Chapter 179 The Mysterious Shareholder
"Everyone, I am very happy that my daughter is back. However, we are here today to vote for the CEO. So, let's continue with the voting."
He Xinyan raised one eyebrow and stood up, "I believe that I am in this competition too, right dad?"
Bai Jiawei glanced at her and gulped before saying, "Yes. . . Of course. . . And, since you are alive, you won the first part of the third round. So, it is tied right now. The final round will determine the winner."
To be honest, He Xinyan was indeed a little nervous, because she wasn't sure after these weeks if the shareholders would still vote for her.
She crossed her fingers together and sat up straighter as the vote began.
"There are two candidates for the position of CEO and for a position in the board of directors. They are Manager Li Yuyan and Group Leader He Xinyan."
He Xinyan raised one eyebrow when she heard that. It seems like while she was gone, Li Yuyan got promoted to manager.
Both He Xinyan and Li Yuyan sat a little taller as Bai Jiawei said, "If you support Li Yuyan to become CEO and enter the board, please raise your hand."
The entire left side of the room raised their hands.
He Xinyan wasn't very surprised that so many people were voting for Li Yuyan, because Bai Jiawei had probably bribed or threatened them. However, something caught her eyes.
'Uncle Fei. . .' He Xinyan's eyes widened as she opened her mouth slightly. Uncle Fei was one of her mother's friends, and he had joined the company pretty early on.
She would have never thought that at the last minute, Uncle Fei would still lean towards Bai Jiawei. . .
Uncle Fei looked down and refused to make eye contact with He Xinyan, and she couldn't help but feel a little sad and disappointed.
It's okay. . . At least she knows not to trust him now.
Bai Jiawei counted the votes and smiled, "Okay, there are 12 votes for Manager Li Yuyan."
Li Yuyan grinned and glanced at He Xinyan confidently.
"Now, let's vote for group leader He Xinyan. Please raise your hand if you support He Xinyan to become CEO and join the board of directors."
Under the table, He Xinyan crossed her hands together as she felt her heartbeat speed up.
Everyone who didn't raise their hands did this time, and it was practically everyone on the right side of the room.
Friends of her grandfather immediately raised their hands in support of He Xinyan, and she couldn't help but feel grateful for their loyalty.
Bai Jiawei raised one eyebrow slightly as he announced, "He Xinyan's vote is also 12!"
He Xinyan sat up a little straighter as she slightly furrowed her eyebrows together. The reporters and directors in the room all whispered amongst themselves, wondering how this was going to work if there was a tie.
"So far, Li Yuyan and He Xinyan are tied."
He Xinyan looked towards Bai Jiawei, and she immediately knew that something was wrong with Bai Jiawei's calm demeanor.
Bai Jiawei definitely had another plan. . . Or else why would he be so calm in a situation like this?
"Wait!" A shareholder that voted for He Xinyan suddenly said. Everyone turned to look at the person who spoke, including He Xinyan.
"Chairman Bai, I think this vote shouldn't count, right?"
He Xinyan raised one eyebrow and leaned forward slightly.
Bai Jiawei also tilted his head, "Why?"
"I believe that there is a shareholder that isn't here today. It is Mr. Yi, right?"
Upon hearing this, Bai Jiawei smiled, "President Qi, don't worry. I was about to talk about this."
He Xinyan gulped and narrowed her eyes. She had never heard of the shareholder called Mr. Yi, and he never attended any of the board meetings. Who was that?
"Mr. Yi isn't here today, and he rarely, if ever, attends our board of directors meetings. However, before this, he already entrusted me to vote for him."
He Xinyan blinked a few times and knit her eyebrows together.
"Mr. Yi's vote will be given too. . . Manager Li Yuyan."
He Xinyan immediately straightened her back and turned to look at Bai Jiawei. What?!
Li Yuyan smirked and glanced at He Xinyan proudly.
Bai Jiawei smiled, "Okay, the winner is very clear now. Group leader He Xinyan received 12 votes, and Manager Li Yuyan received 13 votes."
Li Huiran grabbed onto Li Yuyan's hand excitedly, and she was shaking to try and control her excitement.
Li Yuyan was also very excited as she looked at He Xinyan and smirked.
"I officially announce that the new CEO and board member of the He Corporation is. . ."
"Wait!" A deep male voice said as the door was pushed open.
