Chapter 1995 Heated Students
Pearl who was tired as hell looked at the ranking bird and bit her lip.
Her clenched fists started bleeding and her eyes are burning with fury. Sam's actions might not seem like much, but they are an insult to the whole Zeus academy and its legacy. It is an insult to everyone who ever ranked on that board and the current generation of students who are trying to rank on that.
Sam could have finished this floor and went to the next one. It is obvious judging by the way he scored.
He is more than capable of that. Instead, he chose to stop right at the last point and came out at the exact moment.
Right now, he is ranked first among the freshmen of the school. He is exactly one floor higher than them and his score is 29,999 points. He ascended until 30th floor. Second rank is held by Pearl who was kicked off in the twenty-ninth and they are followed by White and Vidyut.
Everyone who enters the tower strives their hardest to reach the highest position they can.
It is obvious based on how Pearl, White and Vidyut looked after they came out of the tower. But Sam who is clearly not done with his full strength and power walked out on his own volition and he stopped exactly just a bit ahead of Pearl.
He showed that he is capable of going further, but he also showed that he is unwilling to go further.
That could only mean one thing, he is here to defeat the current generation students of the academy and he used the tower as that means and his score as a provocation. Which in itself is an insult to everyone who is trying their best to make something out of themselves through this tower.
They would have done anything to get that perfect score.
But Sam doesn't care about it. They would have given anything to rank first and advance further in the first attempt. But Sam doesn't care about it. He is simply taunting them.
'I just beat you and I don't even need to try my best to do it. Beat me back if you can, I am right in front of you.'
That is what they are imagining Sam said with his score.
And they are right to assume so. Sam did exactly that and he went out of the academy do the same with the rest of the academies. That very day, he visited every Olympian academy within the region. The Olympian tower attempt pass gave him access to every single Olympian academy and their towers.
In every place, he just entered the tower ascended it and reached the exact floor above the highest scorer and every time he stopped at that last point. Not completing the floor.
He derived the same reaction from all of his peers in his academy.
Pearl who is resting right in front of the tower heard the news as soon as Sam entered the second academy. But she didn't feel slightest bit happy knowing that there are people who share her misery.
Her determination to beat the record burned even more.
At that moment, she started swallowing different medicines like crazy and got ready to enter the tower and then only she noticed Vidyut and White are already inside the tower and started ascending again.
The tower Elder stood beside Pearl and said.
"One of you should absolutely break the record. It is an insult to the Zeus academy."
It is clear that he is furious. Pearl nodded and walked into the tower.
Similar scenarios happened all over the region in various academies. Watt, Night Ghost, Saber Monarch, Paras and Five elemental King did the same. They were all overshadowed by Sam and every single student in their academy got furious but most of them didn't see themselves breaking Sam's record.
But everyone on Pearl's list immediately used some speedy recovery and got back into attempt again and their attempts went on for the whole day.
That day, Sam didn't even return to the Gambler's academy.
After he is done with all Olympian academies, he flew off on Harbinger out of the region. People thought he was going to the Hub, but he was not. He flew into the wilderness and no one knows where he went.
For the next few days the whole region kept on discussing how Sam dissed the whole Olympus.
The fact that he didn't even bother to attempt the Gambler's academy's tower stemmed some new discussions.
Some said Sam doesn't even care much about the tower rankings and only attempted Olympian towers to piss off the Olympian Students. Some said, this is a ploy from Gambler's academy and Sam is their secret weapon created just to create this situation.
And the latter rumor was easily bought by the Olympian students.
For the next week, the students who had a considerable talent and could be considered a cut above the rest recovered and went to Hub every day trying to improve their skills and they went back to tower to challenge it again.
The supply for pills and potions within the academies started running a bit low and the sales for these supplements went higher. This triggered some business opportunities for some Pill makers and Potion makers.
They even went as far as to take some new recipes through the help of the hub and started sponsoring specific students to showcase their improvement and constant attempts at the tower as a result of the new medicine they developed.
Within a week, Sam changed the whole landscape of the region and another major repercussion of this is the heat the students from the Gambler academy are facing.
The journey from the academy to the hub became an extremely dangerous endeavor to the students of the Gambler academy. They are being constantly ambushed, attacked and being humiliated by the Olympian academy students.
And at this moment Crow is standing in front of the dean with an indignant expression that highlighted his anger and the black eye that he had.
"Dean Wharton, you need to put a stop to what Sam is doing. This is very ridiculous. He created all this fuss and he disappeared. Everyone including the sophomores are facing the wrath of other academy students.
If it is duels and fair fights, we could have endured, but we are being ambushed and being humiliated in front of the whole world. We cannot swallow this."
Dean Wharton looked at the young man in front of him and asked.
"What are you angry at exactly? Are you angry at Sam who made the other students angry or are you angry at the other students who couldn't find Sam and started taking it out on you guys? Or are you angry at yourselves for not being able to do anything when you were being attacked."
Crow's frown deepened and he was about to say that it was the first scenario.
But before he could say it out loud, Dean stopped him.
"Think carefully before you answer. Because from what I see, you are just like the students from the Olympian academies at the moment.
Sam never implied that this is a ploy from the Gambler's academy. He never even behaved like a gambler's academy student even inside the academy. He acts like he wants and he always stayed true to his character.
He cannot control people's assumptions about him and he doesn't care much about their opinions. He stayed true to his character in that aspect as well. He never broke any rules and only made full of use of his rights and privileges.
Right now the student of Olympian academies couldn't find the strength to beat Sam's record and they are taking it out on you guys. They couldn't do anything to the source of their problem and they are finding an alternative.
Now, you are ignoring the source of your problem that is Olympian students and you are taking it out on Sam, which is exactly the outcome Olympians want.
You, a proud student of Gambler's academy that stood tall on its belief to foster people of unique talents and disdained the validation driven academic practices of other academies is trying to snub one of your own because you cannot resist the actions of the students of the academies that you hate.
Get out of here, before I spank you silly."
Dean Wharton turned around and looked out of the window while fiddling with the mechanical bird in his hands.
Crow was dumbfounded. He didn't even know what to say.
The only thing he knew is that Dean confused the shit out of him with a twisted logic and Sam's problem is not going away.
Meanwhile, three more days went on like this before Sam was spotted.
Nobody knows where he went away for the ten days, but many people awaited his arrival and a lot of people made preparations to deal with his problem.
