Chapter 122: Chapter 122: Scapegoat_1

Xue Xiaochan’s words made Qin Feng laugh.

His face lit up with excitement as he asked, "What did you just say? Did you say you are my wife?"

"A fake wife, a fake marriage," Xue Xiaochan replied, still irritable.

This guy calls her wife every day, leading her astray.

Suddenly, Xue Xiaochan remembered something.

"Where’s Wen Wenjing?" she asked.

"She ran away," Qin Feng answered.

"You watched her run away?"

"Mhm."

"Then why didn’t you stop her?"

"Stop her for what? I can’t save her now. Only after you, my wife, sleep with me and my power has significantly increased, will I have the ability to save her."

"Can’t you be more serious?"

"Sure! If you let me do that not-so-serious thing, I’ll stop obsessing over it, and naturally, I’ll become serious!"

"Get lost!"

Xue Xiaochan rolled her eyes and said fiercely, "Hurry up and lead these people out of the cavern; it’s freezing in here, I’m about to die from the cold."

"Cold? Then let me warm you up."

Before Xue Xiaochan could react, Qin Feng planted a kiss on her lips, blowing a breath of Xuanhuang Qi into her.

For Xue Xiaochan, that kiss

was akin to having just weathered a raging storm, leaving her entire outfit soaking wet.

Suddenly, the dark clouds cleared.

The warm sunshine poured down, falling upon her.

It instantly warmed up her shivering body from the cold.

It took a while for Xue Xiaochan to come back to her senses.

Although she had regained her composure, her heart was still delighted.

She had long stopped being averse to Qin Feng, but she wouldn’t take the initiative to kiss him.

Being kissed by him was very much to her liking.

However, a girl must maintain her composure.

So, Xue Xiaochan lightly punched Qin Feng, chiding, "Bastard, did I allow you to kiss me? If you dare to kiss me randomly again, I’ll tear your damn mouth apart!"

"Still cold?" Qin Feng asked.

"Not cold anymore."

"Hot or not?"

"Get lost!"

...

After frolicking for a while, Qin Feng rang the Bronze Gong, leading the Patrol Team members and those eight hundred workers out of the cavern.

After coming out, he opened that black cloth bag.

Inside were all the clay figurines he had shaped.

Though tiny, only about as big as a pinky finger, each one was lifelike.

Xue Xiaochan picked one up, inspecting it from all sides.

"Did you shape these?"

"Yeah!"

"You irredeemable dog! All the females have such big chests and perky butts."

"Aren’t those the most beautiful parts of a woman?"

"You jerk, I’ll beat you to death." Xue Xiaochan said laughingly, hitting Qin Feng again.

Tussling and laughing, maybe this was the taste of love.

Xue Xiaochan suddenly fell in love with this feeling, with Qin Feng teasing her, and then her playfully scolding and hitting him.

If they had a son, would it be more fun to pull him in and beat the two of them together?

Unintentionally, Xue Xiaochan found herself entertaining such a thought.

Qin Feng arranged the clay figurines in a big circle, enclosing all eight hundred workers and the Patrol Team members within.

Then, he pulled Xue Xiaochan aside to a large rock outside of the circle and told her to stand on it.

"Don’t move from here, okay? I’m about to summon thunder. If you mess around and get struck by the thunder I call down, then I’ll become a widower."

"Get lost! Can’t you speak like a normal person? Stop cursing me to die!"

Xue Xiaochan took her position.

Qin Feng started forming hand seals and began stepping in a ritual pattern, muttering to himself as he did so.

"Oh great thunder deity of the heavens, your lightning fills the void. Commanding thirty million soldiers, flashing among the dark clouds. Strike down with winds of spring, and rain with the spring breeze. If any strong spirit shall not yield, let the five thunders snatch them away, never to return."

Qin Feng, in this moment, was the spitting image of a mini-spiritual stick.

Suddenly, a white light flashed in the pitch-black night, illuminating half the sky.

Boom!

With a deafening roar, a bolt of heavenly thunder descended, aiming for the large circle Qin Feng had arranged with the clay figures.

All at once, the clay figures came to life.

They sat cross-legged on the ground, their tiny hands forming hand seals, their little mouths beginning to move.

Muttering away, they started to recite scriptures.

However, whatever gibberish they were chanting, Xue Xiaochan couldn’t understand a word.

Half an hour later.

The clay figures cracked open, turning back into handfuls of dirt.

A cool breeze blew by, scattering the dirt into the wind.

The Patrol Team members and eight hundred laborers all opened their eyes.

Even though Xue Xiaochan was already aware of Qin Feng’s supernatural abilities, the events that had just unfolded still shocked her.

Was her husband even human?

Curious as a little cat, Xue Xiaochan’s interest in Qin Feng grew stronger.

In fact, she even began to toy with the idea of giving her bargain husband a thorough examination when they got back home later that evening.

Everyone had awakened.

Song Sisi was the first to come to her senses.

She looked at Xue Xiaochan with a baffled expression and asked, "Xiaochan, where is this?"

Clearly, Song Sisi had forgotten even coming to Moon Lake.

Xue Xiaochan didn’t answer; she didn’t want to deceive her best friend, so she turned to Qin Feng.

Since it was Qin Feng who was supposed to tell the lie, she would let him do just that.

"We’re at Moon Lake! Captain Song, you led the Patrol Team here to rescue people, and now the eight hundred laborers have been saved. We can round up and head back," he said.

Facing the eight hundred laborers, Song Sisi still wore a look of confusion.

"Saved? How were they saved?"

With absolutely no recollection in her mind, Song Sisi indeed had no idea how the laborers were rescued.

"We have Deputy Captain Qi to thank for that. He led the team to rescue the eight hundred laborers from the cave," Qin Feng replied.

Qi Hong, who was just as baffled, perked up as soon as he heard what Qin Feng said.

"Exactly, exactly! Just now, I led the team in there. We risked our lives, scrambling around, to rescue these laborers. Thankfully, not a single one is missing," he immediately chimed in.

Qi Hong unapologetically took credit for the rescue.

He didn’t realize that Qin Feng was actually setting him up.

As soon as Qi Hong admitted that he was the one who saved the laborers, those lonely ghosts and spirits would start causing trouble for him.

However, Qi Hong was a man of integrity and the lonely ghosts and spirits couldn’t take his life.

The worst they could do was scare him a bit, perhaps give him a nightmare or two.

The lonely ghosts and spirits should have been scattered around the world. Master Zhikong gathered them all at Moon Lake, using them to breed misfortune.

Qin Feng couldn’t possibly liberate all of these lonely ghosts and spirits in one go.

He wasn’t that powerful yet.

Hence, Qin Feng prepared a temporary measure to disperse them for now.

Once scattered, the lonely ghosts and spirits were also afraid of people and would hide at the sight of any.

Even the braver ones would at most climb onto a window and give someone a bit of a scare.

Qin Feng asked Captain Song to bring Qi Hong over specifically for this purpose.

Because, among the Patrol Team members, only Qi Hong could withstand the harassment of the lonely ghosts and spirits.
