Sam distributed everything that is needed for the formation among the people.
They didn't have to do much. The major task is dodging the birds made out of that molten rock and their massive number. Once they dodge and reach the marked spot, all they have to do is place the puppet set up that Sam has prepared.
When the cultivators of the city got the instructions, they divided themselves into small teams and started moving out one by one.
During his stay inside the tower, the number of birds increased by dozens of times. A lot of rocks on mountain have disappeared. On top of that when these birds are finally being destroyed, they are leaving a lot of residue on the ground.
Basically, the fight is going to change the terrain of the whole thing.
The main problem from this is, if the terrain changes too much, Sam's formation will be effected, so he had to speed up the process.
He even used Hopper's ability to jump through space and transferred a bunch of teams out to increase the speed. While they were busy doing that, Sam made himself busy with setting up the formation. He made most of the core components within the tower, so he doesn't have too much work to do.
The only precaution is that the set up is a bit delicate and he has to be careful.
As Sam laid down the formation, he couldn't help but take a look at the sky once in a while. The fiery birds made of molten rock are moving around like missiles shot. This almost brought him some memories of suicidal attacks done by two armies in close range.
After the advancement of weaponry on modern earth, the infantries and such had much more destructive power in their hands and Sam has seen this kind of scenario happen more than once when two opposing forces were in a deadlock.
They would just go crazy and destroy the other party even at the cost of their own lives.
This appeared to be like that. And he didn't like it one bit. He hurried up with the formation. Within an hour or so, he was done with that and even went on to help the rest.
After everything was set up, he called for everyone.
"Just stay back and don't do anything outside of the formation. Unless something or someone breaches the defensive formation, don't interfere anything else. From now on, it is going to be me against the disaster once again."
Sam took a deep breath and sat in the middle of the core.
He is calm and collected as water elemental energy surged out of his body. A large sphere of pure water elemental energy came out of his body and it condensed more and more until it turned into liquid form.
The aqua blue color of the liquid made it looked like some gel. It is not pure liquid form that he gets from actually liquifying the energy. Like how he uses it in the capsules.
This is a bit of a lesser form.
But for now, it is going to work out pretty well.
After the energy formed a large sphere big enough to envelop a house manifested completely, he started modifying the energy bit by bit. The layer that was closest to him is the first one to change.
The color slowly but steadily morphed into the one that of ice blue and that is slowly spreading more and more.
Meanwhile, Sam's beasts that are outside the formation, fighting against the molten rock birds started retreating. They weren't injured, but even they are having a hard time with the numbers. Coupled with the intense durability, this massive number is way too high even for them.
Once they retreated though, the power of these numbers showed to its fullest.
The birds didn't have any special attacks. Except for some explosiveness and the impact that comes from its materials and elements. They can't do some flame throws or some earth manipulation. They are basically missiles that can change their own direction without a homing device.
And when they are attacking the formation, there are almost three dozen impacts happening at the same time. And every attack made the formation fluctuate at least three times. The formation vibrating to its core.
Luckily, Sam did a very heavily layered formation. So, the impact and vibrations were distributed among all of them. Which made the formation more durable. The city members who were already terrified just drowned in a new sense of horror.
They really wished this was all a nightmare and it would be gone if they open their eyes.
Of course, not all wishes come true.
As the formation is bombarded bit by bit, the aqua colored gel around Sam started turning into Iceblue. But now half of it turned into that color and three layers of the formation were destroyed.
Sam just continued converting that energy and three more layers were destroyed before he was done.
Once the whole sphere of energy was converted to ice elemental energy, it entered the new formation he set up.
All of a sudden, it felt like a huge energy storm was occurring. The massive influx of ice elemental energy into the formation made it contrast with the heat they are facing until then. At the same time, the citizens saw some icy blue glows appearing at various spots in the mountains and valleys.
They are like beacons that are attracting their attention. Just like how a large sphere of ice elemental energy was around Sam, the energy around the beacons is also reacting and resonating to create a similar sphere.
Of course, they cannot be of the same size as the one around Sam. It would literally take days to do that and the energy in the valley might not even be sufficient. There are that many beacons Sam left in the valley and the mountains.
There spheres formed were one third of the original sphere around Sam.
If one looked at the spot where these spheres appeared, they would notice that there is a humanoid puppet in the middle of each sphere., This puppet is very similar to the one he used back when he was fighting the giants, but this is slightly different.
These puppets don't have their individual energy source, but their mechanisms are a lot of more flexible.
Sam took a deep breath and made his next move.
The surrounding massive sphere of ice elemental energy once again compressed in an instant. The compressed energy is concentrated near his heart and got connected to his circulatory system. In the same way, the smaller spheres around the humanoid puppets were also condensed and contracted to a very small size, before they entered the area of the heart.
The puppets started glowing. There is vein pattern on all of their body that originated from the spot of the heart and it looked like a genuine circulatory pattern.
This also made another change to the puppet, the puppets gained the mobility they lacked because of the absence of the energy source.
The puppets immediately jumped from their spots as they levitated in the air. But there is a vein of ice elemental energy that acted like a rope and connected it to the spot where it initially was. As soon as the puppets rose into the air, the nearest molten rock birds shifted their focus to them.
The citizens who were closest to this debacle happening watched it intently.
When three birds charged at one puppet, the puppet took a stance like a real cultivator and dodged them smoothly, while landing a few karate chops on their wings and the backs. The birds were frozen partially. The fire energy was exhausted in those places.
When Sam attacked previously with his own energy, it didn't work well, because the fire eventually swallowed the ice, but now it didn't happen, it is almost like the fire is repellant to this eyes.
The puppet turned around acted as if it is a real cultivator and caught a hold of the birds before they could escape. It really caught two of them with its hands like they are real birds.
Ice energy seeped into them and the fire died before both the birds fell down gently on to the ground.
He moved on to the third.
Similar things happened in all the places. Every single puppet is fighting like a real cultivator. Some of using staves made of ice, some are using ice sabers, some are using ice swords and some are using ice claws. But they are all fighting in a different style.
The only thing that changed is their approach to the fight.
They are not charging blindly, they are acting smart, they are matching the pace and the movements of the birds and then they are taking them down in the most efficient way.
Even their attacks are not destructive. They are only being used to freeze the birds and stop them from moving.
