Chapter 723: Threatened
Nearly an hour later, the bodyguards dragged Gao Ru into the Yu Ting Villa’s living room.
Bsi Qinghao sat on the couch. With the clicking noise of a lighter, he lit a cigar.
The bodyguards shoved Gao Ru forward and she fell onto the ground.
She raised her head to see the cigar Bai Qinghao was holding. He took a long draw of it before smoke escaped his lips.
He appeared as noble as a god, yet the aura around him was murderous and frightening. Gao Ru was left trembling in fear.
“Please… please have mercy!” Gao Ru naturally understood why he had dragged her here.
Bai Qinghao lifted his brows. He tapped the cigar against the ashtray. “Are there any spare copies of the recording?” If this recording were to be exposed to the public, not only Xinxin’s reputation would be ruined, even the Bai family’s face would be completely thrown away.
“No, no.” Gao Ru immediately responded. “I would never dare to make copies of it.”
Bai Qinghao’s voice did not reveal much of his emotions. “There’s a method of punishment commonly used in ancient times, known as Lingering Death, where a person’s flesh is sliced off little by little until a thousand cuts are made. If the flesh isn’t cut cleanly and is still attached to the bone, more cuts are made. It seems like you’re interested in getting a taste of this experience.”
He shot the bodyguard a look.
He immediately retrieved a dagger in understanding and approached Gao Ru intimidatingly.
Gao Ru nearly wet her pets. “Mr. Bai, I really don’t have copies of the recording. I wasn’t the one who recorded it. It was Mr. Fang who recorded it!”
Before the bodyguard could make a move, Gao Ru was frightened into confessing everything. “Several days ago, I received a call from a stranger. She threatened me with my family’s safety and forced me to confess the secrets between Fang Shaohua and Fang Xinxin. She claimed that if I were not honest, she would harm my family. I was really afraid, so I told her about the one incident I knew that occurred between Mr. Fang and Fang Xinxin in the Hong Sheng District. Sshe told me to tell this to Sun Jiamu first, to see her reaction.
But after more than ten days, Sun Jiamu still did not make a fuss about the news. The woman then told me to obtain proper evidence that something had happened between Fang Shaohua and Fang Xinxin. So I went to Mr. Fang Shaohua with the recording pen which I had secretly prepared. I didn’t expect Mr. Fang to admit to it so quickly and was surprised by how easily I had obtained the recording. But Mr. Fang found the recording pen that I was hiding. He used my phone to send the recording to you and deleted it from my phone right after. I really don’t have a spare copy of it. If you don’t believe me, you may ask Mr. Fang.”
Bai Qinghao appeared deep in thought. “What did that stranger tell you to do after obtaining the recording?”
“She told me to send it to her.” Gao Ru continued. “But Mr. Bai, I really didn’t obtain a copy of the recording nor did I send it to you. In fact, Mr. Fang Shaohua had guessed that you would find me and he told me to tell you everything honestly.”
Gao Ru was in tears. “Mr. Bai, I’m an honest person. I really don’t know why that stranger made me do these things. She must be after Miss Xinxin and Mr. Fang. I don’t understand her motive either, but I couldn’t offend her. You… I also can’t offend you. I beg you to have mercy.”
Bai Qinghao’s expression was as cold as ice. “Were the things you said in the recording the truth?”
“Ye… yes, it’s true…” Gao Ru nodded.
In an instant, it was as though Bai Qinghao’s gaze was burning. His fists cracked loudly as he clenched them.
Gao Ru’s complexion turned pale in fright. “Mr. Bai, I’m innocent. I promise I won’t tell anyone about this. Please let me off.”
