Chapter 219 Meeting Gu Yechen's Family
"I hear someone! It must be Gu Yechen!"
Once He Xinyan and Gu Yechen reached the stairsteps leading up to the building, they heard a familiar voice from inside. In a few seconds, He Xinyan saw Xu Mengya run out from the building.
When Xu Mengya saw He Xinyan, her smile widened as she ran straight into He Xinyan's arms.
"Yanyan, you're finally here! I arrived at the Gu mansion before 7 in the morning because I was afraid that stupid guy wouldn't let you come again." Xu Mengya glared at Gu Yechen before pulling He Xinyan into the building.
So, He Xinyan was dragged into the main building by Xu Mengya.
She looked back at Gu Yechen, whose smile had disappeared. He Xinyan sighed and smiled at him. Only did she notice his expression soften a little did she turn back around.
The outside of the building looked huge, but the inside of the building wasn't just big. It was also designed extremely exquisitely.
The furniture and decorations inside were not in trend at the moment, and many couldn't even be found in most shops. The interior design used the oriental style, and He Xinyan almost thought she had walked into the historical palace.

She angrily marched over to her seat next to Gu Hanyu and sat down next to him, gently tugging at his sleeve as she pursed her lips out.
Gu Hanyu wrapped his arm around Xu Mengya's waist and glared at Gu Yechen, "She's your mom!"

He Xinyan's attention has been on the old lady sitting in the huge seat at the front of the room since she walked in. She was wearing a red qipao, and her presence was very strong even if she was old.
She had a whole head of white hair and the wrinkles on her face revealed her old age. Her facial features were quite sharp, even for her age, and her eyes stared straight at He Xinyan.
The seat she was sitting on was very large, and it could probably fit three people. However, she was the only one sitting on the chair.
Her posture was very good, with her head held high and her chin up. From her body movements and facial expressions, it gave off a sense of power and high esteem.
To the right, there was a man who looked very similar to Gu Hanyu, but he seemed a little younger. He wore a black suit and his posture was also very good. He had no expression on his face, and he looked straight forward.

The woman sitting next to him had on very thick makeup, with bold red lips and strong colored eyeshadow and eyebrows. Her lips were turned down and she had a very serious expression.
Behind them, there was a girl and a boy. The girl looked like her mom, except that she didn't have as much makeup on. She also had a serious and kind of scary expression.
The boy seemed to be about the age of Gu Yechen, and he had a very handsome face. . . Although it couldn't compare with Gu Yechen, of course.
His lips were curved up slightly, making him look much more pleasant than his sister and mom.
Gu Yechen picked up He Xinyan's hand and looked up at his grandma, "Grandma, this is He Xinyan, my. . . fiancee."

When did she become his fiancee? When did she agree?
Gu Yechen's grandma, Wang Yani's smile stiffened slightly, "Chener, your parents never talked about this. Chener, you know very well that all of the Gu family's descendants have to come to the Gu mansion for their engagement and wedding ceremony. You are breaking the family rules."
He Xinyan looked down slightly and took a deep breath.
She wasn't stupid. She could perfectly understand the meaning behind Gu Yechen's grandma's words.
Anything that didn't go through the Gu mansion and the Gu family's approval was against the rules.
This also meant that if Gu Yechen were to propose to her, or they were to get engaged or get married. . . The Gu family was not going to approve of it.
Meanwhile, Xu Mengya's face immediately darkened as she stood up.
"Mom, it is 20XX already! Whether they get engaged or get married is all of their business. I don't think it has anything to do with the rules."
Wang Yani continued to smile as she said, "So are you questioning the rules laid down by our ancestors?" She narrowed her eyes slightly as she spoke.
"That isn't my meaning. If you really think that them getting engaged outside privately is against the rules, then you can just have them engage again right here!"
Wang Yani looked down and sighed, "Mengya-ah, getting engaged or getting married is a big deal, especially for a family like us. Qinli from the Qin family found a random woman from outside and secretly got married without his family's approval. Look at him now! After all, she was getting old. . . what if she is so angry something bad happens?! He Xinyan didn't want to get involved with it.
Gu Yechen responded by squeezing her hand gently.
"Yechen, how can you talk to your grandma like that? She is trying to help you." Gu Yechen's second aunt spoke up.
She stood up and walked over to Wang Yani, gently bending down, "Mom, calm down. Chener must have a good eye for people, and he really likes that girl. I think that girl isn't bad. Look, she also bought a present for you."
