Chapter 250 249: Thief?

Corey was one of the few people in New Earth that had encountered beings that were so powerful that they could kill him with a glance.

The first powerful person he had encountered was the Wandering Paragon- the old man.

The old man told him that he was a tier 8 existence but even a tier 8 existence like him said he was ot going to live long.

The second being he had met that gave him a feeling of powerlessness was the colossal and nightmarish creature in the black sea.

The third was the Paragon Ancestor, or maybe an avatar of the Paragon Ancestor.

There were more like the gigantic serpent in the desert of mysteries, the pope and so on.

Although, Corey had encountered very powerful beings. None of them had stood close to him with their auras unrestrained.

The Paragon Ancestor had released his killing intent on him, but Corey knew that the Paragon Ancestor he encountered was not the true Paragon Ancestor.

It was most likely a clone, avatar or something that closely resembled the Paragon Ancestor, and also had some of its abilities.

If the real Paragon Ancestor unleashed his real killing intent on Corey, Corey knew he would definitely be snuffed out of existence before the killing intent reached him.

As Corey looked at the manager of the Emporium who was not restraining her aura, Corey knew that a tier 6 being was different.

The manager's entire existence felt otherwordly. He had never felt so much energy been radiated by an individual, and the energy felt… overwhelming.

"She's extremely strong. Stronger than an average tier 6… And even some powerful tier 6s."

Corey glanced at Divine who had a solemn expression.

Although, he had questions as to why how Divine knew how strong the average tier 6s and strong tier 6s were. Corey knew this was not the place to ask, and he didn't really care.

Divine had his own secrets, and he had his.

If Divine didn't take the initiative to tell him, he wouldn't go out of his way to ask him… Unless he felt like.

Corey shifted his gaze from Divine to the manager, and his heart almost skipped a beat when he saw the manager looking in his direction.

'Wait.'

'It's not me.'

With a wildly beating heart, Corey followed her gaze, and he realized that the manager was looking at Divine and not him.

He exhaled a soft breath of relief when he saw that, and Corey heard a cursed whisper flow into his ears from Divine.

Although, Divine was his teammate, and the person he was closest to in the Underworld, Corey did not want to catch the attention of a tier 6 with his pitiful strength.

He was a tier 1, and Divine was a tier 3.

According to common sense, Divine had a better chance of surviving the attack and wrath of a tier 6, compared to a tier 1 like him.

Though, both of them would still die at the end of the day.

There was no way either of them could defeat a tier 6.

"Both of you. Come to me."

'Huh?'

Corey had a confused expression as he looked around, wondering who the manager was talking to.

Was there a tier 4 or tier 3 that knew how to fly in the Emporium?

If no, then how did she expect the two people to reach her, who was floating up in the air?

Corey looked at the manager, and he blinked repeatedly in confusion.

'How did I get so close to her?'

'Wait?'

'Why am I so close to her?!'

Corey's gaze moved downward, and his pupils constricted.

'Oh fuck.'

Corey gulped, and he looked at the beautiful face of the manager with sweat dripping from his forehead.

'If she wanted to kill me. I'd be dead before I even knew it.'

Corey thought, and his gaze moved to Divine who had an extremely dark and worried expression.

And why wouldn't he?

The Emporium Manager's gaze was directly on him.

Having a possible hostile tier 6 stare at you was certainly not on anybody's wish list.

Right?

"Although I'm curious as to how you could guess my strength. I don't care."

Calista said, then her beautiful blue eyes moved to the sea of ants beneath her.

"There has been an intrusion in my office. Nothing was stolen, but I can't say the same for the treasury."

Murmurs and loud whispers of shock, surprise, and fear enveloped the entire ground floor of the Emporium.

Calista gazed at the ants beneath her for a second before shifting her gaze to Divine.

"I'm going to check the inventory of every individual present. None of you can reject this."

Calista said, her tone showing that her words were final, and she would not take no for an answer.

"I'm sure you know why I'm checking you first Divine, or should I call you the Vanishing Thief."

Corey's head snapped towards Divine in shock and well concealed fear when he heard the manager's last words which were spoken in a barely audible whisper.

Divine's face darkened, and with a cold tone, he spoke:

"That's a strong accussation you have there Mrs. Manager."

"You have no proof, and I've only been caught once."

"Besides, I have never engaged in such acts after I was caught."

Divine said, and Corey's eyes widened in shock.

'WHAT THE FUCK!'

'THIS BASTARD WAS PREVIOUSLY A THIEF!'

'AND HE HAD BEEN CAUGHT BEFORE!'

'THIS BASTARD HAS KILLED ME!'

Corey's lips twitched repeatedly as he had the urge to beat Divine to a pulp.

Calista smiled. Her smile containing unconcealed amusement, and coldness.

She looked at Corey, and Corey's heart tightened.

"Is this your new group member?"

Corey was about to vigorously shake his head, but before he could move his head, Divine answered:

"Yes he is."

Corey glared at Divine with anger, and Divine glanced at him with eyes that said:

'Weren't you relieved that she wasn't looking at you? See how I drag you down with me.'

Corey noticed the slight smirk on Divine's lips, and Corey gritted his teeth in anger.

'This bastard!'

"Mrs. Manager. I never knew that this impotent, small dicked lady fearing bastard was a thief."

Corey said, and Divine glared at Corey.

Did he just call me an impotent bastard that has a small dick and also fears women?

lightsnοvεl.cοm I'll beat him up!

Ignoring the venomous glare from Divine, Corey looked at Calista with an aggrieved expression.

If he knew that Divine was previously known as a thief, he would never have partnered with him for the heist!

Who wouldn't suspect a previously known thief in the vicinity of where a robbery occurred?!

Calista looked at Corey, then at Divine with a smile that sent shivers down their spines.

"I don't care about all of that."

"Open your inventories to me or die painfully."

Calista said with an extremely cold tone while raising her right hand which glowed with an indigo light.
