Chapter 5: 5. Royal adventurer academy regret

AT THE SAME TIME

ALEXANDER

The entire guild hall had gone completely silent again. Apparently, this was becoming a daily event for me. Dark energy still lingered around the newly summoned dark elf as she calmly held my hand like she’d been doing it her whole life. Scarlet stood beside me with a smile that looked peaceful if you ignored the overwhelming holy pressure crushing the room, and in the middle of both of them...was me. A C rank adventurer questioning every life decision I had ever made. The receptionist looked seconds away from resigning.

"T-That’s another summon?" She stammered.

Noa glanced around lazily before her crimson eyes settled on Scarlet.

"Oh. There’s already one."She said.

"Yes."Scarlet smiled back.

The guild temperature somehow dropped and increased at the same time. Several adventurers backed away instinctively.

"I can literally feel killing intent."One whispered.

"I suddenly miss the goblins."Another nodded rapidly.

"Warning: Multiple possessive entities detected. Survival probability decreasing."The system flickered.

"Please shut up." I muttered.

A heavy pressure suddenly filled the guild hall, and an older man stepped out from the upper floor balcony overlooking the guild. Tall, broad shoulders, scar across one eye. The guild instantly straightened.

"Guild Master!"One of the adventurers shouted.

Even Scarlet and Noa briefly glanced upward. The man laughed loudly as he jumped down from the second floor like gravity was optional.

"So YOU are the brat causing chaos since yesterday!"A guild master said.

He landed directly in front of me and crossed his arms. Michael is a guild master of the city branch. His eyes moved toward Scarlet first, then Noa, then slowly back to me.

"What the hell are you?"Michael asked.

"C rank adventurer?"I raised my hand weakly.

"No. Absolutely not."Michael burst out laughing.

"Receptionist. Scan the new summon."He pointed directly at Noa.

The poor receptionist looked terrified but obeyed immediately. The crystal above the counter activated again, it scanned Noa once, then flashed bright red. The guild hall exploded into panic.

"WARNING HIGH TIER ENTITY DETECTED."The system said.

"N-Name: Noa..."The receptionist read the results with shaking hands. "Race: Dark Elf. Combat classification..." Her voice cracked slightly."A Rank."

Silence, complete silence, one adventurer dropped his sword.

"A RANK?!"Another looked ready to faint.

"HE PULLED AN A RANK ON HIS SECOND SUMMON?!"

"WHAT KIND OF BROKEN RNG IS THIS?!"Third one asked.

Michael stared at me for a long moment, then suddenly started laughing again. Huge loud laughter that echoed through the guild.

"Hahaha! The academy expelled THIS?!"Michael screamed.

"You heard about that?"I gasped.

"Heard?" Michael grinned widely. "The entire city heard! ’Alexander Blackwood, owner of useless gambling Skill expelled immediately after awakening.’"

"And now you walk in here summoning divine saintesses and A rank dark elves?!"He slapped my shoulder hard enough to nearly kill me.

"When you say it like that, it sounds suspicious."I said and frowned.

"It IS suspicious!"Michael said.

"I do not appreciate loud men touching my master."Noa suddenly wrapped herself around my arm possessively.

"I agree."Scarlet immediately stepped closer too.

The walls cracked slightly, and Michael stared at both summons. I could tell that he was clearly impressed by both of them.

"Oh this is amazing."Then grinned even wider.

That’s when the guild doors opened again, and several academy students entered first. Then a man in expensive academy robes stepped inside behind them, the room instantly stiffened. Academy director Reynold. The same man who expelled me yesterday, he stopped walking the moment he saw me. Then his eyes moved toward Scarlet, then Noa. Then the pressure filling the entire guild hall as his expression froze completely.

"What."Reynold gasped in surprise.

Michael noticed instantly, then slowly turned toward him with the biggest grin I had seen all day.

"Oh?"Michael said. The guild master crossed his arms proudly. "Director Reynold. I think you expelled the wrong student."

Director Reynold stood completely frozen near the entrance. I honestly couldn’t blame him. Scarlet stood calmly at my right side radiating holy pressure powerful enough to make veteran adventurers nervous, meanwhile Noa was still hanging onto my arm like she legally owned it and somehow I was still only C rank.

"Alexander." Reynold finally said slowly. "Explain."

"Honestly? I’m trying to figure it out too."I blinked.

"Hahaha! This is incredible!"Michael burst out laughing again.

"Saintess class."The director ignored him and stared directly at Scarlet. Then his eyes shifted toward Noa. "And an A rank dark elf."

"Correct."Noa smiled sweetly.

Several academy students behind him looked seconds away from fainting.

"He summoned TWO?!"One whispered.

"We laughed at him yesterday..."Another looked horrified.

"Yes."Scarlet looked at them calmly.

The students immediately stopped talking.

"Kid, do you realize how absurd this is?"Michael slapped my back again.

"My spine does after you keep hitting me."I said.

The guild master laughed harder. Director Reynold stepped forward slowly.

"Alexander. The academy may have... acted too quickly."

I stared at him.Reynold said.

"Too quickly?"I asked.

"Your Skill was unstable and undocumented."He said.

"You expelled me in under three minutes."The director tried again.

"Yes."Michael said.

"One of the teachers called me ’future unemployment.’"One student said.

"That was unfortunate wording."The director tried explain himself again.

"Historical update: Academy regret detected. Probability of awkward apology: 97%."The system immediately appeared.

I almost laughed. Almost.

"The academy would be willing to reevaluate your status."Reynold cleared his throat awkwardly.

"No."Scarlet’s eyes narrowed instantly. The holy pressure in the room increased slightly. "They abandoned Master."Scarlet stepped closer to me, her voice remained soft which somehow made it scarier.

"I agree. They had their chance."Noa smiled beside me. Dark mana spread across the floor. Several academy students backed away immediately.

Director Reynold visibly tense, while Michael looked seconds away from dying from laughter.

"This is the best day I have had all year."He smirked.

"Can everyone stop trying to start political incidents around me?"I rubbed my forehead.

"No." The system answered immediately.

"Fantastic."I said.

"Alexander. Returning to the academy would guarantee resources, combat instructors, and-"Reynold tried again.

"I have them already." I interrupted.

Scarlet immediately nodded proudly, Noa tightened her grip on my arm.

"We are sufficient." She said.

The director looked emotionally damaged.

"Why do his summons feel more loyal than actual humans?"One of the academy students suddenly whispered too loudly.

"Because we are."Scarlet smiled gently.

The student nearly died on the spot. Michael walked over and threw an arm around my shoulders.

"Kid, forget the academy. Stay with the guild."He said.

"You just want to watch chaos happen."I groaned.

"Absolutely."He said.

At least he was honest.

"Guild reputation increased. Academy reputation: currently collapsing. Personal Status: still somehow C rank."The system flickered again.

"Okay, now even I think that’s ridiculous."I stared at that last line.

"I can fix that."Noa leaned slightly against me.

"We both can."Scarlet nodded immediately.

The guild hall collectively panicked.

"No." I said quickly. "Nobody is fixing anything."

"Oh, he still thinks he controls the situation."Michael grinned.

That sentence scared me more than the summons did.
