Chapter 39: Chapter 39 – Wooing Her

After a long time of consoling, the young mage stopped crying.

“Here.” Feng handed him a small kerchief from the nearby bedside table.

“Thanks.” he took it carefully from her hand and held it close to his chest.

“umm... aren’t you going to use it? You have something there.” she gestured to his nose. ‘God, I was being so mean to him. I guess I monetarily forget that this great mage was also a young child.’ she took the kerchief from him and helped wipe his tears stains away.

Yubiri gave her a beautiful smile.

He was just fifteen. According to the story board mister Ling gave her, Yubiri had a bad childhood. His parents were going through a messy divorce and his father a powerful mage, but he was money loving.

He used any means to gain money, even if he had to sell out his son. As time went on when he noticed his son growing powerful, he seethes inside. When the opportunity arose, he chose to poison Yubiri with his own hands.

.....

Yubiri noticed this and slew his father. That was his first kill. After that he lost his humanity little by little whenever he killed someone. In the end, when he met Clarina, he no longer had any human feelings left. He did illegal human testing to crazily explore new elixirs.

This all changed when he met Clarina though. His stone heart melted, and finally he gave up his cruel lifestyle to become an official mage of her family.

Thinking about all this, Feng smiled a little. ‘His father tried to assassinate them when he was about eighteen and he met Clarina when he was twenty-three. I think her character was set as eighteen. Then Clarina should be ten right about now.’ she mentally calculated their ages.

“Sire Yu,”

“Call me Yu, don’t be so formal with me. Didn’t we agree to be friends?” he anxiously said.

Feng chuckled a little. “Yu, can you tell me about your father?”

Yubiri paused for a while. He knew that Feng was well informed about this game world. If she is asking about her father, it could only mean that there was a subplot there. He innocently fiddled with his thumb. “He.... he is not a good man.....”

“I knew it! Yu don’t go near your father. Stay away from him as much as you can, got it!”

“hmmm,” Yubiri smiled at her. It looks like she still cares about me. He gently held her hand. “Thank you for worrying about me Feng.”

She blushed a little and pulled her hand back. “No need for thanks and all. we are a friend after all.” She laughed the awkwardness off. “Oh, and by the way, you said you were the great mage’s friend, right? Can you help me check if their body’s okay? I have read that manifesting takes a toll on body so...”

“hmm,” he said with much less enthusiasm as before. Sitting up, he leaned over and touched Aiden’s wrist. “Feng, do you mind me asking how are these two related to you?”

Feng watched him check his pulse with renewed interest. “We kind of survived a big catastrophe together.” She gently caress Aiden. “Is he okay?”

Yubiri checked the other twin as well. In his heart, he was silently cussing his fate. He just got his long time crush to accept his friendship, but now he had to compete for her love with these midgets. It irked him so much.

“They are good. Their body is healthy and well and so are their powers. I did mention this before but are you planning on letting them join a magical school. They are talented enough to get straight admission,” he whispered, looking straight into her deep brown eyes.

They looked different from her original, but still they held the same fire he had once come to love.

“I am not sure. . I heard kids only manifest at the age of ten or so. So I don’t know if sending away to a school at such a young age is a good decision or not. Maybe I should ask lady Hiliana to hire them a tutor if she could.” Feng mumbled to herself.

In turn, she was planning on offering her servitude to lady Hiliana. The kind old lady had helped them out in many sticky situations. It was the least she could do.

“I could do that!!” Yubiri shouted immediately, which startled Feng a bit.

“I’m sorry, come again?”

“The tutoring, I could do that. I could teach them magic,” Yubiri happily offered.

Feng silently gasped to herself. ‘The great mage himself, offering to tutor to them. Oh, my god!! I think Aiden and Ethan might be a talent rarer than any.’

Meanwhile Yubiri was secretly planning his love game, How to make his long time crush fall in love with him.

So the game began.
