Chapter 47: Chapter 47 – Surprise in the harbour

By evening, the ship docked to the small harbour. Compared to the size of their ship, the harbour looked so small and humble. The gigantic anchors were lowered slowly.

Feng watched this while rubbing her sore nose subtly. The little kids, on the other hand, were not that thrilled. Elle was closing her mouth with a kerchief, and Aiden and Ethan were frowning slightly.

“Guys, it’s not that bad,” she whispered.

“It.... its reeks,” Elle mumbled through her kerchief.

Feng shook her head with a smile. ‘Babies don’t know how to enjoy the smell of sea food, huh? My god, it’s making my stomach rumble. Will they have any local dished similar to my hometown?’ she wondered licking her lips slightly.

Ethan noticed this and pulled on his brother’s sleeve. {‘She is hungry... I think she likes sea food,’}

Aiden mentally noted this information.

.....

“Kids, come over here,” lady Hiliana called from the side. She was fully dressed up in a thick, long dress that came down to her feet. A white shawl surrounded her delicate neck.

“Kids, why are you wearing so little,” the Lady frowned slightly.

Feng looked down at her outfit. She was wearing a small orange dress that came down to her knees. Since they were going to a small town, she decided to wear small trousers that came down to her knees underneath. Her ears were covered with a white muffler, and even her shoes were fully polished and shining. “But I am not felling cold,”

“Oh, it’s not enough layers, dear,” the lady sighed and walked back into their room. She brought out three coats bundled up in her hand. She placed a small red cape on Ethan’s shoulders and strapped him in.

Aiden got the black one with a small embellished button on top.

“Finally, white one for the lady.” she placed a fluffy white coat on her shoulders and tied the knot under her neck. “There, now you won’t have a stuffy nose.” she gently poked Feng’s nose.

Feng sniffed a little. Her nose felt a little sore, and her were burning a little. ‘Don’t cry... don’t cry.’ she held Aiden’s hand tightly. “Shall we go, my lady?”

“Yes, we shall, my dear miss,” lady held out her hand to Ethan.

The kid took it and helped guide her.

Alvin followed behind with a pouty Elle. “I want to hold Meimei’s hand,” she whined.

“Ha-ha, after a while you can.” Alvin flicked her head a bit.

The kid pouted and grumbled.

Just few floors below they lowered the ramps that connected to the harbour.

Lady Hiliana held Ethan’s hand and carefully treaded on the ramp. Elle, on the other hand, shivered next to her brother. Alvin had to do a lot of convincing to move the kid over to the other side.

Aiden and Feng happily hopped on each of the wooden planks over to the harbour.

Taking her first step on land, Feng glanced around curiously. Just from the sight of the harbour it seems like a small town, but since the old lady mentioned that it was famous for its market, her curiosity was peaked. ‘I think they might have crab stew. Oh, my mouth is watering.’ she subtly wiped the corner of her mouth.

Aiden did not miss this small action at all. He mentally created a plan on how to make Feng fall in love with her. ‘Food.. especially food. She also likes candy. I can try buying her some.’ But then he realised the gaping hole in his plan. He did not even have a single coin with him. His small hands clenched slightly. {‘Brother, we need to get rich.’}

Ethan glanced back, confusedly. But he decided to ignore his brother’s mental ramble and led the lady to the end of the harbour.

As they were walking on the wooden plank, Feng noticed a weird ship that was docked to the side. As she watched it closer to her eyes went wider. ‘Oh my god, it’s that cannibalistic slave ship.’ just seeing it made her legs shiver

Feng swiftly pulled Aiden closer to lady Hiliana and tightly gripped the back of her skirt.

“What is it, dear? Is it too scary to walk on ramp?” the lady kindly whispered and held her hand gently.

Feng shook her head. They were out in the open and with five children with her the old lady might not be able to handle the slave traders if they attacked them. “Nothing lady Hiliana, I just tripped on something,” she mumbled, wiping the sweat away.

Ethan was slightly confused as well. {‘What’s wrong? She was fine the moment ago,’} but his brother did not look at him, instead his sight was focused on a broken ship that was docked on their left. {‘Is that....’}

{‘Yes our slave ship. just looking at it makes me feel like we are back to our past life.’} Aiden gritted his teeth loudly.

Ethan tightly gripped his hand. He could feel his brothers’ nails bite into his skin, but he did bother with it. {‘We are not the same brother. We are now free. We are not a dirty slave anymore.’} His hand clenched tight.

On hind sight Feng noticed the kid’s weird look as they looked at the ship. ‘Shit! They might be so scared.’ she ran to them and hugged them tight. “It’s okay,”

Feeling the sudden warmth, the kids napped out of their thoughts.

Ethan was the first one to open his mouth. “Feng....”

“Yes yes, I’m here, I’m here. Let’s leave,” she urged the lady softly.

The lady was very confused with their behaviors but she understood that the kids were uncomfortable with something. She gently kissed each of them on their forehead. “Can we go back?”

“No!” Feng resolutely whispered. “You need to... buy a pen..”

The lady chuckled and caressed her head. “Can you tell me what sacred you then?”

“No-nothing.. lady, shall we go into town fast,” Feng tugged at her hand.

“As you wish then.”

As they were walking away, Feng noticed a pair of eyes looking at her from the slave ship. Her spine tingled in fear... ‘We need to finish this shopping trip as soon as we can.’ she gripped Aiden and Ethan hand’s on either side and walked protectively behind them.
