Hearing this the duo took a step back with a fearful looks on their faces. What happened tonight just reaffirmed to them that whoever is within the body of this mortal is truly Damon.

“We do not fear death. Our lives have been yours to take from the very beginning but consider our intentions. All we wish to do is to protect you” Lucy said unwilling to back away now but even then Damon snorted disdainfully in response.
“Don’t be a fool. Do you think I lost to the Beyond because I was tricked? Why do you think I wanted to consume the deities that pose as the regional heads and guardians before taking on the Beyond again? I lost because I was weaker!” Damon said with firm eyes, leaving the duo stunned.
Never in their life did they think they would hear Damon admit inferiority to something else. They gazed at him with astonished expressions visible on their faces.
“I don’t know what he is planning but he will fail. This man may be powerful but the Beyond is also strong. He will not win...” Damon said but Klien and Lucy instinctively frowned at those words.
They have seen Alex Brigg’s strength and honestly, he was stronger than Damon at the moment. If he can’t do it, how can they expect Damon to do it?
Right now they also felt more determined to pin Damon down, especially now they knew their enemy is far more dangerous than they initially thought.
