He Yuan and 888 spent the entire afternoon in the park. He Yuan might have disliked the system a bit when they first met but now that he knew what the guy had to go through, he was more tolerant. The silence between them was also quite comfortable.
When it turned dark, He Yuan returned to the Zhang mansion. He'd met up with Li Shu's subordinate at the park so he was pretty sure the police were going to show up anytime soon.
He wasn't quite sure where the mini hacker had swiped the money from but he was sure money was missing somewhere and a bank somewhere would be searching for it.
The family were having dinner and He Yuan joined in. He hadn't eaten all afternoon and he was starving. Zhang Hua puffed her cheeks and looked to Zhang Jun. "Papa, my teacher at kindergarten says that once two people like each other a lot, they get married and that a happy family consists of parents who are married and their kids. When can we get a happy family?"
The adults at the table all turned to glare at He Yuan and he chuckled. These people would never cease to amaze him, acting like he was in the way of the children's happiness.
"Why are you all staring at me? Shouldn't you be more worried about a teacher instilling these kinds of stupid ideas in the kids' heads? By the teacher's logic, children from divorced marriages or children who lost one of their parents can never have happy families?"
He looked to the kids. "Sorry to break it to you but a family doesn't necessarily have to have married parents for it to be happy family. Sometimes kids with just a parent might be even happier than others with two. The world isn't just black or white."
The elderly couple looked away in guilt whilst Zhang Jun humphed and Li Shiyu smiled at He Yuan. "Yexi, the kids are quite young so there is no need to force the ideals of grownups on them. I'm pretty sure the teacher meant no harm and Zhang Hua must have interpreted it that way because children are quite innocent and simple minded."
With Li Shiyu's words, the elders felt like they had been given a life saving straw and nodded along. They weren't raising the children wrongly, it was Li Yexi that was using his scheming mind to judge such pure children!
"The minds of children would always be pure and free of scheming thoughts. Don't judge them using yourself as a yardstick!" The Zhang madam scolded and the kids all turned to He Yuan with gloating smiles.
Really? He Yuan shook his head. The problem of these kids were the adults around them. Did Li Shiyu's face not hurt as he spoke those words? His kids were innocent and simple minded? A kid that would hack into somebody's company systems to plant in fake evidence because his papa was a big baby that couldn't grab a deal for himself?
A kid that would grab money from God knows where without caring if there was someone out there losing hairs over his or her loss Whilst his parents comfortably used the money to boost themselves.
Kids that would mess with somebody's car in order to cause an accident. Kids that had no qualms with pushing an antique vase, half the size of a grown man, over somebody's head. Li Shiyu's kids were truly the most innocent. No other kid was as pure and simple minded as they were.
Zhang Jun cleared his throat. "Li Yexi have you signed the documents yet?"
He Yuan scoffed. "No." Ignoring Zhang Jun's frown, he continued, "But I could consider it if the terms are changed."
Zhang Jun's eyes widened. Li Yexi was truly willing to consider divorce this time? Even Li Shiyu sat up straighter, trying so hard to hide the manic excitement in his eyes as Zhang Jun spoke, "What are your terms?"
"The Zhang conglomerate shares that I own remain with me, the document already has my name on it so the shares are fully mine to handle however I please. Don't trouble me for it just as i won't trouble you for the Li corporation shares that you own. As for my condition for divorce," He cleared his throat, "I want five million as compensation."
The Zhang madam smacked the table. "Li Yexi don't be so shameless! What is Zhang Jun compensating you for? How much is your life even worth that you're asking for compensation of five million?"
Ouch. He Yuan winced on Li Yexi's behalf. This Zhang madam really knew how to run her mouth didn't she? She was more like a street ruffian, nothing like the madam of an influential family.
He sent a tight lipped smile at Zhang Jun. "You're free to refuse. I'm not the one who is desperate to make a decent person of my mistress by marriage anyways."
Li Shiyu hunched his shoulders sadly at He Yuan's words and Zhang Jun held the omega's arms in comfort. He was about to speak up and agree when the family head glared at him and scoffed at He Yuan.
"Li Yexi, you're truly too bold. How can you compare the shares of our Zhang conglomerate to your mediocre Li corporation? And for what reason should Zhang Jun give you five million?"
The Zhang madam humphed. "You married into this family for over five years without giving birth to a descendant. A barren omega like you demanding five million? In your dreams!"
He Yuan dabbed his lips with a napkin and stood up. "Those are my terms and, I assure you, one way or the other, I will get them." He smiled brightly at them and walked upstairs.
They all stared in anger as He Yuan walked away. Zhang Jun sighed and held Li Shiyu's hands tighter as he spoke.
"Five million is not necessarily a huge sum for me." He stared into Li Shiyu's eyes. "If that is all it would take to finally be free of Li Yexi, then I'm quite willing."
Li Shiyu's eyes teared up and he smiled at Zhang Jun. The family head and Zhang madam saw this and exchanged looks. It wasn't necessarily a bad idea. Li Shiyu was a hundred times better than Li Yexi however you look at it.
The omega had given birth to three grandchildren for the Zhang family and not only were these kids adorable, they were also ultra talented. If nurtured properly, they could turn into huge assets that would only bring the Zhang conglomerate to even greater heights.
Their legacy would be in secure hands. They both sighed and nodded at Zhang Jun. The alpha and omega duo saw that the elders had agreed and could barely contain their excitement. Li Shiyu directly stood up and walked over to the Zhang madam to hold hands.
"Mother~" His tears were endless. "Thank you so much. You don't know how much your approval means to me. It's been so long since I've felt any form of familial warmth and being with you all has reminded me of what it means to have a real family.
-I'm not perfect, so I might make mistakes. Unlike my cousin, my parents weren't always there to properly teach me. I only hope you don't become disappointed in-"
"Silly child." The Zhang madam cut him off and pat his head. "You could never disappoint me." Seriously, how could he? She looked to kids who were digging into their food and smiled. The omega had already given her grandchildren and one of them happened to be a computer genius whilst the eldest was a finance guru. What more could she ask for?
The family head locked eyes with Zhang Jun and smiled. He was really proud, his son truly found a rare gem with this omega. Nothing at all like that barren trash Li Yexi. If he had met Li Shiyu first, there was no way he would have agreed to his wife's proposal of marrying Li Yexi for their son.
Zhang Jun went over to Li Shiyu and encased the omega in his arms. The family head and Zhang madam teased the young couple, causing Li Shiyu to blush furiously and hide his face in Zhang Jun's chest. The kids all ran to their parents and hugged their legs.
The moment was so sweet you could taste the sugar in the air.
