Chapter 209 Darkness and Light
He Xinyan rode the elevator down to the first floor and entered her car.
Only until she closed the door did she finally let out a breath of relief.

Then, she took out her phone and took a phone call.

"I'm not joking." He Xinyan opened another bottle of water, "I have really big news for you. I want you to put it out as tomorrow's breaking news. I need it to be everywhere. I don't care how much money, but I want it to be on all the news stations, all the newspapers, everywhere. Understand?"
The news director nodded his head, "Yes, yes. I will give you my email. Can you send me the news by tonight?"
"Yes, I will send it to you now." He Xinyan hung up the call and sent over the evidence about the embezzlement, the recording, a scanned copy of the shares transfer agreement, and a video of the police taking Bai Jiawei away.
She then summarized everything that happened before putting her phone away.
The entire morning had gone away already, and it was way after lunchtime, but He Xinyan wasn't hungry. She leaned back against the car seat and closed her eyes.
It was finally over.
She started the car and slowly drove back to the Xihe Estates. She knew that Gu Yechen would definitely be in his house waiting for her, but she still decided to go to the He mansion first.
There were no cars outside, and when she walked into the house, it was completely silent as well.
She looked around and several memories from a long time ago suddenly came back. Memories that she had long forgotten.

He Xinyan left the He mansion and walked over to the house next to it. The door was unlocked, and when she walked in, she immediately saw Gu Yechen standing at the doorway.
"Welcome back, baby." Gu Yechen immediately walked over to He Xinyan and hugged her tightly.
Somehow, this hit He Xinyan's cry button, and tears began flowing down her face again.
Gu Yechen looked down at her and gently patted her head, "Why are you crying?"
He Xinyan frowned and wiped away her tears, "Tears of happiness!"
Gu Yechen chuckled and held onto her hand as they walked into the house together, "Everything went well?"
He Xinyan nodded her head excitedly, "Yes! I am officially the chairman and the highest shareholder of the He Corporation. Bai Jiawei also got arrested by the police for embezzlement of company funds."
Gu Yechen pulled the chair out for her, "You can leave the rest up to me. I will take care of Bai Jiawei's trial."
He Xinyan leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek, "Okay!"
When she looked towards the table, her mouth fell open at the sight of two large boxes.
She recognized them! They were cakes from the Haosu Coffee Shop.
"You actually got it!" He Xinyan opened the boxes and licked her lips when she saw the beautiful 8 inch cakes.
"Of course. Let's eat lunch first."

After eating lunch, He Xinyan and Gu Yechen sat down on the couch to watch television while eating the cake.
He Xinyan ate slice after slice, and she was on her third slice already when she stopped eating and looked up at the television.

"Hello, dad."
Bai Jiawei already had the phone close to his ear, and he clenched his teeth together when he heard He Xinyan speak.
"I don't have a daughter like you."
He Xinyan chuckled, "Why so angry, dad? I will always be your amazing and only daughter."
Bai Jiawei narrowed his eyes slightly, "You had everything under your control, didn't you?! Even the thing with Li Huiran and Li Yuyan was all because of you, right?"
He Xinyan's smile widened, "Dad, you got smarter. It's too bad that your brain cells came a little too late."
Bai Jiawei's lips twitched from anger, "Why are you doing this to your dad?! I can't believe that I raised such an unfilial and vicious daughter for all these years!"
"Vicious?" He Xinyan leaned forward, "The only reason why you aren't dead yet is because I am merciful and took into account all of the years you raised me."
Bai Jiawei flinched, "Dead?! How can you be so cruel?"
"I'm not cruel, dad. You are." He Xinyan knit her eyebrows together, "You gave me life so I didn't kill you. My mom gave you a purpose in life and everything you have in your life. . ."
He Xinyan took a second to watch Bai Jiawei's face turn pale.
". . . but you still killed her."
Bai Jiawei looked at He Xinyan for several seconds before he muttered, "I didn't kill her. What are you talking about?"
"Dad, you know perfectly well what I am talking about." He Xinyan took out her phone and began playing the recording of Li Huiran telling the story of how He Yuxin died.
Bai Jiawei's expression turned uglier and uglier as the recording continued before he finally began laughing.
"So what?! I did kill your stupid mother! She's dead already! What can you do about it?!"
He Xinyan stopped the recording and stood up from the chair. She put the calling phone back down so Bai Jiawei couldn't hear her anymore and smiled.
"She is dead. But you're not dead. . . yet."
It took several seconds for Bai Jiawei's brain to figure out what He Xinyan had said by looking at the movement of her lips.
His smile immediately disappeared, and the phone slipped out from his hand.
He Xinyan smirked and grabbed her bag before walking out of the room.
When the door opened, the room was immediately flooded with light. Bai Jiawei squinted his eyes from the sudden brightness. When he saw the person outside the door, he immediately jumped up and banged his fist against the glass.
"Let me out! Let me go! She's going to kill me! Help me! I need to get out!"
He Xinyan looked back at him one more time, and a small grin crossed her face before she stepped out into the light.
The room was dark once again.
