1872 Trap
The interesting lead is Water Giants.
Just like how the fire giants are trying to establish themselves in and around the fire city, the water giants are also trying to do the same with the Water city. The interesting part is of course the intersection of the territory.
Both cities share a bit of common territory and both sides want to take that common ground to themselves with no intention of sharing.
The humans who owned the territory before were harmonious and they didn't bother with the trivial details like that.
But the Giants are not like that.
They already had a lot of friction before Sam even put his fingers in this mess.
But his recent endeavors of destroying the exploration team as well as killing a lot of giants with water elements and Brute force definitely made the fire giants angry.
So, because of that some of the high performers under the young master noticed his displeasure and decided to take this chance to get back at the Water Giants.
In that process, they started mobilizing their forces to scout, plan and target some of the water giants.
Sam with his snooping around managed to get a hint of this.
Two squad leaders under the Fire Giant Young master teamed up together to kidnap a young master from the Water Tribe. Water Giant young master has the same official status of the Fire Giant Young master.
But their capabilities and standing in their respective tribes are different by a large margin. The Fire Giant young master is capable as well as ambitious. But the Water Giant young master is not on par with him.
Of course, the father of Water Giant young master is still trying to push him further and make him compete with the fire giant young master. Just to make sure that the standing of his lineage wouldn't end in their tribe.
Sam doesn't know what the two squad leaders are trying to achieve by getting this young master. But whatever it is, Sam wanted to make use of it and devised a plan that will set up a perfect fuse for him.
As soon as he gets the signal from the Fire Giant Tribe, he would set off that fuse.
As part of that plan, he just let the squad leaders proceed with whatever they wanted to do. That way, he could just build on whatever they wanted to do. He would be free from a lot of hard work.
Meanwhile, Sam looked for the Fire Heart and unlike the Giants, he is not clueless on how to find it.
In fact, the Giants are not completely clueless. The geographical indicators of a Fire heart are pretty strict, but they are not that hard to identify. The hardest part might be pinpointing the exact location after identifying all the indicators.
Of course, not for Sam.
The first thing Sam searched for is the nearest resource point and with the knowledge from the Giants, he killed it was a piece of cake.
He didn't have to put in much effort to do that. He came across a mine that produces an ore with a fire affinity. Sam collected some samples from the mine and did some tests. These tests are to determine the affinity as well as the purity of the ore in its natural form.
Based on that, he started looking for the location of the core of the mine. It would be hard with even a Divine Plane Cultivator's sense. Particularly when a mine was created from multiple veins like the one Sam came across.
But Sam used his most basic natural ability that came with his spiritual core and his body.
The observation ability.
He went deep into the mines and used his observation ability. He ignored all the secondary veins of the mine and soon reached the exact core.
From there, he calculated the core's distance from the surface. After pinpointing that location, Sam came back to the surface and searched for a different resource point.
A fertile field that has the best productivity when it comes to growing plants.
This one is a bit trickier than before. But after a couple of days of searching, he managed to find that too. He marked that location too.
Then a three-dimensional holographic map started being generated on the second floor of the tower.
There are two elements currently. One is the core of the vine and the other one is the center of the fertile field.
He scaled the simulations down and created a smaller-sized replica.
Now, he started mapping some coordinates from these two points as a reference. He created a circle and started searching within the circle based on the information he got from the Giants.
He marked twenty four resource points. Core of each resource point is at a different location underneath the ground. And after mapping out all of these cores, he calculated the position that could most likely be the location of the fire heart.
It is just a bit advanced geometry for him.
Sam looked at Mitra who is looking bored.
"So, what are we doing today? Looking for another mine that is occupied by the fire giants? I am bored man. I got news that my brother is killing these giants left and right at the front line. I want to have some fun too."
Sam just casually asked.
"So, what is the status at the frontline? Shall we do our thing? Do they need the distraction yet?"
"I don't know. But from the latest report, we might have to do that tomorrow or day after. What are we doing? Sending the captured giants into berserk mode and then into their camp? I like that. If we create enough chaos we can definitely deal with the young master too."
"I have a better plan now. And the timing is just right."
As they are speaking, Mitra's communication token started vibrating.
He picked up the call and it only lasted for a minute.
"We got a go-ahead. We need to create a distraction within a couple of days."
"Good. Let's go then."
"Where?"
"To deliver something. On the way, let's capture a couple of the Fire Giants."
They took off. On their way, just like Sam said, they ambushed a fire Giant team from one of the groups that Sam already marked before.
After that was done, he went to the combined territory of water and fire giants. The common territory is the place where both factions are secretly clashing at the moment and that is also the territory where the young master of the Water giant was targeted by the fire giant squads.
Sam went to the location of both the squad leaders that are plotting to capture the water giant young master.
At that location in a cave.
"So, how are we proceeding further? We are wasting a lot of time. the more time we waste here, the less time we will have to find out the location of whatever young master is looking for."
One of the squad leaders said in frustration. Even within the faction of the young master, there are a bunch of sub-factions. Everyone is out for their own benefit.
And right now, the small faction of these two squad leaders is a lot behind compared to other factions. At least they are trying hard to find the fire heart, but these two guys are just on to the young master of the water tribe.
Because they resigned themselves that the fire heart the young master was looking for didn't exist.
"Just a little longer. The scouts will know as soon as the Water Giant's young master makes a move. Then we move as well."
*THUD*
As they are discussing, they all heard a loud thud far away. They spread their senses immediately and saw a scene that made their eyes wide open.
They immediately ran to that spot.
In the middle of the forest, there is a large crater in which a fire giant is lying down lifeless.
He has a bunch of injuries on his body.
Both of them flew down. They are anxious because they recognized this man. He is one of the scouts.
"What the fuck happened to him?"
One of the squad leaders asked as he looked around while the other one examined the dead body.
"Water element. Crushed organs. It looks like a person from a young master's team. His personal squad has a fighting style that usually causes this."
Both squad leaders gritted their teeth. Soon after they examined the body, they found something inside the fire giant. A recording crystal. It is not even in his stomach. It seems like he tried swallowing the recording crystal but it was stuck in the middle of his throat.
Even though the two squad leaders didn't like it, they cut him open and took the recording crystal out.
They hesitated a bit before looking at the contents.
Both of them are surprised, but then a look of determination and excitement followed. What they didn't know is that at that exact moment, they fell for a trap that would be impossible for them to even understand.
