For the first time since he came to the fort, Hitori was scared. It was not because Onogi was going to break the staircase and throw the only way of escaping the roof. It was because of the Octopus Father in front of him.

Kamino landed on the ground, his eight hands reduced to the size of average arms, and rested on his back. In a flash, he turned his torso to draw his gun from behind.

Onogi used his hands to push himself away from his father as he took a step and pointed his gun at Onogi.

Hitori shuddered, clenched his wand, and finally found the strength to lift. He took the wand above his head, he hoped it would be easy to use magic with the use of this legendary wand but it was the same as with any other wand. He wondered what was so special about this wand.

But it was time to think about a spell and say it instead of thinking about the wonders of the legendary wand.

He thought about a spell and brought his wand down to continue with the spell, but when Kamino shouted, Hitori forgot about the spell. He forgot even about the spell's existence.

With the gun's muzzle pointed at his son's head, Kamino said, "Stop your bullshit right now, or I will blow your brain."

How could he talk about blowing his son's brain so casually? Hitori realized Kamino must really hate Onogi, for his was treating him– fuck treating him bad– he was threatening to kill his own son!

Hitori looked at Onogi for his reaction. He was angry, of course, but he knew he could do nothing. He clenched hsi fists and stopped moving farther from Kamino. He lowered his eyes, submitting to his father.

Hitori had a hard time believing that scene. Onogi had dropped his head. He gave up! Only if he had given up on killing Kamiya like this.

Kamino glanced at Hitori after making sure Onogi had given up. Hitori wanted to step back, but he knew he was standing at the edge.

He stopped Onogi, and Hitori witnessed it. If he made his son stop instead of making him kill the intruder, something was wrong about this father. Something? Everything was wrong with him.

He would not kill me, Hitori thought, He is here to stop the fight, not to kill anyone. Hitori was convinced when all Kamino did was stare at him with anger, then curiosity.

"W-What do you want?" Hitori asked. "This is between your son and me. He has killed—"

"I know exactly what he has done, boy. As his father, I will punish him."

Punishment? Hitori frowned. Punishment is not what you are supposed to do when your son KILLS a human being.

"And I swear," he continued, "the punishment will be severe."

Even he does not know where he got that kind of courage, perhaps because of what Onogi had done to Kamiya gave Hitori motivation and courage.

He stepped forward and shouted at Kamino, "No! He is mine! Only I get to do what I want with him. You stay out of this, we should complete this fight."

Onogi raised his eyes off the ground and looked at Hitori. He was not expecting that reply, and in such a way. Fear climbed on his face, only he knew what his father would do if anyone ever shouted at him.

Kamino moved his gun away from Onogi's head and turned to Hitori. "What the hell are you saying?"

Hitori lowered his wand and started walking. "I am saying, give me Onogi. It is our fight. He killed my friend, so only I get to avenge him."

The color on Kamino's face changed. He was sour now. "This is stupid. This is why you teenagers are so—"

"Pain in the ass? What else? Call me names, I do not care. Move out of my way, that is only what I care about." Hitori could feel Onogi's piercing stare, as if trying to tell him to step back and not push his luck.

Ignoring the glare, Hitori walked closer to Kamino. "If you don't want to stop, I will have to make you stop. You crazy teens!" he shotued and his jerked up on its own.

Hitori saw the gun's muzzle pointed at him, and no way he could dodge or Kamino would miss the bullet from this distance– they were only four or five feet away.

Hitori had to find a way out of this without lifting his wand. He knew, the moment he lifts his wand, Kamino will blow his brain.

So he looked at Onogi, who was already staring at him. "What? Are you just going to sit there? Get up! Fight me! Oh, or are you scared of your stuck-up father? Oh, Onogi, the Scienctist Gangster is scared of his father, like a five-year-old."

Hitori was acting out of his character, and he knew it. That fact was levitating in his heart, he knew how ridiculous he sounded, but that was the only way to get away before Kamino killed him.

He did not care about dying, that was the last choice. But dealing with Onogi was something worthy of being important. And after he had finally made it here, he was not going back empty handed.

Manipulating others with words and by playing with their emotions always worked, he had read it, seen it, and heard it. But he had never tried it. So why not now?

"Bastard. I thought this was between us, but see—"

Hitori was left petrified when he felt a bullet run past his ear. He thought his hearing was gone forever, but then Kamino said, "Stop right there, boy. I know what a coward my son is, so it is time for you to say goodbye."

,m No. He was not dying this way. Oh, heck no. Then he remembered he was the same man who killed Kyoryu and reached the roof. He could not hesitate this time.

Hitori closed his eyes, clenched the wand in his hands, and raised it straight above his head.

Onogi and Kamino followed the wand, and so did the guys waiting at the bottom of the building. Hitori shot a red flare in the sky, indicating he needed help.

Reon gasped and grabbed Eya's hand. Reon was trembling, but after holding Eya's hand, Eya was trembling too.
