1974 Soul Surgery

Sam started taking out the research results he had on the lycans, giants and the shapeshifting demons.

The three species that he had encountered in one of the war missions and the three species that he killed a lot of. All these three has one thing in common, the transformation.

The Lycans transform into the beast type humanoid form, the giants increase in size and the shapeshifting demons, well.. Shapeshift.

And all of these are inherent and genetic.

When Sam first came across these creatures, he wanted to understand the genetic concepts very clearly. He wanted to see if he could find any applications with this. His scientific curiosity made him do a lot of extensive research.

He never really thought of using it on other living species though.

But when he came across Stone, he changed his mind. Even though Sam never thought of becoming a god and having that power over someone, right now he is in war with the gods and the one thing these gods are banking on is the faith the people hold over them.

People like Stone and people like jade, irrespective of their social status believed in these gods as supreme entities. Even if their lives are screwed over, even if the gods they worshiped for so long didn't even care for their existence, the people always held great belief against them.

Now, when Sam saw Stone he saw an opportunity to shake that belief.

This compelled him to use his research on a living being.

Sam took all the experimental records and started making some calculations while running simultaneous simulations.

He examined every nook and cranny of Stone's body.

It is utter and complete trash.

Just like how stone said before, he doesn't have an ounce of talent. His bone structure, muscle structure, bloodline, organs, spiritual core, his soul quality, everything is less than mediocre.

His meridians are overworked.

The only good thing about Stone is that his will power. His love and desire for Jade turned him into an absolute lunatic and one great thing about lunatics is that their will is very strong towards what they believe in.

Only with sheer will he managed to cross the boundaries of his mediocrity and reached his current cultivation level. It should have been impossible, but he still did it.

Every cell of his body is overworked. The cells are storing and holding more energy than they should and by sheer luck he managed to not explode.

If that is not enough, then there is the energy absorption.

This guy's body is so bad that the energy absorption is worse than when Sam was in his Mortal Plane Pre-transcendent stage.

A mortal plane transcendent stage Sam had a far more absorption capacity that this guy has now.

Which means, the sheer number of resources that this guy is going to eat up and the time that he would need to progress further in cultivation is way too much.

Even the best of the environments in this world wouldn't be of much use to him. Many would even say, it is a waste of resource on him.

Sam ran a few simulations of his body and how it would reach for various things he is going to put him through.

He stayed in the second floor of the tower in the divine dimension for the whole day and conducted almost a thousand failed simulations. But there is one that succeeded and Sam is going to attempt that.

After that, he came out and called for Stone.

"Your body doesn't have any elemental affinity, which is a good thing for us. Your spiritual core is of a very bad quality, so your body cannot inherently store much energy. The energy you have right now is less than what an average initial stage Astral Plane cultivator would have.

And the quality of your spiritual core is also directly proportional to how much energy you can absorb since you don't have any unique bloodline qualities.

Now, let's take it one step at a time.

Let's increase your energy storing capacity first.

For that, you need two things. Strong body and a very strong soul. And since your body is worse than average, even the procedure that I have in mind to make it stronger needs you to have a very strong soul.

So, we are conducting a procedure that I would like to call a soul surgery."

"What do I need to do?"

"You need to endure. That is it. I will be doing most of the work. We are going to turn your living soul into a specter."

Stone was shocked. He almost felt like the earth is quaking.

"You will turn my soul into a specter?"

"Yes, you heard me right. We will turn your soul into a specter."

"But specter is created with fusion of dead souls. How is it possible to make a living soul into a specter?"

"You seem knowledgeable enough for a miner. Even if I explain, it will be very hard for you to understand. But it is not impossible for a living body to be partially undead.

Take me for an example, I am partially a vampire."

As Sam said, his skin turned paler and his eyes turned blood red. His canine teeth grew a little bit into fangs.

Stone is dumbfounded once again. He learned about vampires from Jade. One of the undead creatures. To think a person can be both a living human and a vampire at the same time, it is something he never really thought of.

Sam didn't care for his shock and just explained the procedure.

"My soul power is very high and I even have experience of splitting it before. So, what I am going to do is, split a part of my soul and combine it with a bunch of specters, I will dominate their wills and assimilate them completely.

Then you will allow your sea of consciousness to be completely open to mine. This split specter soul of mine will enter your soul and assimilate there. When the time for my conscious to take your body comes, it will kill itself and died down.

You will have a brand you soul body that has energy of over a hundred specters, all of Astral plane."

Stone didn't even understand how Sam is going to do it. It all seemed impossible to him.

"Is it a procedure that someone used before?"

"Yes, a lot of specters use this procedure to take over people's bodies."

"Then is it going to succeed?"

"I already ran some simulations, as long as I surrender you will have complete control over your own soul."

"If this is such a direct procedure, why is no one else doing it? Shouldn't the kids of those rich nobles use this method to grow their soul power easily?"

"If you think this is a direct and easy procedure then you are mistaken. No necromancer with a right mind would voluntarily split their soul. And no rich kid ever will survive this pain. In fact, any normal sane person would die, after all during the assimilation the negative emotions of all the specters will be pouring into your soul. You will have to endure all of it."

Sam went on to list out all the drawbacks of the procedure and possible ways to mess up.

This kind thing has never been attempted, at least based on all the knowledge Sam has gained until now.

Sam started making preparations, he needs to make new specters to make sure that stone won't get swallowed by all the negative emotions.

It will take two days and these two days, stone has only one job. Eat all kinds of foods that will increase his spiritual energy, nourish his body and relax his soul. He bought all kinds of stuff that are available in the realm and consumed them while sitting in a formation that is meant to train his soul/

These two days went in a flash. Sam hunted a few beasts within the wilderness and created the required specters.

Then Sam proceeded to prepare the required formations that would assist him and Stone in handling the procedure smoothly.

And soon it is time for the admission test of the Gambler's academy.

The whole city is waiting for this. This is the last test within the surrounding regions and all the students who failed in the Olympian academies until then are now trying out here.

This is the last chance for many of them, or they would have to wait another year.

Even though a year is not a big deal for many of them at their cultivation level, one year of training in an academy puts their peers way ahead of them. They cannot let this happen.

Pearl is also interested in the test and came to witness it as a spectator.

There are two reasons and one of them is to see if Sam is going to participate in this test. She wanted to see what kind of miracle he would pull off in this one.
