Chapter 1997 Attack

Joker or to be precise Sam, almost laughed out loud when he heard Christos' proposal.

"Mr. Christos, you should know that if I want money, I could earn it very easily. If I want connections, I can gain them too. As far as I am concerned, I don't see any plus side to me on this deal."

Joker said in tone that's cheerful as well as carefree.

"I am sure we can work something out. You must need something, just tell me what would make you accept this offer, then I will try to find a way." Christos asked with a straight face. He didn't care about the carefree nature and even the slight ridicule he felt from Joker's words.

He is here for a deal and he wants to make it.

Joker went into a deep thought.

"Well, I don't have a couple of things that I want, but I don't think it is a good idea for you guys to make this deal with me. For this to work out, you would need to reveal your cultivation technique and energy circulation methods to me.

And as everyone knows, that is a taboo secret no one should ask another person.

If I go forward with this deal, then you would have to give that information out."

Christos finally smiled.

"You don't have to worry about it. The cultivation techniques of everyone in my group are special. They are in fact open and quite a few people know about them. But only people with our families' bloodlines can use them. So, even if you know them, there is no fear that you would be able to use it.

As for finding its weakness, there are not many except for the exclusivity. Even the weaknesses of our techniques are known by everyone and we always find ways to overcome those weaknesses.

Please accept my request."

"You are putting me in a tough spot.

Usually, the only requests I get are people asking me share my tricks, techniques, blueprints and research.

No one actually asked me help and guidance for their development which is what I actually like doing. It seems like you did you research and prepared quite well.

The only problem is, it is my policy to not do anything for free."

"No problem, please ask for whatever you want. I will try my best to fulfill it. I have my connections and ways to get things done."

Joker thought for a moment in silence.

"Anyway as I said, there are indeed two things that I am in constant need of. So, I would be shameless and ask you directly."

"What are they?" Christos' face started beaming.

"Minerals and Herbs. You know the resources required for my different researches.

As you can see the research required to make these things is a very complex one and it needs a lot of high level resources. I must say, I always find myself in deficit of them no matter how many I have."

"This is a very small issue. Please tell me what resources you need. I will arrange them to the best of my ability."

Joker chuckled and replied.

"No, I don't mind no matter what resources you can give me. But the amount should be proportional to whatever work I put in. I suggest you provide me a list of all the resources that you can give me.

After an advance amount, I will perform some tests on the students that you want me to work on. I will draft a plan for that advance.

If you want to take the plan and train by yourselves after that, be my guests. If you want me to provide the training personally, then that is a different matter, you would need to pay me based on the sessions and the effort that would need from me to make that work.

Also, please give me the geographical details of your home realms with the list, I will prepare a training plan based on the terrains that you have so that you don't need to look for places somewhere else."

"Okay, I will be on it. For starters, there are three kids that I want you to work with. We will do for three months, if the results are satisfactory, we can make a new deal."

"No, three months is too long. We will check the results in the first Open tournament."

Christos was dumbfounded when he heard this.

"Are you sure, that is not really a long time?"

"Of course it is not a long time, but that is all the time I need. After that we can see what we can explore our further cooperation with. But there is one big condition."

"What would that be?"

"Until now, the only custom orders that I got were weapons, pills, formations, blueprints and such. So, I implemented them in the hub's reward system. This is the first time someone came to me and asked me to teach.

I don't have too much personal time on my hands and I can't do personalized coaching for everyone. Since you are the first one I am agreeing. So, this must stay between us and no one else should know about it."

"You have my word that this will stay between us."

Christos left with a skip in his steps. He is ecstatic.

Meanwhile.

Back in the academy, Sam opened his eyes in his courtyard with a smile on his face. He was still thinking what group of people he should mess with next and these guys came to him. If a fish comes out of water on its own and lays down on the chopping block and even hands you a knife, it would be foolish to not chop it.

As Sam was about to stand up, he suddenly noticed something. There is some weird energy movement around his courtyard. Then he noticed that a young man is running towards his courtyard with an inscription scroll in his hands.

He threw it towards the courtyard.

When the inscription is midair, it triggered a formation around the courtyard.

A wave of death energy collided all over the courtyard. It is not strong enough to kill Sam, but it destroyed everything within the courtyard, the vegetation became dead in a second and the whole residence is corroded.

Most of all, the energy gathering formation that increases the energy concentration in that courtyard was destroyed along with it.

Sam already erected an energy barrier around him before the wave hit. He looked at the young man who already disappeared in a direction. He looked in that direction coldly. The death energy that is rampaging around him suddenly halted as it was all sucked into his palm.

Sam jumped into the air and harbinger appeared under his feet.

*SWOOSH*

He whistled through the air and within a second he is in front of the young man who was still running directly towards the direction of the gate.

"Where do you think you are going? Take what you left behind before you leave."

Sam jumped off harbinger and pinned the guy to the ground.

He started compressing the death energy in his hand. The young man could feel that the energy is indeed being compressed and concentrated, but there is something else he noticed.

The energy became more chaotic and lethal.

His face turned pale in fright.

"Please. Please don't do this to me. I had no choice. A guy forced me to do this. I knew that it wouldn't do anything to you, that is why I agreed. If I didn't, he would make my life a living hell. Please understand."

The guy even started crying.

Sam frowned and increased the pressure of his foot on the young man. The ground underneath him started cracking.

He looked at the wrist band on the young man's hand.

Sam felt a bit confused. If someone is attacking him, then he should have some intel on it, the whole reason for the hub is exactly that.

He took out his glasses and took a look at the young man and the wrist band once before put them back inside.

"I honestly don't care what your circumstances are. You have to face the consequences for your actions and lucky for you, the academy restricts killing students.

As Sam said, he threw the orb of death energy into the chest of the young man."

The death energy spread all over his body and started restricting his energy circulation.

"Remember, I am not the reason for what you are about to face, the people who put you up to this are."

Sam turned around and left the academy.

The young man coughed heavily and he could feel the excruciating pain as if each and every single cell in his body is trying to escape from the energy that is invading him.

At that moment, some surrounding students who watched the whole scene ran to him and took him to the medicinal hall.

Meanwhile, Sam who is already in the city smiled as he thought of the chain reaction that is going to trigger with this incident. But that smile went away soon and he became serious, because right now he is walking to another link that will help him test his new gadgets.
