The next morning, He Xinyan was the first to arrive at work to prepare for the presentation.
As she went through the script, she realized a small problem. Gu Yechen was good. . . But he was maybe a little too good!
Some of the information he wrote was a little confusing to He Xinyan, and she didn't even know where Gu Yechen got the information from.
He Xinyan had to search some words up and read through the script several times before she finally understood what it meant.
By the time she could memorize most of the script, all the workers had come, including manager Yu.
They gathered into the large meeting room and He Xinyan's group went first. To her surprise, He Xinyan presented better than she rehearsed, and she could notice the anxiety in Li Yuyan's eyes.
After Li Yuyan had presented, it was clear which group won.
Manager Yu stood up, "Thank you for your presentations. I have decided that the winner will go to group A. He Xinyan, come to my office."
Li Yuyan's eyes narrowed and she angrily marched out of the meeting room.
He Xinyan's group members all came over to congratulate each other and tell He Xinyan how amazing the script was. He Xinyan guiltily smiled and made a mental note to thank Gu Yechen later.
Everyone returned to work and He Xinyan entered manager Yu's office.
Manager Yu was sitting at her desk, and she looked up slightly when she heard the door open.
"Send me the presentation so I can send it to your dad."
He Xinyan smiled, "Yes, manager Yu. I will send it right away!"

The next few weeks passed by really quickly, and each day was similar to the next as He Xinyan went to the company and worked hard.
Winter came and the temperature continued to drop.
It has been over a month since He Xinyan joined the company, and another big event was about to occur.
It was the morning of a Monday, and it was the coldest day of the week.
He Xinyan was half awake as Gu Yechen wrapped a black scarf around her neck, and she felt like going to sleep even more with the warm comfort around her cold skin.
"You're going to be late," Gu Yechen warned with a smile on his face.
"I want to go back to bed. . ." He Xinyan said as she stepped forward and leaned all her weight against Gu Yechen's body. She wrapped her arms around his waist and closed his eyes.
Seeing He Xinyan's tired expression, Gu Yechen also wanted to bring her back onto the bed and sleep with her.
However, he knew she would be upset if she was late.
Gu Yechen used one finger to lift up He Xinyan's chin, and he leaned down, pressing his lips onto hers.
"Mm. . ." He Xinyan said as she opened her eyes slightly.
Gu Yechen kissed her for almost a minute, and He Xinyan was out of breath when he finally let go.
"Gu Yechen!" She said unhappily, fully awake now.
Gu Yechen was very pleased as he gently patted her on the head, "Go to work now."
He Xinyan grabbed her bag and dramatically marched out of the room. Bai Jiawei and Li Yuyan were both gone already when she arrived downstairs, and she hurriedly left for work.

Once she reached her seat, manager Yu walked out of her office and to her desk.
"Xinyan, chairman Bai told me to bring you up to his office once you arrive. . . Li Yuyan is there already."
He Xinyan raised one eyebrow and nodded her head, "Okay."
In the elevator, He Xinyan clicked the floor level before asking:
"Manager Yu, today is your last day at work before your maternity leave, right?"
Yu Lin nodded as she placed one hand over her stomach, "Yes."
When they reached the chairman's office, Li Yuyan was indeed already there, sitting on the couch.
Bai Jiawei stood up when he saw He Xinyan, and he smiled, "Come over and sit, Xinyan."
They sat down and Bai Jiawei cleared his throat.
"There was a shareholder meeting a few days ago, and we all agreed that it is time to pick a CEO for the company. After all, I have been taking the position of chairman and CEO of the company for all these years. However, I am getting old and it is too much work for me."
He Xinyan tilted her head slightly as she narrowed her eyes. So why was Li Yuyan here?
"Since both of you are my daughters, I nominated the two of you. I had to persuade the shareholders a bit, but they agreed that you two are the best picks for the position."
He Xinyan smiled, "Dad, this company will go to me in the future, so I am happy to take the position of the CEO."
"Who says it's you?!" Li Yuyan jumped up, "I am also dad's daughter, and I should also be able to take this position."

Li Yuyan's face was red from anger, "I'm not an outsider! I am dad's daughter too! He Xinyan!"
Bai Jiawei was also unhappy because he knew deep down that he was also an "outsider".

"Okay. Let's do the competition then." He Xinyan grinned and stood up from the couch.
"Great! There will be another shareholders meeting in two days to introduce you two to them and also talk about the first round. We can expect for this competition to be quick because we don't want to wait too long to decide on a CEO."
He Xinyan smirked and glanced at Li Yuyan, "Sure."
Without waiting, she marched out of the room in her high heels, and slammed the door shut. Manager Yu also left after.
When they were gone, Li Yuyan scoffed and stood up.
"Dad, look how arrogant she is! Dad, we can't let her become the CEO. You worked so hard for this company, you can't let it go to her." Li Yuyan has grasped a basic understanding of Bai Jiawei's thoughts now, and she knew what to say to make him happy.
Li Yuyan was very happy to learn that Bai Jiawei also didn't want He Xinyan to take over the company. That meant she was one step closer!
Bai Jiawei frowned and looked at Li Yuyan, "Then work hard on the competition."
Li Yuyan straightened her back proudly, "I will, dad!"

Two days later, the shareholder meeting began.
Everyone filed into the large meeting room, and Bai Jiawei was the last to enter with Li Yuyan and He Xinyan walking behind them.
He Xinyan recognized some of the shareholders, as a few of them were old members from when her grandfather was still in charge.
They also recognized her, and they smiled at each other. The old shareholders had watched He Xinyan grow up, and she was like a granddaughter to them.
However, many of the old shareholders had left when He Xinyan's grandfather died. When Bai Jiawei took over, a lot of the shareholders also decided to leave.
Therefore, more than half of the shareholders now were new people that belonged to Bai Jiawei. At least this way, He Xinyan knew who to trust.
"Welcome, everyone. I apologize for calling you all over even though we just had a meeting recently. However, this is very urgent. Today, I will introduce the two candidates for CEO to everyone, and we will also be going over the first round."
He Xinyan and Li Yuyan sat down behind Bai Jiawei, and they listened to him introduce them to the shareholders.
After about ten minutes, Bai Jiawei was finished, and he had his assistant project a slideshow onto the screen.
"Now, I will introduce the first round of the competition."
