217 Hometown

The host on the TV was stunned, but he reacted quickly. “Oh, number four hasn’t decided yet, right? Don’t worry, take your time to think.”

Deng Song, who was beside her, reminded in a low voice, “Just write something!” The camera couldn’t see her, but Qu Zhi could see her at a glance. She looked at Deng Dong dancing and shouting at Yang Jing and felt that it was funny.

Yang Jing obediently wrote a “3” on the whiteboard.

Now, she and number three were choosing each other. Everyone was still curious about this casually dressed and carefree girl. Other than knowing that she was a designer at a popular gift company, they didn’t know what her personality was like.

Number 3 was a pretty good candidate. He was also quite good-looking and was an artist. He did not even look at the first female guest. Instead, he focused all his attention on Yang Jing.

Seeing Yang Jing had chosen her, his eyes were shining and his ears were red.

Chuchu was engrossed in watching the show but was gently pushed away by Qu Zhi. “It’s time. There’s nothing much to see next. You still have school tomorrow.”

There was really nothing to see. Next, everyone would have to choose their own reasons. It would take a long time before they could see Sister Yang Jing. Moreover, her mother had just told her that Sister Yang Jing’s choice was entirely because of Aunt Deng Dong. There was no reason for it.

Chuchu rubbed her eyes as she walked towards the bedroom, feeling puzzled. Why did she still do variety shows when she clearly couldn’t make her own decisions?

She had always thought variety shows were not like acting, where there was a script and routine, and it was entirely up to the guests to act. She did not expect variety shows to be the same as acting with a script, where they had to follow orders.

Chuchu was a little disappointed, but she was still very happy.

She saw her “Boss” with her own eyes on TV! She was going to tell Chen En about this at school tomorrow. Chen En would be extremely envious!

The next morning, Chuchu was woken up by the sound of the phone. She vaguely heard her mother talking on the phone in the living room. Although the sound was very soft, everyone was asleep in the morning, so there was very little noise and it sounded particularly clear.

“Are you not going to be a distributor any more, Mrs. Chen?” Qu Miao’s voice sounded very serious.

Chuchu couldn’t hear what they said next. She vaguely heard her mother say the words “going back to her hometown” and felt a little strange.

If Chen En’s mother wanted to go home, did that mean Chen En will go home too?

Chuchu thought about it carefully and felt it was impossible. Chen En’s mother probably had something to do at home. Children should not intrude on adults’ affairs. Just like how her mother went to work and sometimes went on business trips, she would not disturb Chuchu from school.

Besides, Chen En could not hide anything from Chuchu. If he were to return to his hometown, Chuchu would definitely be the first to know.

Thinking up to this point, Chuchu was filled with anticipation. How surprised would Chen En be when he heard that Sister Yang Jing was on a variety show? Chuchu could not help but laugh when she imagined Chen En looking at her with his mouth wide open and eyes wide.

In the end, Chuchu did not see Chen En at school.

After the morning class, Chen En carried his backpack and walked into the classroom listlessly.

Chuchu saw that his complexion was a little pale and thought that he was sick. She poked him with the tip of her pen. “Chen En, are you feeling unwell? ”

Unexpectedly, Chen En turned around and looked at Chuchu with tears in his eyes. “Chuchu, we might not be able to see each other for a long time.”

Chuchu’s little head hadn’t come to her senses yet. “Are you going on a trip?” What was there to cry about?

“I’m going back to Taipei, my hometown,” Chen En cried so hard that he was out of breath, and tears kept falling. Chuchu quickly handed him a handkerchief.

Chuchu had heard of Chen En’s hometown. Chen En had said they had come from a place far away, and it would take a long time even by plane. Thinking of this, she felt a little disappointed. Her best friend was going home, but Chuchu could not cry. If she did, Chen En would be even sadder.

“What about the mid-term exams?” He couldn’t possibly not take the test, right? They still had enough time to say goodbye.

Chen En wiped away his tears. His eyes were as red as a rabbit’s, and his voice was trembling with excitement. “Our flight is this afternoon.”
