1858 Planetary War

Kartikeya finalized Sam’s selection and sent him away to the planet he was supposed to be at.

He is really looking forward to confronting Zeus and watching him stifle his anger.

He disappeared after that.

Sam felt the suction force from a wormhole that appeared out of nowhere. Before long he disappeared from the spot and reappeared in a forest. There is a large stone statue in front of him once again.

It is a statue of Kartikeya but this time, instead of a waterfall it is covered with lot of vines and there are even some plants growing from within the cracks of that statue.

It is an old one and it hasn’t been visited by anyone for a really long time. Just like the previous statue.

Sam is a bit amused by this situation. After all, from his knowledge Kartikeya is actually a very popular and fair god. He was worshipped well and he was known to take care of his worshippers. In fact, he has never seen any other god within the game have statues of this size.

Judging by the altars around these statues it is apparent that the rituals used to be a common thing around here. But why are they abandoned?

In his previous task, he has done some research about the gods worshiped in Dark Sea Sect, but there is no mention of Kartikeya anywhere.

.....

It is almost as if all of his followers disappeared into thin air one day.

He is certainly curious and would like more details. But right now is not the time for that.

The first thing he did is open up the dimensional drifter to check his current location. He is far away, like really far away from home. He believed that if he used an interdimensional space gate from desolate to here, it would cost at least annual output five to ten spirit stone mines.

It is way too expensive.

He marked the coordinate of the temple that he is currently in, he decided to use this as his base of operations for now.

After that, he left out the beasts.

Yanwu and the rest appeared. He looked at them and took out a bunch of large fruits.

The fruits that he made using the corpses of Solar Sect members. He only took out the smallest fruits out of them though.

He also luckily had all the elements he needed and gave those fruits to the beasts. Two each.

Yanwu had two fire element ones, Sky two wind, beasts like Mia who has both water and poison got one of each.

Dia got one earth fruit and one metal fruit.

The beasts looked at the fruits and consumed them hurriedly.

These fruits are the condensed essence of different elemental energies of Divine Plane cultivators, they absolutely beneficial for their cultivation. Sam decided to take advantage of the current situation to the maximum.

From the way things are, he decided that it is about time that he stopped holding back. All this while, he has been taking a step back to allow the rest of the players to catch up.

It was fine until now because Sam really didn’t have any benefits for moving forward faster. And he needed all the other players to cause enough chaos so that he could have easier time in the tasks.

It was a mutually beneficial situation.

But now, finishing fast had benefits.

Of course, he is not heartless enough to leave them all in the dirt. But he is not generous enough to just hold back and wait.

So, he decided to slow himself down just a little bit by taking his time to cultivate the beasts. It will also increase his strength while giving some time for the rest of the players to catchup.

He would stop holding back but will still give those players some leeway. From what he can understand they are getting closer to the gods with every task they are doing and if his guess is right, there might be a situation where the players might against each other openly.

Then Sam wouldn’t be able to hold back even if he wanted to. He just hoped that he could figure out a solution for that to not happen.

Five players already died out of twelve and he tried his best to make sure that all seven remain as long as possible.

Shaking these thoughts off of his head, Sam started making preparations.

The beasts all took in the fruits and it is time for them to digest. And there is a perfect way of doing it.

Battle.

He let them stay in the area forest area for now before laying down a concealment formation around and left the place.

He used the hoverboard to quickly get out of the forest and within an hour found the nearest settlement.

He was stunned by the sight in front of him.

There is a broken down city where humans are all in an extremely tense atmosphere.

Half of the city wall was destroyed and the formation was barely hanging. Many formation masters are trying to repair that formation.

Some people are moving corpses out of the rubble. There are both corpses of humans and another species.

Lycans. They are in their true form. They just looked like werewolves described in movies. They are tall, fierce and strong and even after they are dead for some time they are still emitting that bloodthirst.

Sam walked towards the gate and soon he felt a lot of gazes locked in on him.

He froze on the spot and raised his hands.

“I am a human. Not an invader. There is no need to be alert like this.”

As soon as he spoke those words a few people came out of the city. The strongest among them is in late stage of Divine Plane Initiation. Which is pretty low considering the scale of war.

He is a young man who is riddled with wounds. He carried a scimitar with his chest bare and walked with a fierce look. He is fresh out of a battle.

“Who are you?”

The man asked Sam, his battle aura is locked in.

Sam just smiled and said.

“I am Sam. I am a free cultivator with no affiliation to any organization. I would like to join the war here.”

“Free cultivator? Then how did you find this place? The paths for this area are all blocked. There is no way for you to just appear out of thin air. Even the space gates are blocked with some special means. How did you get here then?”

Sam frowned at this, he didn’t expect things to be like this. But he is not worried.

“My residence is actually deep inside the forest. I don’t live in any city or town and rarely come outside. I only had one friend in the outside world who helps me with some stuff. He informed me about the war, so I came out to join.”

The young man’s frown deepened.

“You live in forbidden forest?”

Sam was stunned, but he didn’t let it show on his face and said.

“Yes.”

Not only the young man, the rest of the people are also surprised by his answer.

“The forbidden forest is the place where the lycans came from and you are saying you live there. You clearly understand why we have trouble trusting you. And also, Lycans do have human forms.”

As soon as he said those words, everyone surrounded Sam.

Sam sighed at this.

He really jumped the gun. He should have just stuck to his old ways and took his time getting enough info about the scenario.

He was just worried that looking at the state of the city, they wouldn’t be able to hold out for long and would be dead if he took his sweet time getting the information.

Sam sighed and said.

“You know, I don’t really mind taking my time to prove it you. But from what I can understand, your situation is dire.

You were just attacked and from the looks of it, it is neither the first one and it certainly wouldn’t be the last one.

Give me a chance and I will help you. You can understand based on my actions whether you can trust me or not.”

“I will…” Before the young man could speak, someone yelled from on top of the city wall.

“Young Master. Lycans are spotted they are coming from the south. We need to hurry.”

The young man turned to a man beside him and said.

“Keep an eye on him. Don’t let him leave your sight.”

With those orders he ran away with the rest of his team. It seems this wave of attacks are coming from a different side.

Sam frowned as he looked at the one guy who was left to keep a hold of him.

He is at Middle Stage of Divine Plane Initiation. One level higher than Sam.

Sam looked at him and asked.

“Why is there another wave of attacks right away, from the looks of it, you guys just got attacked not long ago.”

“That is none of your business for now. Until you are cleared as an ally, don’t bother trying to get any information out of us.”
