Chapter 57: Chapter 57 – Still Ongoing

[One..]

“ahhh.... I don’t want to die!!!!” Feng screamed, cupping her ears.

The system’s warning bells stopped all of a sudden. She slowly opened her eyes.

The pop up notification had long disappeared. ‘It’s gone...’ she peered at the other who were looking at her eyes wide.

Lady Hiliana let her down and squatted down in front of her.

Feng dropped her head in fear her eyes might expose her feelings. ‘Oh my lord, I lived!!! I am alive. I knew it. This man is an important part. If he dies now the future episodes might be affected so only system gave that notification ah... I am getting a hang of this game now...’

“Feng, Feng darling, can you look at me,” her cheeks were gently caressed.

.....

Feng hesitantly raised her head.

“Did that man threaten to hurt you? Tell me honestly, I can protect you with my life,” the lady who completely misunderstood her desperate cries whispered to her.

Feng gulped. “um..... Nothing like that.... it’s just that....”

She had no reason to give.

This man who claims to be her father was a complete stranger to her.

‘But I think he might have hit this girl... but did he sell her as slaves as well?..’

One’s memory can be replaced or tarnished but the body’s memories cannot be replaced. From the shudder, the fear she felt from just seeing his face, she could come to a conclusion that this body’s original owner had a rough relationship with him.

‘But is it okay to accuse him of something he might or might not have done?’

She did not reply immediately.

Suddenly, a small hand wound with hers. “Old lady... that man makes her uncomfortable. Please make sure to deal with him properly.” Ethan gently whispered.

Lady Hiliana’s eyes went bright red as she glared at him. “Yes, for defaming my young daughter, he does have to pay his price,”

“y-our daughter? ha-ha what is this funny skit? She is my daughter. I own her,” the man croaked loudly as he was being pulled up.

“You don’t own her. No one does,” Ethan loudly declared. His hands gently held Feng’s hand and gave her a reassuring smile.

“Yeah, you scummy man, get away from my Meimei,” Elle shouted from behind.

Soon the entire crowd that was watching started to whisper amongst themselves. Some even called the guards on him.

The middle aged man sat up and laughed like a maniac. “What is this nonsense? She is my daughter and I own her. Is it wrong of me to talk so?”

“It is. You don’t have the right to talk about your daughter like this,” Aiden shouted at him.

Yubiri gripped the man close. “And you don’t talk about my Feng like that.”

“Feng? Is that what you call her now? tsk, tsk,” he glanced at Feng with a knowing smirk. “Looks like you made a new identity for yourself,”

Feng’s heart thudded loudly. ‘He is going to expose me. What should I do? Should I just cry pitifully?’ she wiped at her eyes but darn they were not tearing up at all. ‘Shit!! I can’t even cry now.’

“I was the one who named her,” Ethan loudly declared. “From the moment we escaped that slave ship, we decided to give up on our family and our names. Feng is the name I chose.”

“Yeah Feng means rebirth. This is our second life without a scum like you,” Aiden chimed from besides.

Feng looked at them in surprise. These two were always been on her side. ‘So cute....’ she gently hugged them to her side.

Ethan slightly blushed and hugged her back, while Aiden cutely kissed her cheeks.

The middle-aged man lost his smile. “You better come here to me, Rulia,”

“Why?” Feng bravely whispered. Even now she was not able to control her tremors when she glanced at this man’s crazed eyes.

“Why you ask? You have a place to be and if you don’t go... I’ll be.... I’ll be killed,” the man said in fear.

“You mean the slavers, right? You expect me to go back to them voluntarily have you gone senile old man,”

“RULIA!! How dare you raise your voice against me?”

“Hey, can’t I! The day you sold me of is the day you lost your right as a father. You don’t have any right to order me around nor to tell me what to do.” Feng smiled at him.

“Besides,”

She moved back and held lady Hiliana’s hand. “I have a new family now and even a caring mother.”

“RULIA!!”

“Shut it.” Yubiri cast a spell on his so that the man could not open his mouth anymore. “Lady Hiliana, I will personally send him over to the guard’s station.” he bowed and dragged the screaming man over to the guard’s post.

Feng felt slightly accomplished after this.

But her worries were still not over. The system did not give her task completion notice even now.

‘That only meant that the task is still ongoing.’
