Chapter 2033 One Down

The Hel Academy base is covered with many formations.

It looked well protected, to say the least. It seems like they had the upper hand in the team competition. At the moment though, they didn't know what to do. They definitely saw Sam capturing three of their team members.

Those three were handling the offense for them and one of them is even considered a primary attacker.

The captain of the team is conflicted. They didn't know where Sam went, they only know the direction they spotted him. By now, he could have been anywhere. They also don't know the exact status of the three.

By now they knew that Sam managed to wipe out the people that attacked him at his base.

They believed this is going to be a payback rather than just him trying to deal a blow or two. It is much more than him trying to win the game. They became nervous.

The captain who had the responsibility of the team is even more.

He lost five people. All of them to Sam.

But too bad, Sam is not exactly planning on giving the time needed to gather his thoughts. The next second they saw a large wooden pike zooming towards their flag.

*BOOM*

With an explosive sound as if lightning struck a tree, the wooden pike which is glowing with green energy hit the formation. The formation which was initially invisible started showing. It looked like a translucent screen and within that the wooden pike stayed as if it was a spear stuck in a body.

The energy rippled out of the pike as it tried to disturb the energy flow.

"How the fuck is it staying there in the formation without being expelled?" The captain asked his formation expert. The formation expert himself of course, didn't have any idea. He was about to get to the formation and deal with it, but the next moment they saw more and more pikes coming from within the forest.

*BOOM*

*BOOM*

*BOOM*

The pikes landed on more than a dozen spots and the formation expert who saw this widened his eyes in disbelief.

"Get away."

He yelled at his teammates.

*BOOM*

Another pike landed and then it is followed by a very flashy scene.

The energy nodes of the formation which are the formation flags started giving off very minute explosions. Like they are some electric fuses, they stopped working after giving some small electric discharge followed by a small wave of energy blast.

It didn't cause a wide range damage.

However the small discharge and the energy wave are enough to destroy the immediate surroundings of the node. That destruction was not loud rather it is concentrated and corrosive. This is the first time many of them watched as the vegetation around them turned into some kind of powder substance.

As if it was just an illusion a couple of seconds ago.

One of the formations is down.

The attacks stopped and all five of them heaved a sigh of relief. Out of five, three are known for their defense and their expertise in formation. Only the captain is meant to be the primary attacker there. They doubted if they could even put up a fight against Sam.

While they are nervously thinking about what is Sam is going to do next, Sam stepped out of the formation once again.

They also saw the three captives Sam held.

They are conscious now and their defensive gear was all taken away. Sam even took their spatial rings and shoes. He took everything valuable. Even the clothes they are wearing are the ones Sam gave them.

At this moment, they wished they had any energy left in their bodies. They would have ran for their lives.

They felt frustrated as they could see their base right ahead, but couldn't do anything to reach it. They looked at Sam hatefully. Sam didn't care though. He is the one who drained their energies. Their spiritual cores are emptied.

The energy that was used to destroy the formations came from them. Now these people only have the enhanced physical strength, they couldn't even use one spell or a skill that needs their spiritual and divine energy.

Of course, Sam is not going to let their physical strength be intact.

He left some wounds on their tendons with a special poison mixed with death energy. Now any energy that is being generated in their bodies needs to go to those wounds and their wounds wouldn't go away as long as the poison is within their bodies.

Sam nudged one of them forward and said.

"Run."

Sam conjured a wooden pike from the nearby tree. The contestant is afraid, but he gulped and started running forward, only to trip and fall hard.

The tendons are hurting. He couldn't muster any physical strength in his legs. But when he felt Sam's killing intent from behind he started running forcefully. He is not as fast as someone of his cultivation level should be.

"He is hurt. This is a bloody provocation. We need to save them. Or our academy would be the laughing stock to the rest of the world."

The captain cursed under his breath. Every one of them understood the spot they were in. Then after a minute, Sam sent the next one followed by the last one after another minute. Three targets walking at almost the same speed with a certain distance between three of them.

All of them made their way toward their base, where they could have some relative safety.

However, they all felt the threat of death within the next minute.

*SWOOSH*

The wooden pike flew towards them as it tore through the air. The nearest target barely managed to dodge, but the pike still brushed past his arm tearing it. The only good news is the Pike deflected a bit and didn't hit the other two.

The three targets increased their speed.

*SWOOSH*

*SWOOSH*

*SWOOSH*

More and more pikes came at them. All brushing past them, but not one of them landed cleanly. Then only they understood that they are being toyed with. When they reached the halfway point, Sam changed the tactics a bit.

It went in an arc and landed in front of the first target.

*BOOM*

With an explosion, the target was blown back a bit and crashed to the ground. From that crater some vines came crawling out creating a small barrier. The prickly thorns that came out of the vine gave a vicious gleam.

They didn't want any part of it.

*BOOM*

*BOOM*

Soon the three of them were blocked whenever they reached the halfway point, they had to take a different route. If they are staying at one place, Sam is throwing pikes at them to injure them.

They have to keep moving, but they cannot go. And they cannot stay. The three of them looked at their captains pleadingly. At the same time back in the spectator's area the Elder of the Hel academy stood up from her chair.

She looked at Chorus and said.

"Is this what you taught your kids at your Academy? Does even know what the consequences of his actions are? He is making an enemy out of me and the Hel Academy."

Chorus looked at her and spoke.

"To me, it looks like your kids are the ones facing the consequences of their actions."

The Elder looked to the main spectator area. The place where Olaf sat along with other deans, including the Dean of Hel Academy.

The Dean looked at the elder and gestured for her to calm down. Both of them knew they couldn't do shit. But they knew that Sam was now the thorn in their eyes and their students would be more than willing to deal with him.

Back in the testing area, the captain of the Hel academy team couldn't take it anymore and ordered.

"All of you charge ahead. We need to save them."

They came out of the formations by themselves and ran towards their teammates. Sam didn't attack them instantly, but only when they reached the three targets did he start his attack.

Dozens of pikes flew towards them, raining down and wherever they fell the craters formed from which vines came out. The whole scene looked beautiful with green explosions that gave out beautiful vines. But the Hel students didn't think so.

Before they could go back to their base, all of them were down in the dumps. The vines released some very distinguished poison that made them all faint. Sam walked through them and deactivated the formations without destroying them.

He then collected the flag as if it was left there for his taking.

He broke the tokens of the candidates and sent them back, still unconscious. Then he made his way back to the Gambler Academy Base.

He handed over the formation nodes and discs he collected from Hel base along with the flag.

One down.
