257- Responsible (负责)

By now, Qiao Wei Min had almost squandered all of the family property away, but seeing the wealthy Jiang Family who owes him, how could he not take advantage of them? Naturally he would go and collect what he owns.

Qiao Wei Min, who was 10x more bastardly than his daughter Qiao Hong Ye, started to make a fuss and refused to leave in a large voice, to the point that everyone in the neighborhood could hear him.

He kept talking about how Jiang Xia destroyed his daughter’s innocence; how Jiang Xia degraded his daughter by calling her a “good f***”. Qiao Wei Min incessant complaints caused the Jiang couple to feel exhausted, and so they had to fork out a hundred thousand for Qiao Wei Min to keep his mouth shut.

But this wasn’t the end, as Qiao Wei Min instantly pushed his daughter into the Jiang Family and simply said, “Take responsibility”.

Qiao Wei Min wasn’t stupid, with how many businesses the Jiang Family owned like that one tea house and that one clothing store, as long as his daughter was there in the Jiang Family, naturally he would be able to enjoy the benefits for as long as he lived.

Meanwhile, Jing Yun Zhao didn’t know all of this happened as she was at Old Man Xu’s place.

The old man tasted her wine, nodded his head in satisfaction, and directed her to pack the herbs whilst having a look of intoxication.

“This girl... you seemingly know a lot of things, this wine is good stuff...”Old Man Xu said with a grin, which was rare for the old geezer to have that kind of expression.

Jing Yun Zhao has always felt that Old Man Xu was very weird. Normally, he wouldn’t smile and treat people coldly; he was even more obsessed with wine than Grandfather Gan. Additionally, once he starts drinking, he won’t stop till he’s drunk. However every time he’s drunk, he would lock himself in the backyard which was filled with medicinal herbs and start knocking over the neatly arranged herbs and messing them up, as if he had a deep hatred towards the herbs.

But even so, every time I look at her, I see her a little differently.

Especially when Old Man Xu was drunk, he would look at Jing Yun Zhao with a kind gaze. One time he even shed a few tears while looking at Jing Yun Zhao which frightened her so much.

“Old Man, although this wine is tasty, you should still drink in moderation or you’ll wake up with a headache tomorrow.” Jing Yun Zhao said in a respectful tone, akin to a student talking to their teacher.

The old man whose face showed no reaction but was satisfied with Jing Yun Zhao’s concern replied, “This old man knows, I don’t need a smelly girl like you to remind me!”

“Xing Yuan! Give the medicine letter to her.” Old Man Xu shouted after replying to Jing Yun Zhao.

Although Uncle Xing Yuan was taken aback, he still obediently followed Old Man Xu’s orders and brought a green letter. The letter had a very unique and indistinguishable aroma to it; on the inside, nothing was written except for a printed golden licorice root, which Jing Yun Zhao had no idea what it meant.

“This is the letter of a pharmacy contest; the winner can obtain some ‘benefits’. Master’s decision to send you to this competition is for your own good, as for the date and time of the competition, it’s written in the printed golden licorice. You should go home and examine it yourself.” Uncle Xing Yuan explained.

Jing Yun Zhao was still confused, but seeing the old man’s intoxicated state currently, she could only seriously nod her head.

“Oh! Additionally, within Ning City, the amount of people who wants to be treated by master are uncountable. Previously, they were all rejected, but starting from now, all these sick people are to be treated by you. Master has already given them your phone number, so starting from tomorrow, you’ll probably be very busy, so you should prepare yourself.” Xing Yuan added.

Jing Yun Zhao looked at Old Man Xu with surprise.

Although Old Man Xu was a pharmacist, his medical skills were not lacking, so the fact that people came to him for help wasn’t weird. However now, he was introducing all these sick people to her. This act of kindness shown was a big favour done by Old Man Xu for Jing Yun Zhao.

She was just too young, even if she begged to help treat someone sick, no one would even accept her offer, but with the help of Old Man Xu, her growth and experience was practically guaranteed.

“Thanks Old Man.” Jing Yun Zhao said sincerely.

Sometimes, she would feel sad seeing old people, but one cannot ask too much of another’s private affairs. Hence Jing Yun Zhao decided that she would treat them with more respect in the future.
