On the way back to the Wuwei Tower, Jiang Yumo complained irritably, “That fellow just now was the Lord of Evil Immortals in the Central Celestial Realm, the Demon–Heaven Lord, right? He looked so easy to bully—is it because he felt guilty for fleeing the battle against you? Frankly, someone like that shouldn’t be allowed to live.”

Ye Yu smiled quietly but said nothing. In the hearts of his consorts, the Demon–Heaven Lord was nothing but a traitor. Had Ye Yu not ★ 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 ★ intervened last time, they would have long since wanted to kill him. Still, Ye Yu secretly looked forward to seeing what this future Demon–Heaven Lord planned to do—he hoped he wouldn’t disappoint them.

But for now, the priority was comforting the healer beside him. She trembled all over, clearly frightened. So Ye Yu spoke gently, “You don’t need to worry. If you help me heal one immortal, I promise no one from the Three–Corps Palace will trouble you again.”

The healer said nothing; her face behind the straw hat was deathly pale. Worried about the Three–Corps Palace? I’m the one who should be worried—big brother, really. That female immortal just now called him polite too, which means you must be even fiercer than him!

Ye Yu, receiving no response, felt awkward and turned to Jiang Yumo, hoping she could soothe the healer’s nerves—after all, they supposedly knew each other. Jiang Yumo shook her head. “I really don’t know her. This is our first meeting; I only heard about her when passing through earlier.”

Ye Yu’s brow darkened in frustration. Unbeknownst to them, the healer—Yao Wuyai—grew even more uneasy at the changing expressions on their faces. “Heavens, everything’s gone wrong today. I should never have stayed at that sanctuary!”

The next morning, the three of them returned to the Wuwei Tower. Along the way, Jiang Yumo tried to chat with Yao Wuyai and learned her true name, then recounted Zheng Nuanxiu’s baffling condition. Yao Wuyai listened with growing curiosity, but even after mentally running through the case, she reached no conclusion. In the end, she only promised to take a look once they arrived.

When Ye Yu and Jiang Yumo led her back, Li Ruowang, Zhuo Lanqing, and the others immediately gathered around, scrutinizing the healer with curiosity. Yao Wuyai stepped back, her pretty face behind the hat filled with fear. So many people!

Ye Yu noticed her reaction and frowned. What was she afraid of? He waved the consorts aside and, taking Yao Wuyai by the hand, led her into Zheng Nuanxiu’s guest chamber alone.

Upon entering, Ye Yu’s eyes widened. What had been a few dozen square meters of room had been expanded—by some array, no doubt—to over a hundred square meters, leaving it strangely cavernous. Zhuo Lanqing had indeed heeded his advice!

Ye Yu closed the door and quietly said, “This is the patient. Please, have a look.”

Yao Wuyai nodded and stopped three meters from Zheng Nuanxiu. She lifted her hand and took the immortal’s pulse in midair. The chamber fell deathly silent.

At that moment, Zheng Nuanxiu stirred and opened her eyes. She glanced at Yao Wuyai’s straw hat, then at Ye Yu by the door, and asked curiously, “Immortal Ye, what are you doing?”

“Nothing much—just a routine check of your body. You needn’t pay attention. Rest easy.” Ye Yu kept Zheng Nuanxiu in the dark, for Li Ruowang had warned him that recalling the lost memories caused her agony and drowsiness. Better not to speak.

Zheng Nuanxiu nodded and closed her eyes again. Yao Wuyai released her hands. Seeing this, Ye Yu immediately cast a soundproof barrier. Then he asked, “Well? What do you find?”

Yao Wuyai spoke rapidly, her tone firm when discussing technical matters. “Her immortal body suffered grievous injury in the past, but has long since healed—no treatment needed. However, deep within her heart-mind lies an extremely powerful seal encompassing her soul. This seal has been triggered and now teeters on the brink of shattering. If we do not break it soon, her soul may be destroyed along with it.”

Ye Yu’s face changed. He had not expected the situation to be so dire. “How can we resolve it?”

“First, stabilize her soul with Serenity Flowers. Then find someone whose soul is strong enough to help lift the seal. If she truly is a half–Step–Imperial–Realm powerhouse, we’ll need an Imperial–Realm immortal to break the seal—and withstand the shock of its rupture. But I must warn you: this is the first time I’ve treated such a condition, drawing the method only from ancient texts. I cannot guarantee success.”

At the end, Yao Wuyai’s voice quavered. She feared offending this man and risking his wrath. Social anxiety made her a pessimist—and her many rules at the sanctuary had been to protect herself. She never ventured out to treat patients; now, forced to do so by Ye Yu’s status, she trembled before an immortal who could hold his own against the Lord of Evil Immortals.

Ye Yu’s expression grew serious. An Imperial–Realm helper—and Serenity Flowers—only he fit both conditions within Wuwei Tower. It looked like he must handle this personally. As for the Serenity Flowers, they happened to be in his storage ring—gained, ironically, from the Demon–Heaven Lord. That man truly was a treasure trove of curiosities.

Ye Yu produced the Serenity Flowers and handed them to Yao Wuyai. “Begin. I’ll do it myself.”

Yao Wuyai blinked in surprise. She had not expected this man to truly be an Imperial–Realm master—so different from the aloof, world-ending figures of legend! Recovering her composure, she split the Serenity Flowers in two. “Have him and Zheng Nuanxiu each take half, and hold hands. Palm-to-palm contact will better guide your souls into the flower. Remember: ensure your own safety while lifting the seal. Even an Imperial–Realm soul can be harmed if you fail.”

Ye Yu nodded and, with a thought, sent a mental summons to Li Ruowang to enter the room. Trust with this healer was thin, and now, as his soul faced separation, he needed added security.
