Chapter 540: 505. Master-Student on Battlefield
In a secret underground hideout,
Obito holds a crystal sphere in his hand and monitors the situation of the battlefield through it. He shares a connection with the Zetsu hive network via his half-Zetsu body.
They are a few limitations to this ability. The connection is one-way and he can't send any message to the Zetsu soldiers.
Black Zetsu pops out of the ground.
"There is a change on the battlefield." Black Zetsu opens his mouth.
"He is back."
"I see!"
Obito also stands up from his place.
"Then it's time I wrap things up."
Obito picks up his white spiral mask and places it on his face.
"Still hiding your identity?" Black Zetsu's lips pucker up.
"Or are you hiding your shame?"
Obito ignores Black Zetsu's sarcastic remark and picks up the Uchiha Gunbai and other shinobi tools from the wall.
Swish... Whish...
He ties them around his body and casts a surreal glance at his surroundings.
"It's time to end everything for good!"
Swirl... Swoosh...
He disappears in a spiraling portal.
Back at the coastal battlefield,
Most shinobis have wrapped up their battlefield. After sealing the Second Mizukage, the mist quickly dispersed. The rest of the shinobis quickly dispatched the other Edo-Tensei soldiers and the Zetsu soldiers. Izumi, Karin, and a few others are engaged with the giant wooden Buddha statue at some distance.
Only a few troublesome Edo shinobis, like the former Twelve Guardian Ninjas, the First Mizukage, and a few other shinobis still lingered on the battlefield.
Swirl... Swoosh...
Obito exits out of the swirling portal and glances at his surroundings.
"Huh!"
His sudden appearance surprises the surrounding shinobis.
Swish...
Without any hesitation, they attack him with kunais and shurikens. Obito ignores them and glances at the surroundings while mentally communication with the Zetsu spores on his body.
'Where is Naruto Uzumaki?'
'He is about to reach this place in another fifteen minutes?' The Zetsu informs him.
"I see!"
Whoosh...
The kunais and shurikens phase through Obito's body.
Ding...
Obito deflects a sword attack with the metal wrist guard on his arm.
Fwoosh...
He grabs a kunai and impales the neck of the shinobi in front of him.
HAAH...
A shinobi attempts to kick him from his blind spot. However, the kick phases through him.
Obito grabs his leg and smashes him on the ground. He grabs the sword of another shinobi in between his hand and kicks the shin of the shinobi.
Obito narrowly dodges the blade of another shinobi by tilting his forehead. He punches the shinobi in the guts and grabs his neck.
Shiing...
Obito uses the Preta path of Rinnegan to absorb the shinobi's chakra. He tosses the dried-up body on the ground.
"Die!"
Suddenly, a giant fireball falls from the sky.
BOOM...
The fireball strikes the ground and explodes. A puddle of lava appears on the ground.
Mei warily glances at her surroundings.
"Behind me!"
She spins around and performs a roundhouse kick.
Swirl...
The kick phases through the half-revealed body of Obito. The rest of Obito's body is still hidden within the ground.
Swoosh...
Mei swiftly retreats and avoids Obito's touch.
'It will be over if he touches me.'
Mei narrows her eyes.
'If that's the case...'
Swish... swish...
Mei makes a series of quick hand signs and takes a deep breath.
"Boil Release: Corrosive Mist Jutsu,"
She expels a large amount of acidic mist from her mouth. The mist covers her surroundings and even encloses the area around Obito. She lowers the pH to extremely acidic conditions.
Sizzle... Sizzle...
Obito swiftly enters in the Kamui direction as his clothes and skin start to melt from the mist. Even the ground in Mei's vicinity melts slowly.
"This is troublesome!" Obito murmurs as the arms of his robe melt slowly. He tears them and throws them in the distance.
The cloth quickly melts into ashes, leaving behind some acidic fumes. Even the ground of the Kamui dimension melts with the remains.
'This Obito is quite cunning. He fooled and manipulated the entire shinobi world for more than a decade.'
Mei recalls the information she learned from Minato and Kushina during the previous Kage Summit.
After Akatsuki's attack at the Summit headquarters, Minato revealed all intel on Obito to the rest of the Kages.
'No one expected a cheerful, innocent, and happy-go-lucky person to become the godfather of one of the biggest criminal organizations of the Shinobi World.'
'The entire shinobi world danced on his fingers as he pulled the strings from behind.'
"Shinra Tensei!"
Obito finally uses his left Rinnegan ability and blows away the surrounding mist.
"Damn it, he still has the Rinnegan!"
Mei crosses her arms and creates several rock pedestals to prop herself. The gravitational force from the jutsu pushes her several meters away from her initial location, covering her in a dust cloud.

