Sam kept on counting as one giant after another fell.
The commander is having a hard time to figure where the attacks are coming from. Some speculated that it is a curse, but some giants did see some projectile hitting their companions, so they dismissed the idea.
One of them even tried to catch one with their own hand, which turned out to a be a stupid decision. The bullet exploded in their hand it was gone.
Sam just continued shooting them down.
After he hit thirty, he took a short break. He looked at Mitra and smiled.
"What are you smiling at? What kind of stupid machine is that? It is taking the joy out of a battle."
"What? You search for pleasure in a battle?"
"There is pleasure in a battle. Particularly in a head on confrontation. Even if it appeared unfair, at least in the last moment of death, we can say that we gave it our all. Same goes for the opponent, but the abomination you are using takes that away from everyone involved."
"Unlike you, I don't find pleasure in war. I find pleasure at my home and I pursue destruction in war. Maybe a challenge now and then. Anyway, a bet is a bet. I only have 18 more targets to go."
"Then you should hurry up. The commander is calling everyone back towards the city. Its seems like he is going to make a move himself. You better be careful."
"No worries. As I said a challenge occasionally is good."
"If you are that much into challenges, how about I give you one? Double or nothing?"
"Are you sure? I have a knack for winning things. In fact, if you knew my history, a bet is the last thing that would come to your mind."
"Stop with your blabbering. Are you in or not?"
"I am in."
"Then the remaining eighteen targets, take down people that are higher level than you. I noticed that all the people you took down are of the same level as you. Divine Plane Initiation Initial Stage. Take down people from middle stage. Then we can double the wager."
Sam just smiled and aimed the rifle.
*BANG* *BANG*
"Thirty One"
"Thirty Two."
Mitra just opened his mouth wide open as he looked at the two targets that fell. They are retreating towards the city based on their commander's orders and they were killed.
Sam just kept on shooting, but after three more kills, the troops are way too near the city.
The commander who is floating in the sky outside of the city around carefully.
Sam knew that there is a great chance that the commander will spot him if he just kept on killing from the same spot.
He still has thirteen more kills.
He looked at the targets. Some of them are inside the city, but since the formation is done in, there is no point in hiding in the city.
The Commander took a deep breath and said.
"Myriad Stone Giant Formation."
As soon as his words came out, all the giants got into a defensive formation. Stones rose from the ground and a structure that almost looked like a fortress appeared in front of the city. All the giant troops are behind that, including the Commander.
Sam looked at the formation and raised an eyebrow.
He shot at a spot.
*BANG* *DING*
The bullet only managed to make a small dent on the stone wall. And Sam suddenly felt a gaze pass through his spot. Luckily, he didn't shoot straight a head and instead aimed at one of the corners of the structure.
So, the commander was still not clear of his location.
"The defense is working. Strengthen the walls and keep on changing the positions."
Then he took out a communication token and called for someone.
Three giants that are wearing a special uniform arrived.
"Search the whole forest. Find the perpetrator."
The order was passed and the three of them suddenly dissolved into the earth.
Meanwhile, Mitra had a grin on his face.
"Seems like your attacks are not working anymore. What are you planning to do?"
"Come on, you really think that is the only attack I have? Grow up dude. After seeing all the things I have done, you thought, I am only capable of that much."
Sam clicked a button on the rifle.
It started glowing very faintly.
He then activated energy vision, but he was surprised to see that he was unable to see through the stone wall.
But he is not discouraged. After all, he has more than one means to watch over people.
He closed his eyes and looked at the crystal table.
"Oy, why are you closing his eyes? Are you giving up?"
"Can you shut up?"
"Why should I? I should only shut after you won the bet, not before."
Sam didn't say anything and just aimed his rifle.
*BANG*
A bullet shot through the air, whistled as it cut through the wind currently and it clashed with the stone wall.
But the stone wall didn't burst open. The bullet has concentrated wind elemental energy and it is spiralling as it travelled through the air. As soon as it hit the stone wall, it drilled through the structure and hit the target right on the head.
*BANG* *CRUSH*
The head of the giant exploded. But the stone structure didn't disappear.
The commander became furious. Even with a formation like this, someone managed to kill their subordinates. This is inexcusable.
He didn't care anymore and spread his senses to their maximum limit.
"I will see where you can hide."
Sam reduced his presence to the bare minimum. Apart from his formation working on full swing trying to hide his presence, his body slowly turned into that of wood. Wood elemental fusion and he fused himself with the tree.
But he knew that he if fired some shots the other party would be able to catch him. But he decided that it is about time he acted a bit daringly.
"Mitra, have you ever heard of a term called rapid fire?"
"Isn't it when some shoots arrows rapidly? Every archer does that."
"I will show you my version then."
*BANG* *BANG*
*BANG* *BANG*
*BANG* *BANG*
*BANG* *BANG*
*BANG* *BANG*
Ten shots fired one after another all of them aimed at the stone structure at different spots.
The commander whose divine sense was at its maximum instantly noticed when bullets entered his sensory range. But even at his level, he couldn't stop them.
*CRASH*
The stone was collapsed as all the bullets drilled into it one after another, almost at the same time. Ten giants became dead bodies in less than a second.
And the commander finally locked down in the direction Sam is standing in.
Sam just smiled as he noticed his gaze.
"We are in trouble Sam. Let's get out. I can't kill that commander."
"Come on, there is still some time before the bet."
"The commander will take three seconds, before he spots you and kills you. We are not that far away."
"Three seconds. It is more than plenty."
Sam waved his hand and three bullets appeared. He put two of them in his mouth while he inserted the third one in the rifle.
"I only need to hit two more targets after all."
Sam aimed the rifle straight at the commander who started making his way towards him.
Mitra looked at him and widened his eyes in disbelief.
"Oy, are you fucking crazy? You are aimining at the commander."
Sam just smiled and shot.
*BAANG*
A massive explosive sound came as the bullet shot out of the rifle.
As it made its way towards the commander, the surrounding trees became distorted with the wind elemental energy. The whole area looked like a very highly concentrated tornado hit a specific straight line.
The commander who saw the bullet coming at him frowned. He could feel a very slight sense of danger, but the bullet also gave him the direction in which the perpetrator is.
His body turned into a stone as he activated fusion and started moving forward.
*BAM*
The bullet made an impact and then only the commander understood the significance of it.
The explosive wind elemental energy is not just spiritual energy, it is divine energy and the divine energy is almost in its purest form.
Blood spurted out as the commander was thrown backward.
Mitra's jaw almost hit the ground. He looked at Sam and then at the commander. He didn't understand how such an explosive energy came out of such a small bullet and then only he noticed the bullets in Sam's mouth.
They are a bit different from the bullets he previously showed.
These are transparent and there is some liquid within them. The liquid is filled to the brim that it looked like a metal one.
Sam picked another bullet from his mouth and aimed at the commander once again.
*BOOM*
The explosive bullet cut through the air and appeared in front of the commander in the fraction of a second.
But this time, he didn't dare to take it head on. He dodged, only to realize that behind him is the city and a lot of his subordinates.
