Chapter 548: The Limit Of Hide-and-Seek

Famous just woke up. Its head was still sleepy and could not tell imagination from reality very well. It didn’t realize that Pi was so gullible to fall right into the trap and hit its head. Famous became anxious and shouted, “Hey! Stop hiding, the two of you! Pi just hit its head!”
It called out twice loudly, but nobody responded. Famous was speechless. It guessed that maybe Zhang Zian thought it was trying to trick him out.
“Hey! I surrender, OK? Stop hiding!”
It called again, but still no answer.
This is forcing me to use my ultimate skill… Famous had no other choice. It sniffed hard, and inhaled the scent in the air into its nostrils. The scent flew over the 2 billion olfactory cells in the nasal mucosa, forming a scent map in the room. Scents from different sources had different colors and their paths crossed with one another. It was complicated, but not chaotic.
Its scent tracking ability outdoors was not as good as the professionally trained Zhan Tian. But searching for someone indoors was a piece of cake.
“Wait a minute, Pi, I’ll look for that idiot.”
Famous comforted the whimpering Pi, then followed the scent map out of the living room, into the kitchen upstairs.

Famous doubted its own nose. The kitchen was small and too open for anyone to hide in but Zhang Zian’s fresh scent did lead it near there.
Did Zhang Zian come here, leave a trace on purpose, then get out? No way. First of all, that dude was not that smart. Secondly, he could not have done this, as his scent entered the kitchen without exiting it. Unless he was able to eliminate his own scent in an instant, he must still be inside the kitchen.
Famous searched the garbage first. It didn’t understand why garbage first, but its gut feeling told itself that it was a good match with Zhang Zian. A human being could not possibly hide in a tiny garbage bin, even if Zhang Zian tore himself into pieces.

“OK. I’m just wondering…” Famous said behind him. “You are not going to hide in the freezing chamber of the fridge next time, are you?”
Zhang Zian was surprised. “How do you know where I was planning to hide next time?”
Famous sighed. “Whatever. Don’t ask me to join your hide-and-seek next time. I don’t want to see anyone getting killed for it…”
As they talked, Zhang Zian and Famous returned to the living room.
“Pi, are you OK? Did you hit your head? Let me see.” He asked immediately after he saw Pi sitting on the ground, covering its head with its hand.
He saw the nameless book open on the floor with the corner of his eyes. He had a sudden urge in his heart, but checking on Pi was more urgent.
“Eeek!”
Pi loosened its hand in tears. Zhang Zian looked into the short hair on his head. It was a little reddish, but not too bad. The desk was not very heavy.
“It’s fine, just rub it. Don’t get tricked so easily by Famous next time.” He smiled.
Famous interrupted him. “No, don’t ask me to join your hide-and-seek next time. Let me sleep in peace!”
“Galaxy! Come out! The game is over and you win!” Zhang Zian shouted, while rubbing Pi’s head.
“Meow! Galaxy won! Galaxy won!”
Galaxy came out of the corridor after hearing Zian. It seemed to be hiding in the storage room.
“Meow. Pi, does it hurt?” It ran to Pi and asked in concern.
“Eeek.”
Pi shook its head. It didn’t hurt anymore.
“Look. Can you not be so serious with the hide-and-seek game?” Famous suggested.
Zhang Zian replied firmly. “Absolutely not. The great leader once taught us, that we must be serious with everything!”
“Could you be serious with other things.. such as looking for a girlfriend?” Famous answered impatiently. These words stabbed Zhang Zian where it hurt the most.
“You hurt my feelings, old friend!”
As they were debating, Galaxy went around the table, lowered its head and gazed at the open nameless book. It exclaimed, “Meow. This is such an interesting book!”