Mei coughs slightly and glances in Obito's direction.
"Banshō Ten'in,"
Obito stretches his left arm towards her.
Shoom...
A powerful attraction force acts up on Mei's body. Mei creates a rock pedestal in front of her feet to prevent the pulling. However, the attractive force intensifies, and she is eventually drawn toward Obito.
Shiing...
Obito creates a black receiver blade from his right hand.
Stab...
He grabs Mei's neck and impales the blade through heart.
Splash...
Blood splashes on the battlefield as Mei's eyes widen in shock.

"Shattered Heaven: Falling Star: Tengai Shinsei,"
A massive meteorite of several hundred meters radius appears in the sky.
The massive meteorite tears apart the layers of cloud and slowly descends on the battlefield.
"So, you also want to take yourself with this jutsu." Kabuto's questioning voice echoes in Madara's ears.
'Wasn't that the entire point of the Edo-Tensei?' Madara replies and glances at everyone's helpless faces.
"Now show me your resolve, Onoki!"
Madara smirks after looking at the helpless expression of Onoki.
"Those eyes... they are Rinnegan!" The eyes of Kakashi and other higher-ups from Konoha widen in shock.
They have first-hand witnessed the massive damage these eyes could cause after the attack on Konohagakure. If not for the powerful barrier around Konoha, the entire village would have been demolished to rubble within seconds.
"We haven't lost yet!"
Gaara's sharp voice wakes everyone from their reverie.
"We won't just stand back and watch ourselves die. Even ants will retaliate if someone steps over them."
HAAH...
Gaara claps his hand and generates a massive amount of sand around himself.
"The Kazekage is right! It's not the time for us to give up hope, not until we breathe our last." Onoki also snaps out of his stupor.
He brings his hands closer and generates a particle-style cube within his hands.
Back at the HQ,
Panic ensues in the entire headquarter as they witness the sight of a gigantic meteorite looming over the battlefield, preparing to drop down and reap countless lives.
"What should we do? What should we do in this situation? The members of the logistics unit rack their brains.
"I am steeping on the battlefield!" Minato's calm voice echoes in the room.
Fwoosh...
The next second, Minato disappears from the HQ.
Whoosh...
He reappears on the battlefield beside Kakashi and the rest.
"Sensei!"
Kakashi glances at Minato in surprise.
"Minato!"
His sudden appearance shocked even Onoki and A.
"I will handle it! Just make me light enough to float towards the meteorite and create a pedestal for me to stand."
Minato turns towards Gaara and Onoki.
"Alright!"
An Earth clone separates from Onoki's body. The Earth clone pats Minato's back.
"Earth Release: Light-Weight Rock technique,"
Minato floats in the sky. He flies straight toward the incoming meteorite and makes a series of hand signs in mid-air.

Gaara also extracts a portion of sand and creates a sand pedestal for Minato to stand on.
"Hmm... who's that?" Madara narrows his eyes as he notices a new face on the battlefield.
"That's Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage." Kabuto introduces Minato's identity.
"Oh, he is Obito's teacher." Madara has an incredulous expression on his face.
"The young shinobi hailed as the fastest shinobi alive!" Madara recalls some rumors he heard from Zetsu's mouth during the Third Shinobi War.
"I wonder what's he up to!" He curiously stares at Minato's action.
Swish... swish... swish...
Minato completes his hand signs and raises his palm toward the sky.
SHUA...
A giant Fuinjutsu seal slowly forms in the sky. The giant meteorite makes contact with the Fuinjutsu seal. The seal rapidly streaks across the entire meteorite.
Shoom...
The next second, the giant meteorite disappears from the battlefield.
"Amusing!"
For the first time, Madara's eyes marvel in shock.
"That's the Flying Thunder God Technique of that Tobirama brat! But the scale of this technique, I am afraid this guy has long left Tobirama in the dust."
Madara praises Minato's fuinjutsu skills and Flying Thunder God proficiency.
"Looks like there is someone finally worth paying attention!"
