Chapter 472 Scaring away the devil emperor
Unlike Shui Liying, Zhan Chen was not that much worried about the battle in the Grey ash city. He could sense Hu Yali from his current location through her slave seal. He had already communicated with her while Shui Liying was battling the devil emperor.
According to Hu Yali, devils had come in large numbers but the cultivators in the Grey ash city were holding their ground. Moreover, devils were not going berserk like other days. So, it was easier for the Grey ash city cultivators' to stop them. As for her, she had yet to reveal herself as she was secretly keeping an eye on Zhan Chen's women. She was ready to help as long as one of Zhan Chen's women in danger.
The matter of concern for Zhan Chen in the Grey ash city was his women. Now that, Hu Yali was looking after their safety, he was completely worry free. He decided to focus all his attention on the devil emperor who was fighting Shui Liying.

The devil's attack was like grim reaper which cut her attack in two and came towards both Zhan Chen and Shui Liying in a rapid pace. "Heart sword, Sacred ray of the heaven", Zhan Chen roared out. An incomparably brilliant light came out from his sword and collided with the attack of the devil emperor.
"Boom", unlike his other attacks, this attack was not able to cut through devil emperor's slash. Both of their attacks collided resulting in a deafening noise in the surrounding.
The impact of the attack bore upon Zhan Chen and Shui Liying as they were closest to the collision spot. Both of them took several steps back in the air before stabilizing themselves.
"Humans, no matter how you struggle, you two will die today", a voice came from the direction of the explosion and the devil emperor appeared before Zhan Chen and Shui Liying like a malevolent ghost. Currently, there was a reddish glow coming out from the devil emperor's body which made him look more sinister and terrifying.

He had no choice other than confronting this attack because this attack appeared very strange and dangerous to him. If he couldn't counterattack properly, this attack may affect Shui Liying's soul.
"Sword heart, wind cutting sword", Zhan Chen hastily launched an attack to counter the devil. To his surprise, the devil's attack cut his attack into pieces before going in its original direction. Zhan Chen could only swung his sword in hope to push back the devil emperor's attack.
A strange soul trembling pressure came from the devil's attack when Zhan Chen stopped it with his bare sword. A cruel glint appeared in the devil emperor's face when he saw how Zhan Chen was desperately stopping his attack.
"Human brat, how does your soul feel? Are you freezing from inside?", the devil asked in glee. According to his expectation, any human even if he was a peak emperor realm expert would turn into an idiot after being affected by the Netherwind slash. The Netherwind slash was a very profound attack which combined a soul attack along with a physical attack.
The devil emperor thought Zhan Chen was done for after receiving his attack. He was planning to finish Zhan Chen completely when he felt a chill in his body. He looked towards Zhan and saw him looking towards him with a mocking expression.
"Bastard, how is this possible? How can you be not affected?", the devil exclaimed in surprise. A bad premonition rose in his heart as he decided to flee.
The blood explosion technique has it's limit and the devil knew he would be done for if he got entangled with Zhan Chen any longer. There was also Shui Liying who was a late emperor realm expert herself. So, the safest choice the devil found was to flee the location.
Shui Liying watched with surprise as a mighty devil emperor chose to flee the battlefield. Before Zhan Chen and she could react, the devil emperor had already pulled a long distance between them.
"Humans, don't think, I will not avenge myself. The next time we meet, I will definitely offer your souls to the devil god", the devil emperor roared from a distance. He didn't notice the strage smile appearing on Zhan Chen's face after he spoke his words.
'You think, I will let you go away like this', Zhan Chen thought to himself. The devil emperor's body stiffened up as he felt an unprecedented danger all of a sudden.
A strand of tyrannical soul energy approached him before he could react. The devil emperor put up a soul barrier hurriedly in hope of protecting himself.
But his efforts were futile. A tyrannical soul strand penetrated his soul and the devil emperor shuddered in the air. It was the first time, a cultivator had struggled against the Soul lave technique. Other victims couldn't even react when Zhan Chen's soul strand entered their souls.
The devil emperor struggled for few moments before becoming completely still. His eyes became lifeless as Zhan Chen's soul strand entered the depth of his soul and turned into a complex looking seal.
He was about to turn around to greet Zhan Chen when Zhan Chen's voice entered his head. "No need for pleasantries. I want you to go back and take note of devil's activities. I will call you if there is any need", Zhan Chen spoke.
"This slave understands. I will follow master's instruction", the devil emperor respectfully spoke. He flew towards the distant horizon and vanished from Zhan Chen and Shui Liying's sight.
All of these occured within few moments. Before Shui Liying could understand, the devil emperor had become Zhan Chen's slave and left the battlefield.
"How dangerous! The last attack of the devil gave me a scare. Fortunately he left, otherwise, I don't know what to do", Shui Liying spoke. She kept a hand on her chest to calm down her rapidly beating heart. There were emotions swirling in her eyes as she looked towards Zhan Chen.
"Husband, please don't do something so dangerous next time. In the worst possible scenario, I would have used a forbidden technique as well but nothing most happen to you", Shui Liying spoke.
She flew towards Zhan Chen on her own and embraced him tightly. She used the beating of her heart to inform, how concerned she was for him.
