161 Chapter 161 The Necromancer Strikes Back, Desmond In Trouble

The mocking words of the necromancer had not yet been fully processed by Desmond’s brain when the latter felt a tearing pain in his abdomen, Desmond only managed to see a dark blur impact him in the stomach when the sparks jumped from the friction between the condensate miasm and its armor.

Desmond was immediately invaded by pain and the sensation of weightlessness, the landscape around him blurred for a moment until Desmond hit the ground in the distance; The necromancer’s attack had failed to pierce through his enhanced armor but still sent Desmond almost fifty feet away.

Desmond cough a few times for having his lungs spit out all the air inside them, but as soon as Desmond managed to catch a little breath, he looked up only to see just inches from his face a dark spike going straight for his skull.

Resisting the pain, Desmond tilted his head quickly trying to avoid the necromancer’s surprise attack, the intense burning sensation on his cheek soon tell him that although he was still alive; the necromancer’s attack still managed to scratch him slightly.

Desmond once again tried to open distance between himself and the necromancer while trying to think of another approach, although Desmond still had an ace up his sleeve he still wanted to try to weaken the necromancer as much as possible before playing his last card.

′′ What’s up brat, don’t you make jokes anymore? What happened to that arrogant attitude of yours? Can you feel it, can’t you, the poison running through your veins? you’re not so brave anymore. ′′ Araszh now with renewed confidence did not miss the opportunity to gain some psychological advantage over Desmond.

′′ poison? Do you mean this? ′′ Desmond exclaimed as he pointed to his cheek that was now pulsing with burning pain.

Taking a vial with an intense yellow liquid, Desmond poured the contents over his wounded face and a boiling sound was present as a poisonous vapor emerged from the wound; soon the necrotic marks on the wound disappeared and Desmond’s pain lessened.

.....

′′ To be honest, your poison is quite powerless, it’s funny your miasma is the same. . . Now that I think about it, that has been your case since we started fighting, don’t tell me. ′′ Soon a mocking smile crept into Desmond’s expression as he looked pityingly at the necromancer.

The necromancer was upset to see that his poison had been neutralized, but he was even more annoyed by the way Desmond was looking at him right now, as smart as he was the necromancer knew that Desmond was trying to provoke it, but he still couldn’t resist the curiosity.

′′ What are you saying? ′′

Desmond had a doubtful expression on his face as if he did not want to answer Araszh’s question but he let out an incredibly false resigned sigh and replied:

′′ it is just that. . . That can’t be why you became a necromancer right? I mean sexual impotence is a very common medical problem that plagues older men and there is no need to be ashamed. ′′

Desmond had wanted to continue his long and thoughtful speech about relationship problems not being the fault of either party, but four giant halberds made of deadly miasma would impale him on the ground if he didn’t get off quickly; so he once again went into Full-Drive to avoid it as a fertilizer in the soil.

′′ How dare you? ′′ Araszh roared with inordinate fury as he rained darkness and death on Desmond without stopping.

Ironically, the necromancer’s lack of control diminished his precision which allowed Desmond to escape with relative ease, the hunter even having occasional opportunities to throw more insults at the necromancer.

′′ Hey, it’s not my fault your little friend doesn’t get the job done. ′′

′′ Oh come on, shouldn’t an undead have it pretty stiff? Didn’t that help you? ′′

′′ you know what? I have an idea, as I am a generous man I will help you magnanimously, why don’t you introduce me to the girl who has you so frustrated? I can make her feel heaven on earth and when if she doesn’t beg me to completely devastate her and let her have my children. . . you know what? I think that doesn’t help at all, but at least she would be happy. ′′

One could only marvel at the tremendous level of being a jerk that Desmond could achieve when he put his mind to it, though there was some uncertainty as to whether Desmond really was serious and was a true jerk or was just trying to drive the necromancer insane with rage.

Whatever the case, Desmond had inadvertently touched the reverse scale of Araszh, the necromancer’s greatest regret had been not being able to marry the princess of the moon and his greatest pain was that the same princess he loved came to put an end to his life.

Now Desmond had accidentally mentioned his inability to have the girl the necromancer loved and had even made obscene comments about her; right now the necromancer’s fury was not something that could be scorned.

Lost in anger Araszh stopped his attacks on Desmond and began to accumulate his power slowly, Desmond seeing the necromancer and immediately unleashed another barrage of arrows on the latter in an attempt to stop him, but it was useless.

Seeing that things were getting worse, Desmond made a discreet signal in the opposite direction from where the necromancer was standing and began to circle the area as he drank a potion of resistance followed by a healing potion.

′′ Hell, I thought I wouldn’t have to do things like this again. ′′ As soon as Desmond finished speaking a tidal wave of infinite and corrupted darkness shot out in his direction.

Seeing the maelstrom of darkness moving in his direction, Desmond smiled bitterly as he pushed Full-Drive to his maximum limits followed by using his innate ability overload.

Desmond was willing to pay the price for his innate ability to raise his speed to completely abnormal levels, the ground beneath his feet fractured as Desmond shot like a furious gale out of the necromancer’s area of ??attack, but Desmond didn’t end there.

Even as he felt his muscles rip from the effort and his bones crack as they began to give in under the tension; Desmond still pushed his body around the necromancer and attacked him from behind.

Metallic mana gauntlets encased Desmond’s arms as he aimed to rip the necromancer from behind, but just as he was about to succeed he heard a sinister laugh followed by words that made his face lose all color.

′′ I have you, that’s what you thought, isn’t it? ′′

Desmond had no chance to react as two spikes of miasma emerged from the necromancer’s shadow impaling Desmond’s calves and pinning him immobile in place.

′′ Do you think I will live so long falling into such obvious provocations? The answer is no and now I have you. ′′ A creepy smile emerged from Araszh’s ghastly face as he looked at Desmond and imagined everything he was going to do to him.
