Chapter 34: You walk behind me
[Earring of the Moon (Lv. 1 Requirement)+4 | Green Grade | Durability: 90%]
Automatically extracts Mystic Energy from the mana in the air while offline (0,03 Mystic Energy per minute)
[Earring of the Sun (Lv. 1 Requirement) +4 | Green Grade | Durability: 90% |
Automatically extracts Mystic Energy from the mana in the air while online (0,03 Mystic Energy per minute)]
[[Replication Cube (Lv. 1 Requirement) +5 | Blue Grade | Durability: 56%] acquired.]
[Description:] The cube continuously releases up to ten clones, each possessing 3/10 of the user’s power. Whenever a clone dies, a new one will be created to replace it, maintaining the limit of ten active clones. However, the user needs 1 hour to construct a mana formation in a fixed location.
Vyral blinked several times as he stared at the text in front of him.
’’0.03? That’s 1.8 per hour. 43.2 Mystic Energy per day.’’
Then he activated the [Replication Cube], creating a magic formation beneath the ground. The artifact emitted a golden glow before ten clones appeared one by one in front of him.
Vyral quickly ordered them to clear out the undead emerging from the ground. The ten clones immediately charged at the undead, delivering fatal blows.
+0.1 Mystic Energy.
+0.1 Mystic Energy.
+0.1 Mystic Energy.
...
The amount of Mystic Energy he received had clearly increased by a large margin. Vyral sat nearby, watching the green system panel so he could keep an accurate count.
Twenty minutes later, as more and more undead emerged, one of the clones walked over to Vyral and sat down, looking slightly exhausted.
Surprised, Vyral scratched his head. He had never expected a clone to act lazy like that.
Perhaps because the artifact had been upgraded, the clones had started to develop a bit of awareness.
Vyral roared and delivered a brutal kick to the clone, sending it skidding across the ground like a broken puppet before it died on the spot.
He wanted to make an example of it to intimidate the others.
’’Focus on your work, you damned slaves!’’
The clones shivered and focused on killing the undead more fiercely than ever. Vyral even noticed the notifications appearing more frequently than before.
After one hour, the clones had earned around 8.2 Mystic Energy. During the previous moonlit period(12h), they only earned about 4 Mystic Energy per hour, but now that amount had nearly doubled.
With the number of undead appearing during the moon period being almost endless, he could earn up to 98.4 Mystic Energy over twelve hours. During the sun period(12h), the amount would drop by roughly half since the undead no longer appeared as frequently, along with a few other factors.
In the end, he could earn around 147.6 Mystic Energy per day from the undead farm. Combined with the Earring of the Sun, his total income reached around 190.8 Mystic Energy per day.
’’Holy shit! It’s almost doubled compared to before. Actually, it’s even better than that.’’ Vyral smirked.
On top of that, he no longer needed to come here to set up the magic formation again. After all, his artifact had been upgraded.
Now, it looked like an endless source of passive Mystic Energy for Vyral, as long as his clones didn’t run into any troublemakers.
Vyral nodded in satisfaction before preparing to return to the academy. From now on, he would only come here if it was truly necessary.
Of course, he didn’t forget to intimidate the clones before leaving.
’’Remember my words: if you guys don’t earn at least 150 Mystic Energy per day, I’ll come back here and torture every one of you, even if you’re just clones.’’
To reward himself for this wonderful day, he decided to add a few millimeters to his height before returning to the academy.
’’1,01...not bad.’’
***
Vyral, Arthea, and Doran headed to the principal’s office to meet Merlin now that she finally had some free time to talk.
’’See? You’ll have to thank me if we get a good mission.’’ Doran chuckled as they walked down the hallway.
Vyral shrugged.
’’I’ll thank your father.’’
Arthea continued walking ahead, ignoring the two of them.
Doran leaned closer and whispered into Vyral’s ear while glancing at Arthea’s back, especially her....
’’You’re really not going to apologize to her? ...Come on, dude. Look at that...see. It’s a sign... a sign.’’
Doran licked his lips and rubbed his palms together in amusement.
Vyral rolled his eyes before quickening his pace. He caught up to Arthea, grabbed her hand, and pulled her behind Doran.
’’You walk behind me.’’
Arthea remained silent, completely unconcerned. Yet, a faint, subtle smile spread across her lips at that moment.
A few minutes later, they entered the room.
Vyral and Doran looked visibly thrilled upon meeting the mage Merlin. Meanwhile, Arthea seemed slightly uncomfortable.
’’Greetings, precious rough gems. As I promised your father, I will keep my word.’’
Merlin held a magic orb in her hand, whispering a few spells before nodding to herself.
’’I have a mission for you.’’ She said, gazing into the orb as if observing something inside it.
’’The Green Dungeon No.2322 on the Gaul Continent. Go to the Hound Guild and clear that dungeon.’’
Ting!
[You have received a mission from Archmage Merlin, precious rough gems]
[Description]: Clear green dungeon No.2322
[Reward]:
. upgrade scrolls (x1000)
. Pick one of Archmage Merlin’s artifacts.
. Fully tuition-free during the whole program
. 1500 golden coins
[Penalty]:
- 50 favorability points with Archmage Merlin.
’’Golden?’’ Vyral’s eyes lit up as he looked at the rewards. The other rewards also seemed quite appealing to him.
However, Doran’s expression shifted to uncertainty. He hesitated for a moment before speaking.
’’Uhm, sir. The Gaul Continent... is it really safe for us? Everyone knows that place is next to Camelot – the demon’s lair. Moreover, that land is lawless. It won’t suit students like us.’’
Merlin smiled.
’’There’s no need to worry. This idea came from your father. Besides, I’ll send a guard with you.’’
She lingered for a moment before speaking, her voice carrying a hint of mockery.
’’If you’re scared, I can give you another mission instead. But the reward... you know how it is.’’
Doran’s face twitched for a second before he nodded.
’’We accept.’’