Once again, everyone turned to look at who it was, and Bai Jiawei's announcement also got cut short.
Li Yuyan was very not pleased with whoever interrupted her "ceremony", and she turned to look at the door frustratingly.
He Xinyan frowned as she couldn't help but think that this voice was familiar. But where did she hear it before?
Several guards wearing black suits and sunglasses filed into the room and formed a line against the wall.
Then, a man wearing a completely black suit walked in.
He Xinyan's eyes widened in shock when she saw who it was, and she almost jumped up from her chair in shock.
The man's eyes landed on her and grinned.
"Hello everyone, I am Yi Shao, but I'm sure all of you know me as the shareholder, Mr. Yi."
He Xinyan gulped when she realized that it really was him.
Yi Qiansi!
He smiled at He Xinyan's reaction, and he looked towards Bai Jiawei.
"I'm sorry for being late."
Bai Jiawei stood up to greet this mysterious, but very large shareholder. This was the first time he had ever seen this shareholder in person.
After becoming a shareholder, Yi Qiansi had never attended any meeting or showed up in person.
"Don't worry about it. You came at the perfect time! I was about to announce the result." Bai Jiawei leaned forward to the microphone again, and he was about to speak when Yi Qiansi cut him off, once again.
"Chairman Bai, I'm afraid that you will have to change your announcement."
Bai Jiawei's smile disappeared as he frowned in confusion, "Why?"
"Because I want to give my vote to He Xinyan."
"What?!" Bai Jiawei's eyes widened as he furrowed his eyebrows together. Li Yuyan also jumped up from her chair in shock, and Li Huiran had to pull her down.
He Xinyan's mouth fell open as she slowly stood up from her chair.
"Yes, I want to give my vote to He Xinyan."
Before Bai Jiawei could refute, one of the old shareholders that voted for He Xinyan spoke up.
"Mr. Yi voted for He Xinyan, so that would mean that He Xinyan has 13 votes. Li Yuyan has 12 votes. Chairman Bai, please announce the result now."
The other shareholders also spoke up.
"Yes, chairman Bai. The result is clear. Please announce it now."
He Xinyan's eyes lit up as a small smile crept up her face. What a coincidence! How could Yi Shao be the mysterious shareholder?!
Yi Qiansi looked at her and grinned. Of course. . . it wasn't a coincidence.
Bai Jiawei looked towards He Xinyan, who had sat back down. Then, he looked towards Li Yuyan and Li Huiran, who were still in shock.
Finally, he pressed his lips together and slowly said, "The new CEO and board member of the He Corporation is. . .
Bai Jiawei sighed, "He Xinyan."
He Xinyan grinned and bowed slightly. All of the shareholders that voted for her stood up and clapped, including Yi Qiansi.
Meanwhile, Li Huiran and Li Yuyan's faces were as pale as a sheet of paper.
Less than a minute ago, she was still the winner! She was going to be the new CEO and board member! But now. . . Everything has changed! How?!
Li Yuyan clenched her fists together angrily and dug her nails into her skin.

The meeting ended very soon, and all the shareholders stood up to leave.
As they walked towards the door, the shareholders that voted for her came over to shake hands with He Xinyan and congratulate her.
"Congratulations, Miss He."
"Thank you."
"Congratulations."
"Thank you."
As they were congratulating her, Bai Jiawei stood up to organize the files in front of him. Finally, he couldn't hold it in anymore.
He slammed the pile of files onto the table angrily, making a loud noise. Everyone that was still present turned to look at him.
He pointed one finger at the shareholders standing in line to congratulate He Xinyan and said angrily, "I hope you guys won't regret your decision!"
He Xinyan raised one eyebrow and smirked. She didn't think that he would be so obvious with his anger. Well, it only made her feel better!
Bai Jiawei turned around to leave and tripped over his chair, causing him to fall back down onto his seat. His face was red with anger as he stood up again.
He walked over to the door and looked back at Li Huiran and Li Yuyan, "Why are you guys still here?! Are you not embarrassed enough?!"
Li Huiran and Li Yuyan took one last look at He Xinyan before angrily marching out of the room.
After all the other shareholders had left, Yi Qiansi walked over to shake hands with He Xinyan.
"Congratulations."
He Xinyan looked into his eyes for a few seconds before slowly shaking his hand, "Thank you."
He smiled at her before walking out of the meeting room.
