Chapter 318 True Enemies! A Broken Game!

'This is…'

Jang-Do couldn't believe his eyes as the scene he saw suddenly took a very aggressive turn. The situation could be considered anything but normal, yet everything suddenly started to make sense!

His eyes were particularly concentrated on the town chief and the youthful girl standing next to him. He had originally found her to be a very lovely and beautiful person that he considered interacting with her more, his impression of her remained the same even when she was hatefully glaring at them, but…

'Monsters!'

Hair was suddenly growing all over the girl and her father's body as their mouths protruded out of their face. Although their gem-like blue pupils remained the same, their entire body turned into that of a disgusting hairy creature!

With long horrifying fangs sticking out of their mouths and large claws replacing their nails, a town full of these monsters that had no presence in Murim was facing the Heavenly Strength Society's young finest! This was none other than a town of Werewolves!

'Just like a broken game of Werewolf…'

The transformed monsters standing everywhere gave Leo a little jolt. Instead of having to spot the werewolf within the villagers, every resident of this town was one!

Since he had been planning to start off their return to the field with a big move, the Werewolf Town was perfect as a prime target.

Originally, Geochin would arrive here due to reports of monster appearance in the surroundings before engaging in a little game of mystery, trying to discover who caused the disappearance of the Murim League's members before finally getting to discover that they were surrounded by imposters…

On the other hand, Leo didn't have to engage in such a useless entertainment event, cashing on the information he exchanged with himself using Shadow Star as an intermediary, he directly started an unreasonable slaughter!

In reality, the members he brought hadn't been very useful, but just the fact that they didn't directly attack him showed just how important the little trust he built up with Jang-Do had been.

'Well…'

If he could, Leo would have chosen to fight the disguised monsters as soon as he saw them. After all, while the werewolves' human forms aren't as weak as normal humans, their strength didn't surpass normal-rated Martial artists. Unfortunately, haphazardly making an attack would only make the situation much worse.

Werewolves required some time to complete their transformations, but that small window wouldn't allow for total annihilation. On the contrary, attending the monsters' prey fattening feast made for a very great chance!

Considering that anyone could still be an enemy, stronger werewolves always hovered around them, so getting them cooped up in an enclosed space where transformation was even harder was the perfect start to the planned werewolf raid!

"How could you tell?!"

For a change of pace, the werewolves were one of the very monster races that possessed the ability to speak intelligibly. Before commencing their attack, the town chief couldn't help asking how their 'perfect' acting fell short.

He was fully aware that what they did wasn't exactly convincing, but one of the werewolves' special abilities was producing a hallucinogenic scent that makes people more comfortable around them. Rather than being suspicious, acting in a friendly manner worked like magic when combined with that ability, for someone to notice something this quickly…

"Does it really matter now?"

Leo only gave a quick answer before moving out to cut off the werewolf closest to him. It wasn't like this was an anime or a novel scene where he had to explain everything to the readers, right?

Swish!

"You aren't wrong… We just have to exterminate you and we can return to our peaceful hunting life! Attack the rude intruders!"

Unlike other monsters who wanted to take over the land by driving humans extinct, werewolves liked to live among humans and devour the ones they find to their liking. Instead of extermination, the thing they feared the most was having their identity compromised!

'Not right, the descent of the protagonist here would still wipe you off the face of the earth…'

As much as the Werewolf Town event was meant to make a thrilling investigation arc, it was also one full of deep emotions. After all, among the ones picked off by the monsters, one of the few friends that Geochin made within the league would lose his life, escalating the situation even further by driving a wedge into the lonely hero's heart.

'Not like that would be possible anymore.'

Despite being let on the plan from early on, Cheon Sohee chose not to kill the monsters while still in their disguised form. However, once their true identity was brought to light, she had no qualms about slicing them to pieces. Still…

"As expected, this is too much…"

Leo, Yeon, Yong, and Sohee, the four of them quickly moved against the werewolf horde, but the situation didn't look too good. Their individual strength was overbearing, but each and every werewolf was at least at the level of a proficient 1st rate Martial Artist. Although fighting a battle of attrition would be a different story, it was a bit too much to fight hundreds of werewolves in a frontal assault.

Crackle!

Their various martial arts' energies had more use when it came to clearing small fries, but it was restricted against quality forces. Even then, the four of them could take on the whole town with enough time if they really meant to, but…

"Are you going to stand and watch like this for long? Shouldn't we make up for our late reaction by helping the hyungs and noonas?"

Swish!

Jang-Do stood forward to make an example, his broadsword cleanly severing the ferocious werewolf's neck. Despite making it to the Peak Stage very recently, his ability wasn't anything to joke about!

'Indeed, that's why I brought all of you here.'

Since he needed forces to make this werewolf town raid smoother and his classmates required experience and credit to act more freely, wasn't this considered a perfect win-win situation?
