Chapter 113 Hunt

With only five days left until the round's conclusion, Alan had steeled himself for a riskier endeavor. Once more, he embarked on a nocturnal infiltration of the town, this time choosing a different route that led him deeper into the heart of the urban sprawl. His mission was clear: continue scavenging for valuable items that could turn the tide of the game.

Along his covert journey, he spotted other players who had dared to venture into the town's outskirts. However, the moment these players realized they were exposed and a shot was fired, they hastily retreated, unwilling to face the lurking dangers.

Alan seized this opportunity to venture further into the town's center, expanding his objectives beyond the untouched houses. His newfound purpose was to put his newly crafted weapon to the test, and for that, he needed the right targets. He began his hunt for solitary Nazi soldiers, but none of them worthy of his newly crafted ammunition.

His true quarry was none other than the SS Elite soldiers, menacing figures who patrolled the innermost reaches of the town. Alan's years of experience had taught him the importance of patience and careful calculation. Whenever he spotted an SS Elite, he meticulously assessed not only the number of guards accompanying the target but also the closest patrol routes and his escape strategy.

Distinguishing between the various types of SS soldiers was crucial. These elite adversaries shared identical armor ratings and endurance, but their differences were apparent in the weapons they wielded. The melee-focused SS Elite soldiers brandished steel batons, showcasing their superior strength. On the other hand, those equipped with firearms, bearing medium to large weapons, possessed enhanced perceptions.

Considering Alan's current tactics, targeting the melee-oriented SS Elites presented the lesser risk. Their heightened perceptions of the firearm type made them more challenging to approach undetected. As he silently traversed the shadows of the town, his keen senses on high alert, Alan finally whispered to himself, "Found one!"

In the darkness, a melee-type SS Elite maintained its patrol within a labyrinthine area, surrounded by two and three-story buildings. Alan, driven by meticulous planning, employed his [Enhance Sense] to meticulously survey the vicinity, examining the buildings and alleyways in fine detail. His keen senses detected the presence of approximately a dozen trained guards, and he kept a watchful eye on their movements, knowing that a patrol passed through the area every 15 minutes.

As the 7-minute mark approached, Alan seized the moment when the patrol was at its farthest point from his intended area of engagement. Like a shadow, he moved with lethal intent, dispatching one of the soldiers within his path with a single, swift stroke of his blade. The trained guard fell to the ground, lifeless, his end as silent as the night itself.

Utilizing his [Light Step], Alan proceeded with grace and speed, closing the distance between himself and the primary target. The world seemed to fade around him as he honed in on the SS Elite, his [sawed-off shotgun] poised for action.

30 meters,

20 meters,

15 meters.

As he drew nearer, Alan noticed a faint movement from the Elite—a subtle shift that signaled the soldier's growing awareness of an impending threat. It was a pivotal moment; one misstep could spell disaster, and Alan couldn't afford to lose this opportunity.

With lightning reflexes, Alan activated his active skill, [Eagle Eye], ensuring absolute precision. He squeezed the trigger from a distance of 13 meters, unleashing the full force of his shotgun upon the unsuspecting Elite's head.

BAMM!!!

The shotgun blast, delivered from a distance of 13 meters, possessed a formidable base damage of 58. Alan's choice of a special round added an extra 10 points of damage to the shot. His expert proficiency in small firearms conferred a significant 50% bonus damage to the attack, and when combined with his 50% sneak attack bonus, the damage calculation tallied up to an impressive 153 points. However, Alan's renowned title as a [Pyromancer] granted an additional 35% bonus to his base attack damage, potentially raising his total damage output to a staggering 206.

Subtracting the Elite soldier's defense, which effectively negated one-third of the damage dealt, Alan's attack resulted in:

[Shooting: Lethal Attack. Inflicts 133 damage]

[Critical hit inflicted from sneak attack, 68 damage]

Although the total damage of 201 was insufficient to instantly dispatch an Elite SS with health ranging from 300 to 350 points, it did achieve the desired effect. The Elite soldier staggered for a precious moment, providing Alan with the crucial opportunity to draw closer and deliver a second point-blank shot from the shotgun's barrel, aimed directly at the soldier's face.

"Goodbye!"

BAMM!!!

With a close-distance shot, the shotgun unleashed an even higher base damage, resulting in a formidable total of 154 damage. This lethal attack proved sufficient to finish the job in the most gruesome manner, as the Elite soldier's head was obliterated, resembling nothing more than a shattered watermelon.

The aftermath of this deadly confrontation was accompanied by a series of notifications:

[You have killed the elite soldier]

[You gained 800 XP and 400 survival points]

After a brief moment of relief, Alan savored the fruits of his well-executed plan. However, his respite was short-lived as he suddenly heard ominous noises.

"HALT!!"

The urgent command sliced through the night air, and Nazi soldiers swarmed toward his location. While Alan possessed the skills to dispatch this small group of foes, he couldn't be certain of a successful escape if reinforcements were to arrive.

As the soldiers reached the scene, all they encountered were the grisly remains of the SS Elite, with Alan having skillfully melted back into the shadows.

"Let's find the next one," Alan's resolve remained unwavering.

His mission for the night was clear: to meticulously locate and hunt down any SS Elite soldiers he could find. Not only did they yield substantial XP, but these elite adversaries also boasted a 25% drop rate for uncommon items. However, what Alan truly coveted was a specific drop, and his smile grew wide when he discovered it after his third kill.
