55 [The Mansion!]

The skill mana surge was over, so I had about 80 seconds more before I ended up losing my disguise. I should really increase my mana... or perhaps find a better way to hide myself.

"Though for now, I don't exactly need to worry about losing mana, I thought as I looked at wraiths forming in front of me again.

[Life Steal!]

"Get up! We don't have all day... I just came here but... what the heck is this place, anyway?" I looked at Oriel as I tried to act ignorant, but he was too focused on me.

"You are him, aren't you?" He spoke out as he analyzed me," the guy who saved Mirag City. The Dark and Light Mana User."

"Phantom?" Evelyn, who stood up on her own after getting healed, looked at me with her special eyes. She observed me carefully before her eyes widened even more.

"It is true... both Dark and Light Mana Spirits are swirling around you!!" She spoke out in surprise as she took a step back, before I asked again, this time in an irritated voice," are you going to answer my question or not?"

[Life Steal!]

I used the skill one more time, killing the approaching wraiths, before I saw another notification popped up.

[You have Leveled Up!]

[+1 All Stats!]

[+2 Free Attribute Points!]

'Hmmm I still have enough free attribute points, I thought before putting some in [Intelligence] this time.

[Intelligence: 114 -> 138!]

[Free Attribute Points: 10!]

"This should be enough for now, I thought as I looked at those silent eyes still trying to figure out my motive. I kind of wanted to save them, but I didn't want to become friendly with them as 'Phantom.

But I can't approach them as Adam either... such a dilemma.

[Life Steal!]

"We... have found out the person who controls this Island," Oriel spoke out first. He seemed to have lowered his guard after I showed him light magic. So much prejudice and stereotypicality against dark mages, huh?

"I am guessing he lives in the mansion on the other side of the island?" I added, as I pretty much had it figured out. A single mansion on an entire island. Pretty suspicious, if you ask me.

"So you already know?" Oriel replied in realization and I nodded before asking," so... have you guys figured out the exit?"

Once again, their eyes widened. They looked at me with a surprised expression before I chuckled," don't worry. I just have a knack for understanding things faster. Though this situation is messier than even I could handle. You understand, right?"

[Life Steal!]

I turned to Evelyn, who was moving towards Oriel, helping him up. She stopped as she nodded as she spoke," we have to defeat that guy to get the key... or we need enough power to destroy the gate."

'I wonder which one Oriel chose to get out of here. Though I believe the price must have been quite heavy, I recalled the time when I met Oriel after losing memories of Evelyn. The fact that he was there must mean that he successfully escaped from here.

'Or maybe the user just let him go?'

"What do you think we should do?" Oriel asked, as if he had left that decision to me. I looked into his eyes, and it seemed that he was making a gamble here.

[Life Steal!]

Ordinarily, I would have chosen the path to escape without meeting the monster, but since I need at least some information on that guy before my next turn,

"Let's meet him. If it is too much, I will help you guys run away."

They seemed skeptical. Though it's not like they have much choice in this matter.

"All right. If you can get us out of here, I will surely lend you a hand," Oriel nodded. Evelyn seemed in agreement as well before I smiled," let's go then."

[Life Steal!]

And then we moved towards the mansion while killing the monsters on our way. Even though Oriel offered to help me, I simply said that he could save his energy, since it wasn't much for me.

The path to the mansion was quite goofy, but it was nothing surprising. The mansion was dark and huge, especially the gate was quite intimidating. It was made up of dark black metal from which dark mana was oozing out.

-Thud!

-Creak!

Though as if waiting for us, it opened up as soon as we appeared in front of it.

"Eerie!" I shrugged my shoulders before moving into the mansion. Beside me, Evelyn and Oriel followed closely behind. Took about 10 seconds before I reached the inner gate. Opening it manually, we saw the user of the [Chalice of Equilibrium] in front of us.

"Welcome Guests! It was a shame that you had to run away from here last time. I promise this time it will be different!" That guy with the skeletal face smiled creepily as he looked at us.

He wore a dark robe that covered him entirely, while a red and black flair surrounded his entirety as he looked towards us. In his hand was a key, as he kept playing with it, while he observed us. Evelyn subconsciously took a step back while Oriel was prepared to die fighting with that guy. Though all three of them were waiting for me to make a move.

"Well... I would love to talk a lot but..."

[Dexterity: 86 -> 101!]

[Frenzy!]

[One Way out!]

Unless he is at the level of an average God, he shouldn't be able to follow me. Even if he does that, I could have at least some idea of what kind of entity he is.

-Whoosh!

First, I stole the key from his hands. He was faster than average, he almost reacted to me but, he was one step behind, making me relaxed a little that he wasn't as fast as I was expecting.

Though the entire area was almost black, meaning he had already cast a wide range spell covering the entire mansion.

'Gotta run,' I forced a smile before I turned around, picked up Oriel and Evelyn and...

-Whoosh!

Moved out of the mansion...

"I'll take it back..." I gave an awkward smile as I looked at the surrounding area. It wasn't just the mansion, but the entire island was covered in his spell right now.
