Zhan Chen felt resistance when he tried to pull out the sword from the neck of the Blaze striped tiger. A feeling came to his heart as if the sword was unwilling to leave.
He recalled the bizzareness of his sword and pulled it out forcefully. After he exerted some more force, his sword came out from the neck of the Blaze striped tiger.
"What just happened?", the last expert who had just crossed Zhan Chen stopped his horned lion and turned back.
Zhan Chen had pulled out his sword even before the expert Infront of him could take a look at his sword. He looked towards the surprised Shen clan expert with a nonchalant expression on his face.
"Blaze striped tiger!", the expert of the Shen clan exclaimed after seeing the already dead Blaze striped tiger.
"Hah!", the expert whose body was just buried along with his horned lion threw the body of Blaze striped tiger to side and stood up.
"Brother Lao, what just happened? What is with the Blaze striped tiger?", the expert who had just turned back to check out the things asked the Shen clan expert who was attacked by the Blaze striped tiger.
The incident created a small commotion among the Shen clan experts and their expression changed whenever they looked towards Zhan Chen. A sixteen year boy killing fourth grade magical beasts were too much of a surprise to them. Even the Martial ascension realm experts of Shen clan felt surprise by the doings of Zhan Chen.
"Be cautious. Everyone watch over the people close to you", the Shen family expert who was leading the entourage commanded.
Everyone cautiously proceeded in the woods but Zhan Chen had a different matter to figure out. This was the first time he had used his sword 'Devour' to kill a magical beast.
Earlier, he had felt a reluctant feeling from the sword. It was not that surprising for him to feel emotion from a sword.
As a sword cultivator in his past life, Zhan Chen knew what was it meant for a sword to have emotion. It meant he had luckily managed to get a sacred grade treasure for himself.
But what was baffling for him was the fact which he had witnessed with his soul consciousness. After taking out his sword, Zhan Chen checked the body of Blaze striped tiger with his soul consciousness.
And the unintentional action from him left him baffled. Because the Blaze striped tiger was devoid of True essence energy which should be plenty in a rank four magical beast. There was only a little True essence energy left which was even lesser than the essence energy of a grade two magical beast.
"I need to find more targets. I know this sword is unusual. But to think that it has the ability to suck away essence energy!", Zhan Chen thought to himself.
He stopped his train of thought within a moment. But his eyes were trained on the dense woods to find more targets for his sword. He very much wanted to check the peculiar power of his sword. After travelling for some time, his eyes lit up as he looked ahead.
"Be careful. There is a pack of magical beasts ahead", the lead expert of Shen clan shouted.
Every experts of Shen clan drew their weapons as they cautiously followed behind the Martial ascension realm expert of Shen clan. Liu Nanxi was following behind Shen Ruyan as usual. She didn't take out any weapon but an aleart look appeared on her old face.
With a Martial ascension realm expert like Liu Nanxi by her side, Shen Ruyan was extremely safe. Zhan Chen looked towards the other girls.
Ling'er and Su'er were each accompanied by a fourth stage expert of Shen clan. Moreover, their horned lions were just behind the horned lion of Liu Nanixi. So, they were pretty much safe despite the approaching danger.
Li Yan, Li Shu and Kai Min, each were riding a horned lion of their own. Each horned lion was a peak grade three magical beast but Zhan Chen wouldn't let some grade three beasts fight for the safety of his women.
He urged his horned lion and the horned lion took him to the group of Li Shu, Li Yan and Kai Min.
"Young master Chen", Li Shu called out happily after seeing Zhan Chen coming towards them. She had a odd weapon of choice as she was holding a heavy looking hammer to protect herself.
Kai Min didn't say anything but she sneakily took some shy glances towards Zhan Chen. "Miss Shu, miss Min, no need to worry. No magical beast will attack you as long as I stay here", Zhan Chen spoke with a smile.
"Big talk", Li Yan snorted from the side. She had a look of disgust on her face as she looked at the look of infatuation on the face of her sister. The unpleasant feeling for Zhan Chen increased in her heart after she saw the smiling face of Zhan Chen and the shy look on the face of Kai Min.
"This bastard!", she gnashed her teeth in anger.
Zhan Chen had no time for a nosy girl like Li Yan. He focused his gaze ahead where the danger was approaching for their group.
It was common knowledge that Cloud forest range was full of danger and the group of Zhan Chen and Shen Ruyan wouldn't walk away from the Cloud forest range without facing the dangers of Cloud forest range.
Pairs of eyes trained over them as the Shen clan experts felt a chill on their heart. Even the faces of Martial ascension realm experts of Shen clan turned serious as they remained alert.
"It is the only way. There are other magical beasts in nearby area also. So, there is no point in avoiding one and entering the territory of other", Zhan Chen muttered to himself.
The magical beasts came out one by one as they covered the group of Zhan Chen and Shen Ruyan from three sides. The only direction that they had not covered was the back direction which the group of Zhan Chen wouldn't choose even in trouble.
One would only be called a fool if they turned their tails and turned back, only to find a group of blood thirst magical beasts chasing behind them.
"Sister Su'er, I am scared", Ling'er spoke as a look of trepidation appeared in her eyes.
"No need to fear. Just hold your weapon and try to defend yourself", the fourth stage expert of Shen clan who was accompanying Ling'er spoke as she looked towards the approaching magical beasts with uneasiness in her eyes.
The approaching magical beasts were pitch black in appearance and their backs had a metalic luster. Some pointed spikes were protruding out of their metalic backs.
"Ironback wolves", the fourth stage expert of Shen clan muttered to herself as she tightened her grip on her weapon.
Zhan Chen was watching the pack of Ironback wolves since a long time. The number of Ironback wolves were seventy as they were being led by a grade five Ironback wolves.
Magical beasts would never tolerate if someone encroach on their territory and the Ironback wolves were no exception to this natural rule of the forest.
Like humans, the magical beasts also had intelligence and they became more intelligent with increase in their levels.
The leader of Ironback wolves scanned the three Martial ascension realm experts of Shen clan. As for the others, it only had scorn on its face.
"Aowwwww...", the leader of Ironback wolves howled.
"Aowwww...
Aowwww...
Aowwwww....."
the other Ironback wolves howled in return after hearing the howl of their leader.
Then one after another they launched themshelves towards the group of Shen Ruyan and Zhan Chen.
"A perfect opportunity to test my sword", Zhan Chen spoke as he took out the sword Devour from his back.
The experts of the Shen clan also gathered together as they form a circular formation with Shen Ruyan in their centre.
Zhan Chen nodded his head as it was the prove of the Shen clan experts' battle awareness. Two Martial ascension realm experts of Shen clan moved outward as they focused their eyes on the powerful looking Ironback wolves.
After the quick exchange between their eyes, every Shen clan experts knew what was their next course of actions would be. They had tacit understanding among them as they readied themshelves to face the approaching Ironback wolves.
