Perhaps sensing Nangong Jingtang’s aura, Ye Yu, Ye Yangyang, and Yue Wanqiu all turned toward the main hall.

They saw Nangong Jingtang emerge slowly, her face deathly pale and her steps faltering.

Seeing this, Ye Yu immediately stepped forward and supported her, whispering, “How are you feeling?”

Nangong Jingtang did not answer, but cast a puzzled glance at him and swiftly took a half step back, her expression wary.

Perplexed, Ye Yu turned to Yue Wanqiu. “What’s going on? It seems like she doesn’t recognize me. Did you erase her memory too?”

“That’s impossible—I only removed the inner demon! She shouldn’t have lost her memories,” Yue Wanqiu replied hesitantly. It was the first time she’d seen such a consequence: she had helped lower-rank demons purge inner demons before, but never a Demon King. Perhaps a reaction to the high realm? she wondered.

Ye Yangyang bounced impatiently at their side. “Is she really my daughter-in-law? If so, I should bring a wedding gift! But you two don’t look like you know each other.”

Ye Yu sighed inwardly. His father was nice, but really couldn’t keep his mouth shut. To avoid distraction, he cast a silent-sealing formation over Ye Yangyang, then faced Nangong Jingtang again—only to have her vanish in an instant.

All three demons froze. What was that about? She didn’t even say a word and just left?

Yue Wanqiu snapped out of it first. “What are you waiting for? Go after her!”

“Right!” Ye Yu nodded repeatedly, about to give chase—until he remembered his father was trapped in the formation. He dispelled it at once. “Father, go back to the village. I’ll come see you once I bring Nangong back.”

Ye Yangyang smiled. “Alright then, I’ll be waiting!”

Without another word, Ye Yu became a streak of light heading east, vanishing in the blink of an eye.

Ye Yangyang snorted. “Impetuous fellow. Hey, girl, you’d suit my big son. Want to give it a try?”

“You?” Yue Wanqiu forced an awkward smile. “Stop joking, uncle. Ye Yu likes Nangong Jingtang, not me!”

Ye Yangyang raised an eyebrow. No outright refusal? Maybe it wasn’t impossible after all! “With the way they acted just now, though, it’s not guaranteed. Besides, is there any rule in the Demon Realm against two demon mates? Youngsters, don’t be so rigid.”

Yue Wanqiu fell silent, her eyes conflicted. She didn’t voice the truth: you need mutual affection for a relationship to work, not just one-sided feelings.

Half an hour later, Ye Yu arrived at the Peacock Clan’s territory, guessing that Nangong Jingtang would seek refuge there. Even with amnesia, she must remember her home’s location.

As expected, he detected her aura within. Peacock clansfolk erupted in joyous cries: Nangong Jingtang had returned! Even better, she seemed to have regained all her memories and faculties. Tears glistened in many eyes. “She’s back! Dame Nangong is back! The Peacock Clan will rise again!”

Ye Yu entered and beheld Nangong Jingtang surrounded by admiring gazes. Her expression had shifted: no longer dazed but infused with intelligence. She noticed Ye Yu’s arrival and, instead of fleeing this time, instructed the clan’s chief elder to bring Ye Yu to a side hall and wait. The elder complied, and Ye Yu silently sat down.

He wasn’t idle—he planned a Justice Draw. He’d amassed seven thousand Justice Points—a tidy sum, but three thousand shy of ten thousand. He decided to spend two thousand points for luck, keeping five thousand in reserve, aiming to hit ten thousand for a major draw.

With that, he performed two Earth-tier draws. A massive wheel appeared. The first result ⊛ Nоvеlιght ⊛ (Read the full story) flashed: “Thank you for participating!” Spotting those familiar four characters, Ye Yu swore under his breath, “Damn it! How many times now?!”

Composed again, he awaited the second wheel. When the pointer landed squarely on Peak Demon Lord tier, a smile finally spread across his face. As they say, a crying sheep breeds good luck. His demon force surged, advancing him to Peak Demon Lord!

Exhilarating though the gamble was, he resisted temptation: beyond Peak Demon Lord lay Immortal King realm. He vowed to save his remaining five thousand points and aim for that next leap.

With his plan set, Ye Yu closed his eyes to recuperate. Outside, five Peacock Clan elders huddled once more.

“Brother, what do you make of this? Dame Nangong still cares for that ram as before?”

“I don’t think so,” another replied. “Previously she would run joyfully to him, but this time she sent Elder over to fetch him. I suspect she no longer likes him!”
