Chapter 42: Chapter 42 – Silly Decision And Logical Decision

A few rooms away, the twins woke up suddenly. Aiden anxiously looked at Ethan. {‘Someone touched our spell! Someone touched it what to do!!”}

Ethan sat up a little and patted his shoulders. {‘Stop fretting, that person just fortified it. I am guessing it was that annoying mage. No one else could have known about that spell,’} he grumbled.

Aiden calmed down instantly. {‘Don’t you think he acts differently from our past life. I mean, I’ve seen him falling in love with Clarina, but even then he still had the cold personality. Don’t you think maybe....”}

{‘Don’t ever think about it. Even if we speculate now, we won’t be able to find any answers from him. Not unless we grow powerful than him,”} Ethan said and softly yawned. He sat up and looked at Feng, who was still sleeping. It was early it he morning outside. They all slept through an afternoon and a night.

“Feng Mei,” Ethan mumbled as he hugged her small waist. “Too bad you are still young, but I will make you fall in love with me.”

Aiden sat up on the other side and glared at him. “So will I. We’ll see who she chooses then.” he hugged her too.

Feeling the tight sensation on her waist, Feng softly moaned. ‘What is that heavy thing on me?” she turned over in her sleep yet the heaviness remained. ‘So uncomfortable,’ she whined a little, and sat up. Bright morning light from the windows cascaded on her face. “Its morning already, but I went to sleep yesterday afternoon.”

.....

She wiped the dirt off of her eyes and glanced down at the two pairs of eyes looking up at her in awe. “You both are awake!!” she pulled them both in a tight hug. “I worried so much. Then that Yubiri said that you both were just tired, thank god for that,”

The twins’ eye dulled a little.

Feng happily kissed their forehead.

“Feng.....” Ethan hugged her neck and kissed her cheeks as well. “I was so scared.” He whispered with a slight tremble in his voice. Indeed, it was the scare of his life. He had never felt as useless and little as yesterday. “Don’t ever meet anyone alone.” He mumbled, nuzzling against her.

“Aw my baby, it’s okay. It was an accident,” Feng whispered, but her eyes sharpened a bit. ‘That little girl, I am definitely gonna punch her in the nose the next time I meet her. How could she just push me off while we were talking? I didn’t even do anything to her yet.... calm down, there is no use in thinking about spilt tea.’ she sighed a bit.

She noticed that only Ethan was hugging her. Aiden sat with his head bowed.

“Aiden, darling, what is it?” she gently caressed his full blond head.

The kid shook his head.

“What’s wrong? Tell me, did someone bully you?” she cupped his chubby cheeks and lifted his face. Tears were rolling down slowly. “Oh my god, baby, what’s wrong? Come here.” she hugged Aiden tight and softly rocked them both. “Tell me what’s wrong?”

Aiden refused to even utter a word.

Ethan got out of the hug. “He is guilty because he stopped me from saving you,” he said truthfully.

Aiden’s body stiffened.

Feng blinked at this. “How were you planning on rescuing me?”

“I was planning on jumping after,” Ethan freely said.

“JUMPING AFTER!! Oh my word, why would you jump after me?” she pinched Ethan’s cheeks. ‘Especially after I lost my life in the fall. Why would this kid even have these crazy thoughts?’

She suddenly noticed the one in her arms started to shiver a bit.

“Aiden? Look at me.” she patted her back and slowly coaxed him to look. “You did amazing. That was a brilliant decision stopping your silly brother.” she pinched his wet cheeks.

Aiden’s eyes grew larger. “but.... but.... I stopped him from saving you. I...”

“And that was the greatest decision you have made. If he had jumped, that fall alone could have caused major damaged his body. He might have broken few bones and worse, he could have even lost his life. I am thankful you stopped him.” she kissed Aiden’s cheeks once again.

The poor kid started sobbing loudly.

Meanwhile, Ethan was pouting. “But I was not being silly.”

“Ethan, darling, jumping in after me would have been a terrible decision. Even if you had jumped, you would not have been of any help. Think about it, you are just a five-year-old child. How were you planning on hauling a heavy person like me? It would have only put both our lives in danger.” Feng slowly explained it to him.

Ethan nodded, but inside he was slightly sad and angry. Sad that Feng would just call him a child, angry that he did not posses his magic abilities when Feng fell. “Then I will grow stronger. I will become strong enough to protect you without getting hurt.”

“Thank my boy.” she pulled him over to a hug and chuckled.

Ethan’s words still revolved in her mind. ‘I need to become stronger, too. Strong to protect them both.’

She slowly closed and opened her fingers. ‘To survive this world, I not only need life saving equipments, I also need to learn self defense. Who can I ask? I don’t want to ask Yubiri.... then...’ as she was thinking about this, the door opened.

“Oh, you guys are awake!” a chirpy voice came from outside. “I bought ginger soup for you, aunty,” Alvin happily carried inside a huge tray full of food, including a bowl of soup that was smoking hot.

Feng helped clear the bed-side table so he can place it on it. Suddenly, she remembered his greeting. ‘Aunt? I am ten, he is fifteen why is he calling me aunt?’ she glanced at him intently.

“I bet you are wondering why I am addressing you that. I can tell you why, but I think my grandma can give a better explanation.”
