Chapter 276 The Truth

Gu Yechen leaned forward, "Do you?"

Several seconds of silence passed.

"The Gu family did not do it."

Another several seconds, and then suddenly, Yi Qiansi burst into laughter.

"Gu Yechen do you think I'm stupid? Don't even try to lie to me. I know who did it."

Gu Yechen stood up from his spot and walked over to his desk. He pulled open several cabinets, flipping through tons of papers. After a long time, he finally found a folder laying around in the very bottom of the third cabinet.

He walked back over to the couch and threw the folder onto the table.

Yi Qiansi looked up at Gu Yechen and then down at the folder, not moving.

"All of the Yi Company's information and screenshots and analysis of its stock in the final days before it collapsed are all in there. There are also records of the Gu Corporation's transactions, meeting information, and basically the work the Gu Corporation had at the same time 17 years ago. You are smart. . . If I can see it easily, you can too. The Gu Corporation did not do it."

Yi Qiansi slowly picked up the folder and began looking through all the pages. His eyes got more and more red as he read, unable to believe the information on the pages.

As he read, Gu Yechen walked over to his desk and grabbed his laptop. Then, he took a while to find a USB flash drive and then stuck it into his computer.

He opened a video and placed it onto the table so Yi Qiansi could see, "Your mother also did not commit suicide from supposed stress. Someone had murdered her."

He started playing the video but it didn't have any sound. From the angle, you could see a woman standing near the railing.

She stood there for a very long time. Then, suddenly, another man entered the recording screen and they watched as the man walked over to a few steps behind the woman.

It took another minute before the woman turned around. Yi Qiansi's eyes immediately widened when he saw the woman's face. . . It was his mom.

He leaned forward slightly, his leg beginning to shake as he watched.

The woman seemed to say something to the man, and they stood there for a few seconds before the woman took a step forward towards the direction of the camera.

Maybe it was because the camera quality was bad back then or because the video was too old, but the movements were very robotic and chunky. However, it was still easy to tell what was going on.

The woman had only taken four steps when suddenly, the man reached his hand up and placed it onto the woman's shoulder. Then, his movements faster than wind, he pushed the woman back towards the railing, and with what seemed like a light push, he tossed her body over the railing, where it disappeared down into the abyss.

The man's movements were very fast and powerful, and it was clear that he was a professional. After he had pushed the woman over, he bent over the railing and took a quick look before turning around and walking away.

Then, he walked over to the camera they were watching the recording from. His face showed up straight in front of the camera for a few seconds before the screen went black.

However, that quick second was enough.

The folder Yi Qiansi was holding in his hands fell onto the ground. That man. . . That man. . .

He was Snow's assistant!

Gu Yechen was not very surprised by Yi Qiansi's reaction, and he sighed before pulling out a final small picture.

"This is supposedly the man who had destroyed the Yi Company. I tried to find out who he is, but he seems to almost be nonexistent. . . I still can't figure out who he is."

By now, Yi Qiansi was trusting Gu Yechen's words, and he immediately reached for the picture.

His breathing quickened when the man on the black and white picture registered inside his brain. No way. . . There was no way.

He looked up at Gu Yechen, who was looking straight back at him.

Then, his eyes returned to the picture and an entire minute later, a soft word escaped from his mouth, "Snow."

---

He Xinyan took a very long shower before returning to the bed, taking her time as she laid down next to Gu Yechen in the most comfortable position.

He spent the next hour telling her his story with Yi Qiansi, starting from the very beginning.

In the end, He Xinyan had her eyebrows tightly furrowed together.

"It must be very painful to know that all his life. . . he had been hating the wrong person." For a quick second, He Xinyan couldn't help but feel a quick sense of pity for Yi Qiansi. However, she quickly pushed it away, or hid it deeper within herself.

Gu Yechen nodded his head as he ran his fingers through He Xinyan's soft hair, taking a deep breath. He had never felt this relaxed in a very, very, very long time.

"But that man is dead now, right?" He Xinyan asked.

Gu Yechen nodded his head, "I still don't know who that man is, but he is dead."

"So, Yi Qiansi won't come back to bother us anymore?" He Xinyan asked hopefully.

Gu Yechen nodded his head again and bent down, kissing He Xinyan continuously on her lips and then her cheeks and her neck and wherever he could, "Yes. . ."

---

When Yi Qiansi returned to the Wei Jing Palace, it was after dawn already.

The helicopter landed on the large patch of grass near the cliff and he stepped off the helicopter, still in shock.

He stood outside the palace for a very long time, looking out at the ocean. The helicopter took off again and the world was almost silent again, except for the sound of the waves crashing against the rock.

After a very long time, Yi Qiansi turned around, planning to return to the palace.

However, he immediately stopped when the bright yellow color entered her eyes.

He stared at them for a very, very long time. So long that when he finally returned to his senses, the sun was high up in the sky already.

He looked up at the sun with a complicated expression. Even after realizing that his entire life goal had been. . . a mistake, Yi Qiansi wanted to feel sad or angry.

However, he could not feel the pain inside his heart anymore.

He closed his eyes, letting the warmth of the sun enter his body.

Snow was dead.

But he wasn't.

He opened his eyes and turned back to look at the patch of yellow.

Will he ever be able to return to the light?

He looked at the bright color one last time before entering the palace, back into the darkness.

The sunflowers have bloomed.

--- Author's Note:

hello readers ~

That should be the end of Yi Qiansi. To be honest, I actually felt very sad when writing that last part of Yi Qiansi looking out at the sunflowers. . . This may be a little abrupt ending for him, but hopefully it will be the best for both him and our main couple.

Goodbye, Yi Qiansi. I hope you can find your way back into the light in the near future! :)
