Chapter 145: Sharing

The land I was given was quite large.

I think it’s probably about 1000 tsubo.

My stand-alone house stands on such a vacant lot.

Thankfully, there’s plenty of space.

So, I built some arenas for Mobile Force battles next to my shop.

(T/N: Tsubo is equal to 3.31 square meters)

The creator is, of course, Michelle, and they are all very well-made arenas.

There are several types of them.

There’s the most orthodox type, the round circular arena.

There’s also an arena with ropes stretched around like a wrestling ring.

There’s also an arena with the image of an abandoned city, providing an atmosphere of urban warfare for enjoyment.

There are also some of the more unusual ones, from an arena with traps everywhere that are triggered after a certain time to an arena decorated with flowers.

[I’ll let you choose which arena you want.]

Kurtz has a relaxed attitude, but it doesn’t seem like he’s making light of his opponent.

[The most normal one.]

Meanwhile, Carmine is trying to look natural, but she seems pretty nervous.

Her expression is much stiffer than usual, so it’s easy to tell.

[That’s the arena I’m most proficient in. You fine with that?]

[Not like it really matters……]

The fight was to take place in the circular arena, the format was unlimited time, and the match was to be decided by either submission, broken link or ring-out.

[Yuusuke-chi, you watch me, okay?]

[Yeah, do your best.]

Giving me a small nod, Carmine linked up with her Gyan.

It was Kurtz’s Gufufu that moved as soon as the match started.

This boldness is Kurtz’s charm.

However, Carmine also seemed to have anticipated Kurtz’s move, she swiftly evaded and retaliated with a flurry of light attacks.

The speed of a Mobile Force varies slightly depending on the strength of the controller’s magic.

Though it’s a small difference, a millisecond is quite a long time.

The movements of Carmine’s Gyan are so fast that it’s getting closer to Michelle’s Gyan.

[This guy!]

He must have realized that she was a stronger opponent than he had expected.

Kurtz’s face shows impatience.

However, Kurtz is no slouch either.

He exhibits explosive power at key moments, bouncing back from Carmine’s dominance.

[Kuh……]

Kurtz’s fierce attacks forced Carmine to be cautious.

Power fighters possess an absurd strike capable of turning the tide of a battle.

As they had been fighting in a no-interval format, the two had been fighting for more than 10 minutes now.

Both Kurtz and Carmine were sweaty, with only their eyes blazing with determination.

Carmine is always chewing gum in a daze, but she can also have such an expression on her face huh……

The two engaged in a back-and-forth battle, but the Gyan’s movements suddenly slowed down.

Just like a boxer who has run out of stamina, it could only unleash lackluster attacks.

[She’s running out of mana?]

[Go, Kurtz!]

The children watching the match shouted.

Most of the spectators are students at the Adventurer Academy, so most of them are cheering for Kurtz.

This is totally an away match for Carmine.

Pushed by their cheers, Kurtz comes forward.

He is about to deliver the decisive blow, swinging his sword into the air in a great overhead motion.

However, Carmine’s Gyan matches his movements and rapidly accelerates.

It was a bluff!?

Carmine pretended to be out of mana and caught Kurtz off guard.

A sword sliding from a low position is aimed at the Gufufu.

The two machines moving at top speed couldn’t stop their movements anymore.

[Ohhhhhhhh!]

[Take thiiiiiiiiiiisss!]

The two swords crossed each other from above and below.

However, Carmine had been a moment faster.

The tip of the Gyan’s sword flicks up the wrist of the Gufufu.

The Gufufu’s sword, which is knocked out of position, is cut down with a diagonal slash.

The game was won.

Everyone thought so.

However, Kurtz’s persistence had not been broken.

Before the link could be broken, he brought forth his maximum mana to have his Gufufu tackle the Gyan along with it, pushing it down towards outside the arena.

And then, the two Mobile Forces stopped moving.

The crowd around me was in high spirits, waiting for my decision as the referee.

[The winner, Carmine!]

.

[Boo!]

Some students booed, but I didn’t overturn my decision.

[It was Carmine who fell to the ground first outside the arena, but Kurtz had his link broken first. Therefore, Carmine won.]

The crowd was still complaining, but it was Kurtz who silenced them.

[Yahagi-san’s right, I broke the link first. That’s why I lost.]

When Kurtz gracefully conceded defeat, none of the students complained anymore.

I asked Kurtz.

[How is it, Carmine’s abilities?]

[Yeah, I admit she’s got that. I won’t lose next time though.]

[Why, thank you.]

[And so, from now on, you’re on our team.]

[Eh?]

[You’re interested in the dungeon, right? Then, isn’t it fine?]

Carmine looked restless after being forcibly invited.

[Why? I’m a student of the Royal Academy……]

[What, does the refined student of the Royal Academy not like being paired with the crude students of the Adventurer Academy?]

[That’s not it!]

[Then, isn’t it fine?]

[Unnn……]

There are a few unforgettable moments in one’s life.

Perhaps, this is the case for Kurtz and Carmine.

The four of them are already talking about their next exploration.

[Fuuu, even so, I’m starving.]

[I’ll give you this. I like this melon flavor the best.]

Each pack of fruit gum comes in four gumballs.

The four of them sharing a pack of gum is a sight I’ll always remember.
