi continued, “The Instructors, Teachers, and Custodians... Even the Deacons of several other divisions felt that it was because they lack experience...”

Lacking experience would mean that they didn’t have much opportunity to train themselves in the real world. Shang Xia obviously understood what she was trying to say.

Wei Qiongyi wasn’t done. “All of them felt that after the merger of the battlefield between the two worlds, there would be no point sending our students up north. After all, we are maintaining an alliance with the Changbai Holy Land. There shouldn’t be much conflict breaking out between us and the cultivators of the Liao Continent. Our students wouldn’t be able to get much practical combat experience there. If they rely on pure cultivation to improve themselves, they would need too much time. Even if they manage to break through by relying on their luck, they wouldn’t be able to temper their mental state. Cultivating in the future would become a little more difficult...”

Shang Xia thought to himself and realized that they weren’t wrong. Combat experience was an important factor in helping one to develop and strengthen one’s divine sense. It was especially so if the cultivator in question experienced many life-or-death scenarios.

Of course, actual combat would inevitably lead to some deaths happening. If the institution truly wanted to follow through on their plan, they would have to prepare to suffer some losses.

In the past, the Tongyou Institution had no choice but to send their students into the battlefield between the two worlds as the You Continent didn’t have enough resources for them to grow. There, they fought against cultivators of the Azure Spiritual World and spiritual beasts.

Now that the You Continent expanded significantly, their population couldn’t keep up and the number of experts they had were considerably scarce. They had more than enough resources, and there was no need for them to take risks like that any longer.

Shang Xia asked suddenly, “How is the situation out there? To be exact, how is the situation with the Triple Frost Palace?”
